I was up for the 40 k service so got it done at VW of Duluth and cost $644 being its the dsg trans.
Got the car back and we went back to the hotel for the day about 4 miles away.
Next day put about 10 miles total on it coming back to the hotel just cresting the huge hill and decent to the hotel and lake. the oil light and buzzer starts going off. I had cars all around and the hill was like the ones in san fransisco, I didn't want to shut the car down and have no PS or PB'S . I then coasted into the hotel parking ramp and shut the engine down at the first safest spot.
I popped the hood and the compartment was covered in oil and seen it centralized around the oil filter cover, I noticed it wasn't seated all the way and the o-ring/gasket was pinched.
I called the dealer and they got me a loaner car in about 1.5 hrs and towed the car back in about 2-2.5 hrs .Thanks Tabitha Quinn sales manager.
After it was sitting over 30 mins I checked the oil and found NOT ONE drop of oil on the stick.
John the service manager was not very accomdating telling me its all good and our techs said it will be fine. I don't feel comfortable with the car anymore knowing theis happened, this was suppose to be my 200k car and now I cant ever feel to trust it.
After they "FIXED IT" and we went round and round about why they wont give a warranty . we got VW of America involved
they opened a case and the region case manger was assigned.
long story short we were heading back to the U.P. and the same thing happened in Ashland ,wi. I called the service manager John and told him what happened. I did all the leg work to call and arrange a tow truck and a place to tow the car to. At least the chevy dealer in Ashland was able to fix our car. Worst part about it the same mistake was done by two different mechanics at vw of Duluth.
I cant believe they have no remorse that they screwed a simple service up and they wont offer a extended warrenty refund or nothing, The fact of inconveince this ruined our vacation as well.
I'm not happy at all , I'm loosing faith in VW of America. they said they cant force the dealer to do anything so vw of Duluth refunded the money spent in Ashland plus about $70 to basically pay to have the correct oil put in the car. VW of America is paying to change the oil so I guess I 'll be maybe $70 ahead , this will never make up for my 40k mile car having the equivalent of 80k miles of wear or more. the car may run for a long time but it may not , any car run low on oil twice is no good now the value is gone , people that know we wont even buy it . Maybe vw of Duluth wants to buy it for full market value if its fine as they say.
for the full story here is my thread on the vw forum
This is my honest story and i'm sticking to it
On behalf of VW of Duluth I would like to thank you for the feedback above. A review has been performed to attempt to verify the cause of the issue created and how this issue occurred. Our Certified Volkswagen Mechanics are unable to establish the reason for the upward facing oil filter housing to have failed twice while the vehicle was in your possession. Amount of oil drained from vehicle was above standard tolerance for vehicle operation. Thank you for acknowledging that we refunded you for the money spent at the second dealership plus the cost of your performed oil change at VW of Duluth. We have contacted your local dealer to make them aware of what has occurred and that we are here to support you in the future if such issue may occur.
