I was traveling through Portland when the head gasket on my '99 Outback blew, destroying the engine. By coincidence, a 1st Choice mechanic was at the exit where I ended up, he helped push me off the road and tried to get me going. When this failed, he sent me to his Tigard shop where I had a used engine installed within a week. The service mgr. understood my problem and gave me a good, honest deal, which as a traveler, I appreciated. My mechanic at home is hard to please, but he said it was a very good job, which he never says about someone elses work. I so appreciate the service I received, the understanding of the mgr. and the expertise of the mechanics. It would have been easy for them to have blown off a tourist but they didn't, and I appreciate it.
