I relay the story so others will not be taken advantage of.
Old Jetta - has a special key to be able to remove a lock bolt on the tires. I got a terrible sidewall flat... stranger helps me change it out to the spare - but takes off with the key to remove the lock bolt in his pocket. So, when I arrive at TKingdom, they can't get the lock bolt off. They proceed to drill it out so they can put a new tire on ( they do NOT tell me I am now missing a bolt) and then it's suggested I go to VW dealership - to get a new key in case I get another flat. The dealership mechanic then insists the original bolts on my car are not VW ( they were never ever changed out and are the original) and then proceeded to tell me there is no key available any more for the old models, and I need to have the other bolts drilled out - $$$$$ and replaced. I am now in near tears..... and when I looked into the mechanics eyes... I felt he was lying... SO in distress I leave and go to CALLOWAY AUTO ( what I should have done in the FIRST PLACE
I arrive at Calloway's & explain the story -- and learn there is a UNIVERSAL KEY & THE DEALERSHIP HAS ONE - in fact all decent mechanics will have this key.
The mechanic at the dealership LIED to my face.... LIED!
In 15 minutes , using the universal key , Calloway Performance removed the lock bolts and replaced them with regular ones -
My lesson - ALWAYS GO TO CALLOWAY FIRST AND NEVER EVER GO TO VW DEALERSHIP AGAIN.
