Detrick came in with two problems he wanted diagnosed. #1- Check engine light is on and is misfiring. #2- Engine noise, possibly coming from a bad lifter. Problem #1- Scanned computer system for codes and data, #1 spark plug is bad, #4 spark plug is incorrect for this vehicle. Installed two spark plugs to continue testing, #1 & #4 ignition coils are misfiring under a load, vehicle needs a new set of spark plugs and two new coils, customer stated he could do that himself and declined repairs. Problem #2- Rattling noise in engine is coming from internal, passenger side front of engine. Removed valve cover for inspection of timing components and valve train, passenger side timing chain guides are broken and rattling around on top of timing chain, timing chain is very loose and rattling. Customer stated he could not afford the repairs at this time and to put the vehicle back togeather. Total charges for diagnostics, disassembly, inspection and reassembly for both problems was $ 190.00, which is over $ 100.00 less than what book time suggest for just the valve cover removal and reinstall. I am sorry Detrick is unhappy, we strive to have very satisfied customers.
