Severe lack of customer service
I would not reccomend this dealership or their product. I was sold a lemon and have been waiting a month for them to do the right thing and replace the vehicle. I still dont have a vehicle! Additionally, I was sent this survey for my recent "visit to Volkswagen on Sept 30"....I didn't go to Volkwagen on September 30th! Idiots.

Unnecessary recommended repairs
Check engine light and airbag lights were on. Estimates to fix those two items were given, but it was also recommended that I get new struts, top plates and bearings and a wheel alignment (one strut was replaced and the vehicle was aligned 1 week prior to this service). It was also stated that I need a new clutch (a new clutch was installed a month and a half prior to this visit).

Poor service
VW apparently holds some dealers more accountable than others. This dealer is not one.

faulty 40K mile service lost oil twice in 3 days they dont care
My wife and I traveled to the Duluth area for a 4 day vacation to check out the sights in town and up the north shore.

I was up for the 40 k service so got it done at VW of Duluth and cost $644 being its the dsg trans.

Got the car back and we went back to the hotel for the day about 4 miles away.
Next day put about 10 miles total on it coming back to the hotel just cresting the huge hill and decent to the hotel and lake. the oil light and buzzer starts going off. I had cars all around and the hill was like the ones in san fransisco, I didn't want to shut the car down and have no PS or PB'S . I then coasted into the hotel parking ramp and shut the engine down at the first safest spot.

I popped the hood and the compartment was covered in oil and seen it centralized around the oil filter cover, I noticed it wasn't seated all the way and the o-ring/gasket was pinched.

I called the dealer and they got me a loaner car in about 1.5 hrs and towed the car back in about 2-2.5 hrs .Thanks Tabitha Quinn sales manager.

After it was sitting over 30 mins I checked the oil and found NOT ONE drop of oil on the stick.

John the service manager was not very accomdating telling me its all good and our techs said it will be fine. I don't feel comfortable with the car anymore knowing theis happened, this was suppose to be my 200k car and now I cant ever feel to trust it.

After they "FIXED IT" and we went round and round about why they wont give a warranty . we got VW of America involved
they opened a case and the region case manger was assigned.

long story short we were heading back to the U.P. and the same thing happened in Ashland ,wi. I called the service manager John and told him what happened. I did all the leg work to call and arrange a tow truck and a place to tow the car to. At least the chevy dealer in Ashland was able to fix our car. Worst part about it the same mistake was done by two different mechanics at vw of Duluth.
I cant believe they have no remorse that they screwed a simple service up and they wont offer a extended warrenty refund or nothing, The fact of inconveince this ruined our vacation as well.

I'm not happy at all , I'm loosing faith in VW of America. they said they cant force the dealer to do anything so vw of Duluth refunded the money spent in Ashland plus about $70 to basically pay to have the correct oil put in the car. VW of America is paying to change the oil so I guess I 'll be maybe $70 ahead , this will never make up for my 40k mile car having the equivalent of 80k miles of wear or more. the car may run for a long time but it may not , any car run low on oil twice is no good now the value is gone , people that know we wont even buy it . Maybe vw of Duluth wants to buy it for full market value if its fine as they say.
for the full story here is my thread on the vw forum
http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=421363

This is my honest story and i'm sticking to it

Jason -

On behalf of VW of Duluth I would like to thank you for the feedback above. A review has been performed to attempt to verify the cause of the issue created and how this issue occurred. Our Certified Volkswagen Mechanics are unable to establish the reason for the upward facing oil filter housing to have failed twice while the vehicle was in your possession. Amount of oil drained from vehicle was above standard tolerance for vehicle operation. Thank you for acknowledging that we refunded you for the money spent at the second dealership plus the cost of your performed oil change at VW of Duluth. We have contacted your local dealer to make them aware of what has occurred and that we are here to support you in the future if such issue may occur.

Not Worth It
I recently visited this dealership's service center to get a hood fuse replaced (manufacturer recall). Getting to the dealership is difficult, requires navigating a few side streets so they really could use more signs to direct people. There was no where to park near the service center entrance, so I ended up coming through the sales entrance. The receptionist there was very rude, she acted as if I was hugely inconveniencing her even though she had just been sitting at the desk looking at her nails. Although the sheet I received in the mail said the repair would only take a few minutes, it actually took a half hour. The service center rep. didn't show me where I could sit to wait until twenty minutes after I arrived. All in all, it was not a comfortable experience.

Don't take women seriously
I came in with a list of complaints on my 2014 Jetta and they told me I was wrong, that it couldn't be that way. Everything I countered with documentation, their excuse was that it wasn't broken in yet. The most frustrating was trying to find an explanation to averaging only 17 mpg and the fact that the engine operates at 4500 to 5000 rpm's when it should shift into a higher gear and never shifts.

