No respect for your time
First experience here was Awesome! We moved to Dallas, Ga and I wanted to return because I liked the service. I called before to check timing before driving from Dallas to Woodstock. She assured me they were not busy. We checked in and waited atleast 15 minutes before she came and told me it would be an hour to an hour and a half before they could get to my car.... Is Mike the mechanic the only mechanic??? We left! I called before coming because we had a busy day preparing to leave for vacation. Ridiculous to me that as the customer I prepared on the front end and called only to drive and have my time wasted!!!

Hi Amber,

We are happy to hear that your first experience was awesome and sad to hear you were unhappy this visit.  At the time when you called, we weren’t busy. However, during your drive from Dallas, GA to here, we were inundated with waiting customers. Our policy for our customers who choose to wait is first come, first served. Unfortunately, the car before you had some issues and was taking longer than we would have liked, but that is sometimes the nature with repairing automobiles. Normally we would have offered to drive you home, (and, actually, I believe you were offered a ride by our bookkeeper who wasn’t aware you were from Dallas) however that wasn’t practical due to your living close to an hour away. We apologize that we didn’t realize the extra time needed by the previous car before you had been waiting for 15 minutes.

We hope that your next experience is more pleasurable.

Upon speaking with Brian, the customer called on 4 separate occasions to discuss the vehicle before deciding to bring it to the shop. It is difficult to properly diagnose a vehicle without performing a thorough inspection.  The diagnosis fee was discussed with the customer prior to her bringing the vehicle to the shop. During the diagnosis procedure, the customer declined from having the fuel tank dropped; the customer was seeking a second opinion provided by her dealer for cracked fuel pump housing.  The customer’s declination caused MTM to not have the ability to complete a thorough inspection.  The diagnosis was deemed inconclusive.

Dear Chris,

The extra charge is not because your vehicle needed a filter.  Because the oil filter your vehicle requires is not a cartridge or huge diesel filter, it is included in the $39.99 special. Your vehicle requires more than 5 quarts of oil, which is extra and is noted on the advertisement. You also requested a tire rotation on this service, which is also extra and not included in the special.   Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to make this clarification.

Disappointed
Needed an oil change and for my tires to be checked for a nail, etc. because the warning light had come on. When I arrived I asked how long it might take and was told 30 minutes. It took almost 15 minutes for the receptionist to get me checked in and then it was another hour before my car was finished. But the disappointment came when after asking the mechanic about the tire check I was told that he had "evened out the pressure but didn't have time to do anything else because the girls had left to run an errand and he was the only one there". So I had to leave still concerned about having a flat tire and had to make another stop to get them checked.

Dear Kathy,

When a customer arrives requesting an oil service, they are informed once the vehicle is pulled into the bay, the service lasts approximately 30-45 minutes.  During the time we were establishing your service order, several customers came into the shop also requesting service. Checking in the other customers did take a couple of minutes, which I addressed in my apology to you once everyone was taken care of.  Upon check in, you stated that your tire pressure sensor light had just come on.  The tires were checked and the pressure evened out.  We assured you that we would recheck the tires the next week in which you agreed to bring the vehicle back.  

We do our best to have your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible, however, it can be challenging to forecast how long a wait may actually last.

Auto visit
I had to deal with someone different than normal and it was not the best experience. I made an appointment and confirmed what I needed and was thrown out a price much more than quoted and before even looking at my brakes. I was told at my last oil change a price and exactly what I needed. They guy did not even reference my file he just threw an ungodly number at me. I must say I definitely did not have the experience I am used to there. I don’t even think they did the normal airing of the tires and topping off fluids. I was quoted for Rotors an no one even looked at the car. I had to pay almost 100 more than quoted. On a positive note they always welcome my dog and that makes me continue to go there.

Ms. Frazier,

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. I looked at your history file and found no documentation of any estimates from your last oil change. However, you may have gotten a verbal estimate. Here at MTM we don’t give quotes on auto repair, but we do give estimates. The main difference between a quotation and an estimate is that: a quotation is an agreed fixed price, in which would have been in writing. An estimate is an approximate price that may change. The pads that you had put on your car are good pads, O.E., not just the cheap aftermarket ones. I reviewed your work order and the price you were charged, and you were charged appropriately. We recommend always doing rotors with brake pads so that we can warranty them. What tends to happen when you don’t replace rotors with new pads is the new pads wear unevenly and don't last and you may hear screeching sounds.

We hope you take this information into consideration. We want nothing more than to keep you and your vehicle safe and on the road.

Repair update
After discussing my concern with management, I'm certain the windshield crack was NOT due to negligence by the shop. Sorry for the poor initial score. I just didn't know where to turn with this issue.

Broken windshied
I had several services completed, and we have not had it out of the shop long enough to know how well the repairs were done. HOWEVER, upon receiving the car back we noticed a crack in the windshield that was not there when dropping off the vehicle. A different family drove the car to the shop and verified that the crack was not there at that time. We'd like to hear back about how we can remedy this situation.

Mr. Thompson,

When the vehicle was brought in to MTM we noticed a slight fracture in the windshield. Small cracks can propagate into larger ones in an instant. Temperature swings can put extra stress on the windshield and make it more prone to breaks.  The combination of a scorching summertime heat wave and a powerful air conditioner can be too much for your windshield to bear. The difference in temperatures between the inside of your car and the outside can put added pressure on an already-damaged windshield.  When that happens, chips and cracks get bigger.  Even if you have a tiny crack, a rainstorm or the water you use to wash your car can make its way underneath one layer of glass and get stuck – which can weaken the structural integrity of the entire windshield! It is very common for a crack to start “walking” up the windshield when put on a lift. This is caused by the frame slightly shifting and twisting.

Oil change board advertisement
The $49.99 5 Qt full syn oil special is a bit misleading I would think. I knew by car would hold appx 6.5 quarts of oil but I could not fully identify with the $75 charge for his service. Another 1.5 quarts of oil should not have been an addition charge of $25 of added expense, maybe $60 total? I even inquired about the advertised cost day before when I made appointment????? I would think that the special also included cost for oil filter?

Thank you for your review. 

The extra capacity oil is not the only issue with this vehicle. It also has a cartridge oil filter and a lower engine cover which requires more time to remove and replace. MTM regularly finds that the cartridge filters were not replaced by the previous "Lube Shop" You may want to refer to CBS 46 News and type in "Havoline".

MTM does what customers pay for, others may not.

Good service and friendly staff
Came to Mike's to get a fuel filter installed. This is usually something I'd do myself but with recent back surgery I had to have it done. I was a bit disappointed that I was charged a full hour for 20 mins work, but I guess that's the rules.

Past experiences with Brian and this shop have been above expectations and plan to take my work to them in the future.
