The service Team at Classic Hyundai in Mentor, Ohio is second to none! And Hyundai as a business is second to none! They have always taken great care of me. And because of how the Team is there in Mentor, and how Hyundai stands behind their product I know my next vehicle will be purchased there at classic!

Known recall for engine issue not handled efficiently
The known recall for engine issue was not handled efficiently for the 2017 Hyundai Sonata as now the car is in for service with no known completion date. See Jan 2019 article https://www.hyundainews.com/en-us/releases/2696 for more info for this recall.

The rating is 4/5 as the Sonata is a great car, but this issue is puzzling for this 2nd Sonata owner (1st 2003 Sonata).

2014 Azera with rough cold idle.
Difficult diagnosis however service team eventually found issue and completed repair without me having to return several times. Took a total of 1 week. Rental provided (Velostar) could have been nicer.

Great Service
The service department replaced the window switch on the driver front door. When reassembling it, the cable for the door latch was not attached. I took it in the next working day and they repaired it within 15 minutes. Everything works now.

Service manager Ian is very professional, he listens and takes issues seriously, conversely corporate laughed at me Thursday when they initially called me back, female employee said she has a car that won’t start and it’s a different brand. Please acknowledge Ian at the Classic dealership for being wonderful .......and find out who at corporate thinks my problem with a brand new car (500 miles) is hilarious because it fails to start. She contacted me on March 28th.

Efficient
Service is done on time, staff is friendly and professional, facility is always clean. However, on my previous oil change, the drain plug was only finger tight and I had lost nearly a quart of oil when my husband noticed the leak later that day. I called about this and we were told that the next two oil changes would be free of charge, but that didn't happen, and I didn't remember this until after I got home .

Service for a recall issue
Service was completed, I think, correctly. Not being a mechanic, I must depend on the expertise of the dealership to preform the required services. I do take my vehicle elsewhere for the required oil changes and tire rotations. The dealer costs are just to high.

Could do better...
Made an appointment and still took 75 minutes for an oil change. I felt like they forgot about me. No communication. This was my first time going to Mentor Service because I have a new SUV. Not sure if I will retun for a second chance, might need to find another Hyundai dealership.

I went in for the required oil change at 6,000 miles. The service dept. then put a sticker on my windshield for the mnext change at 9,624 miles. Are they kidding or what?

When scheduling oil change & rotation I was not informed a software update was also needed & was offered when my wife arrived, she agreed to save me the hassle, & was not expecting to be there for approximately 1-1/2 hours. Why wasn’t this offered when services were scheduled? Service rep unaware services covered under plan when wife mentioned rotation & stated the cost for services. Paper floormat not used & interior door handle area was dirty & certainly not by me or wife. Unable to receive car wash d/t low temperature & unfortunately rep didn’t offer one at a later date & at customer convenience. My wife stated that she gets better service at her dealership.

Oil change survey
The sign in the waiting room says "quick oil change. I don't see a 45 minute oil change as quick. I did not see a check off sheet to see if the service department did an inspection. The price on a tire rotation was too expensive.

Staff is pleasant, always ready to assist you. However I do have an issue with the mechanic that services my car. Please read below.
I did however have an issue with the service of my 2018 Elantra on the previous visit for the same unfamiliar noise under the car between the shift gear and front right wheel.

When I had previously brought the car in because of a very prominent noise under the car the mechanic who checked out my car and took it for a test drive with me made
references to perhaps it had something to do with the items that were in my trunk. I was rather taken aback by that statement as in the truck were a snowbrush, a small soft rug and a pair
of witner car mats. ????? Quite obvious to me that these items could not be making the noise I heard nor any type of noise. Besides they were in the trunk at the back of the car.
He said he tightened things under the carriage and perhaps that would fix it. Unfortunately it did not as soon as I got the car home it was already making the same noise.

I let it go for a couple of weeks thinking to either see what would happen or to take it to another dealer. As the noise become louder I was quite concerned for safety reasons as it sounded like something was really becoming loose underneath the car.. I felt I should take it back to Classis Hyundai.

I called to make the service appointment and spoke with the service rep that originally helped me. I felt that was best as that person would be familiar with the situation.

When I took the car in to be checked once again it was mentioned to me that the mechanic stated it could possibly be the passenger right side
mirror.
I LITERALLY LAUGHED OUT LOUD WHEN THAT WAS TOLD TO ME !

First of all the mirror isn't anywhere near where the noise was coming from and besides the noise only happened when I turned the steering wheel to the right and made a turn.
Why would he even think such an incomprehensible thought regarding this issue?

I felt both of these statements by the mechanic were absolutely an insult to my intelligence and absolutely idiotic. ! No logic to his statements at all.

I was asked to leave my car so they could thoroughly check everything that might be in question. Hopefully they did not waste their time checking the mirror!
I was given a loaner car for which I was very appreciative.

It ended up being the "MOTOR MOUNT" and it had to be ordered. It took around 5 days to get it all completed.

The noise is completely gone and the car is feeling much safer to drive.
I appreciate the work that was done and the pleasant and concerned service staff.

I would recommend this dealership but at the same time would warn someone about the mechanic.

Also a few years ago when I had the 2015 Elantra which I leased from Classic I had taken it in for a service check including tire rotation. I always mark my tires for that procedure.
I was told the work was done only to check the tires before I left the dealership and found the tires were not rotated which it actually stated on my receipt that it had been done.
It was corrected and I was offered free oil changes for the remainder of that lease. Again that was appreciated.

However, I must admit I am now wondering about the efficiency of the service department?

Loving my Hyundai
Repair starts on time and the car wash and some interior cleaning is a bonus. My only complaint (and it really isn't serious-didn't have time to wait for it to be done then as offered) was my wipers weren't replaced as I had originally mentioned. Love calling and getting service next day and all the above mentioned....oh, and it's close to home.