Unpleasant experience
Not a pleasant experience. I called them to make an appointment to test drive a car. When I got there at the designated time, they collected my personal information without telling me why, and then I was left at the table for a while. Finally they told me someone used it for another purpose and said I could come next time. I don't think I was valued in this experience.

Ryan said the technician wiped out the whole motor. He always has to bring the vehicle back to this business after it gets fixed due to things being forgotten or things not done correctly. He would not recommend this business for the reasons mentioned already. However, he said that John is a great guy.

Key programing
I am Shandell's uncle who paid the bill to have her key programed. The Service people were very friendly and professional. The poor rating is due to the cost of a 15 minute programming and the car was left on the trailer and not even brought inside the building. This 15 minute service cost ME 65$ That is a lot of money for 15 minutes

Service Dept. doesn't honor their work
I brought my car in to VW Duluth for a broken part on my car. They repaired the part and less than two months later it broke again. They would not honor their work and charged me for the same repair again. They charged me more to repair the part than it was to replace it with a new one. I wish they would have told me it was cheaper to buy a new part initially. No research was done and they will not honor their repair work.

Salesman and dealer didn't follow through with what they told me to my face.
To my face I was told that the second row cup holder would be replaced by my salesman. But than the next day over the phone he said it would cost him $40 dollars and couldn't. Not a big deal but don't promise me something to my face than back down the next day over the phone. I was also suppose to receive my $500 dollars that I had to put down to "reserve" the car, back the day I picked up the car. I did not and had to call and ask for it back. Not very impressed with your dealership. I'm not the pickiest person in the world but I do like my dealer to take care of me. I will not recommend this dealer to anybody I know

Be ready to wait
After my transmission blew it took two weeks for them to finally decide the VW would cover the cost of the repairs. Upon deciding that, it took another two weeks for them to finally complete the repairs, during which I was never called and updated on the process, deadlines were missed and continuously slid a few days out every time I called to check in. Even when it was finally fixed I was never notified I only found out because I happened to call in that day.

lack or communication
I only had vw of duluth for an option to have my car worked on because of the make. I had scheduled an appointment to have it looked at, I didn't make it on time as I had to have it towed in. When I got there I was about 15 min late for my appointment, once they pulled it in to the first bay there were about 6 employees walking around my car in circles for a solid ten minutes, waited another 10 for someone to come and test drive it. Once they came back from the test drive they brought it in to the second bay to lift it, it took almost two hours before anyone came to talk to me, once confirmed what I had feared (driveshaft) they had given me a quote and told me they would have the part friday as it was after 12pm on wed. I had told them I would need to rent a car since they do not offer any loaner cars. He told me somone would take me to the airport shortly, after watching them stand in the first bay talking and going outside for 20-30 min one of the employees finally came to get me and bring me to the airport. Friday morning came, at 11am I had not heard anything (part was to be there between 10-11am) I called vw, they said the truck had not been there yet and they would call me once it arrives. I called again at 130 as I was trying to schedule my lunch to come get the car if it was ready. They then told me the truck had still not come and they would call him, 30min later they call and say the truck is not coming as the driver didn't have anything scheduled for that service center (service center put full blame on parts center). Now having a rental for 3 days when they promised my car back in 2. He told me the truck would be there at 10 am and he would call me as soon as it came in. 11am I call as they work a shorter day and I am really getting nervous. (why didn't I just ship my car to a larger market where they might have better service). 1230 I finally hear back that the car is beign test drove, 1 call saying it is good to go. When I get there to pick it up, I ask what had happened with the communication they told me the parts company dropped the ball and they had done everything they were supposed to do, I had asked if for my trouble they could scan or reset my check engine light, they said yes but it would be another $160.00. In the extra cost of rental cars and running around and worry, the next time I would gladly pay to have my car towed to a larger market to have the work done, I feel when you are spending thousands of dollars the service center should have more professionalism and comunication. On the other hand yes the car now drives great

Dena said she specifically requested a transmission fluid flush. The business performed nonessential services instead. She said there is a trust issue now. The technician explained to her that he was going to perform the transmission fluid flush, but the manager told him not to do the service. She wouldn't recommend the business based on this experience.

Heidi said the gentleman in the service department was not good. She said for the last 10 months since she bought her vehicle she has been fighting with him over the peeling clear coat. She said she lives 110 miles away and she had to go in twice for one repair. She has a 10-year extended undercoat policy, which grants free carwashes and every time she asks he forgets. She asked for the rear wiper to be replaced on the last three visits and it has yet to be replaced. She said the business has great salespeople, but the service department is horrid. She would not recommend them to others based on this experience.

Sub zero temps killed my battery. AAA got me going and ran into Duluth Vw to get it replaced. Got me in and out in a timely fashion without an appointment.
