Not so at May. I have taken two cars there now. They have quickly identified the problems WITHOUT ripping everything apart, and they've given proper assessments of the costs.
I was accustomed to spending $400+ for what seemed to be the simplest of problems (I finally got smart and googled pricing, and now realize I was getting fleeced). So I've always had a sinking feeling when pulling out my card while waiting for someone across the desk to tell me what I owed.
So, when the mechanics at May fixed something, and I showed up to pay the bill, I stood there with my credit card, trembling a little, exhaling anxious sighs.
"That'll be $38.00 please."
I slowly put my credit card away, then pulled out cash and handed it over. Then I got in my car and drove away before they could change their minds and charge me $800.
So far, nobody has called me about the $762 I still owe them. So I guess the REAL bill WAS only $38. :-)
