Rip Off Estimate Given
Brought in my 2002 Cadillac Deville which had a passenger rear window malfunction.
Mech. exaimed car and foreman gave me estimate of $600, roughly $400 for the part. When I stated that that number seemed excessive, he revised the estimate to $400, saying he could use an after market part. I brought car home and looked up window actuator and motor for my vehicle online. Part ran from $50 to $114. I ordered a Dorman part for $87, part included shipping and was delivered in 2 days. I installed myself in about 2 hours, saving over $300 from estimate or over $500 from first estimate. A mechanic would have installed it in about an hour. I did call two other shops and got prices if $275 and $259 for the removal and reinstalling a new part. I'm sure glad that I did not leave my vehicle at Auto 2000 (which is where I purchased it last year). I also removed the tag frame that advertised Auto 2000, I will not recommend them anymore.

I'm sorry that you were unhappy with the price quote that you received from 2000 AUTO but I'm glad to hear that you were able to replace the failed part that we identified and get your window back operational.  You can always save a significant amount of money doing work yourself home repairs, appliance repairs,  cooking for yourself rather than going to a restaurant, or fixing your car it's always much more expensive to hire a proffessional. The reason we originally recommended the OEM regulator and motor is because we have found these parts to have a much longer life than the aftermarket parts.

You are correct, you can purchase parts online cheaper than we can purchase them from the local autoparts supplier but the autoparts supplier can usually get the parts to us in a couple of hours rather than waiting a couple of days.  Could you imagine what would happen if we had to order parts online and wait 2 days and if the part was wrong and we had to ship it back and wait 2 days and then then wait 2 more days for the replacement part to be shipped.  Yes online parts are less expensive but we can not properly serve our customers by using these parts and waiting on shipping.  We do on occasion have customers that purchase their own parts and we strickly provide the labor to install the part.  If you had requested, we would have installed your parts.  The down side of providing you own parts is that you are solely responsible for the quality of the part so if the part was defective or failed, there would be no warranty.

As far as your comparison to other shops is concerned, 2000 AUTO is cost competitive with any shop in the Viera and Suntree areas, much lower cost than dealers and we operate at lower margins than the industry standards.  Our goal at 2000 AUTO is not be the cheapest auto repair but to provide the best automotive service available in the county.  The way that we save our customers money is by providing acurate diagnosis, using quality parts so that repairs we make will last and not recommending unnecessary repairs.  To provide the best diagnosis, 2000 AUTO only uses the best technicians and the latest diagnostic tools.  All of our automotive technicians are A level techs with at least 30 years experience.

I think the 1 star rating that you gave us was unfair since this should be a rating of our overall performance and not just one aspect of our performance.  Was our diagnosis correct? It seems like it was since you said the part we told you needed replacement fixed the problem.  Did we perform the diagnosis in a reasonable period of time? Was are staff polite and courteous?  Was the repair required properly explained to you? Did we recommend any services that you did not need? Was our facility clean and well maintained?  I feel these items should all factor into your rating.  Since the only complaint you had is that you thought the cost estimate was too high, I don't think the one star was fair.  Should a premium brand hotel receive a one star rating because they are more expensive than a budget priced hotel?

Again, I'm glad you were able to get your car fixed at a cost that you were happy with.  I'm sorry that you were unhappy with our cost estimate.  Feel free to contact me by phone or email if you would like to discuss this further.

Gary said he appreciated his vehicle being serviced in a timely manner. He stated he was disappointed the oil change cost more than the coupon he had led him to believe. He wanted to use another coupon for a different service. The staff told him that he could not use two coupons during one visit. He also mentioned he was appalled that he had to pay three dollars to dispose of one gallon of oil. He said he will never return to this business.

First let me say thank you for your appreciation for our prompt servicing of your car. We are sorry that you misunderstood the coupons that you had brought with you. We do try to mark clearly on the oil coupons that there is a standard disposal fee and of course tax is applied. To address the issue of not being able to use multiple coupons, the extra coupon that you wanted to apply stated plainly that it could not be used with any other coupon. Once again, our apologies for misunderstanding and we wish you well with future services.

I was a bit perplexed by your disappointment in our "hand written invoice" as we furnish all of our customers with an industry standardized, computer generated invoice at time of pick up. The invoice plainly states the cause and reapairs recommended or performed on your vehicle. Durning the investigation of this matter, our service advisor related that you had requested and were e mailed a copy of our original internal estimate worksheet. We are sorry that the worksheet may not have been as clear as you would have liked.  Please feel free to call on our service manager to clear up any confusion you may have about a recommended repair. The staff at 2000 Auto are trained and certified professionals that strive to help in any way we are able. Once again, thank you for your time.

We are sorry that your trip to watch the launch was marred by hitting something on the highway that resulted in junking your car. We were also disappointed to not find a possible solution to your broken transmission case and lines after pushing your car into our shop and fully inspecting all options. It is standard to charge a minium labor fee for check out and we gladly applied the AAA discount on that for you. On the up side, at least we were able to offer a ride to get something to eat or snacks while you waited, a spare phone to use, a coloring book and you still got to see the launch. I also thank your lovely child for the flowers she picked for me.

Fixing brakes
$800 plus dollars were spent on fixing the brakes. Way too much. You had the car for over a day. Way too long. When the car was picked up and driven home it still had the stange noise when the car was turning right to make a turn. We called back and Steve said there was some rust on the brakes and to drive the car for a few days and wear off the rust. If it still makes a noise bring the car back in for examination. Note: this is my daughters car. She is a single Mom and works - so she doesn't have time to dilly dally and bring the car back if it wasn't fixed correctly. We have been coming to 2000 Auto for years but it doesn't seem to have the zest it had when Mohammed ran the operation.

I am sorry to hear that you were not pleased with your experience on your last visit to 2000 AUTO.  I researched the repair order for your brake repairs and the receipt that we have shows $346.41 not $800, was there some other work that was done that I am not aware of?  I also saw that there is a note on the receipt that states "recommend  rear brake drums replaced to prevent pulsation and noise".  I assume that you were aware that we were recommending the drum replacement to eliminate the noise.  I have not had the oportunity to speak with Steve regarding your repair to determine if there was any additional noise issue other than that which was identified on your receipt. You are correct that under ordinary circumstances it should not take us over a day to complete a routine brake job. Unfortunately due to Hurricane Irma and the associated power outages we had a great deal of difficultly getting parts for our repairs and this resulted in longer than typical repair times in some cases.  I apologize for taking longer than we typical do to complete your brake repair.
As far as the changes that have been made since Mohammed sold me the business 2 and 1/2 years ago, the main thing I have changed is improving the skill level of the technicians we have working here. Instead of having one ASE Master technician on staff, now all three of our technicians are ASE Master Technicians. The skill level of the two additional ASE Master Technicians that I added far exceed those of the technicians they replaced. Our customer service representatives, Steve and Kary are the same two people that have worked at 2000 AUTO for the past 12 years and I believe they are working every bit as hard for me as they did for the previous owner. I believe Steve and Kary do such a great job that we still have customers that don't realize that Mohammed sold this business 2-1/2 years ago. I am sorry you feel that 2000 AUTO doesn't seem to have the same "zest" but you are the very first person that I have heard that from. I will share your comment with Steve and Kary and see if there is anything additional that should be doing to improve our customer relations.

Sometimes estimates given over the phone are slightly different. When we dont have the vehicle to inspect for other possible needed or worn components it should be expected to have a few adjustments.
