Impressive culture but time to take responsibility for their subcontractors
I generally am extremely impressed with Metro Kia. Very kind, professional, hard-working, dedicated to their customers. But they/you have a definite weak spot in my opinion - owning up to the work of your subcontractors. Since purchasing a Soul 2 years ago we have had numerous occasions when the seat heater gave out. Metro sent us to Madison Auto Trim to resolve the issue, as they had originally installed the seat heaters. And Auto Trim has tried very hard to fix it, including spending a number of hours re-doing the wiring of our car to resolve it. At the end of last winter it seemed to be working fine, but upon first use this year, the fuse was broken and no heat. I tried to purchase fuses at Menards so I wouldn't have to bother with bringing the vehicle in yet again to Auto Trim, but they didn't have the right size, and buying a kit of 7 (of various sizes) for just one fuse (of the correct 15 amp size) seemed ridiculous. I brought in our car for regular maintenance (22,500 miles), and asked if you could put a fuse in to replace the one I'd taken out to ensure I purchased the right type online. When I picked up the vehicle, I learned you didn't have one in stock, and that it was just as well as it would have been silly to be charged $5 for one fuse. Really??? Really??? You didn't have one 15-amp fuse in stock? And if you had, you would have charged me $5 for it, for a fuse needed because of a problem that we've been enduring & experiencing for two years now? The attitude seemed in keeping with what I've sensed ever since we purchased this vehicle. You own your problems, but you don't own the problems of your subcontractors. I certainly understand that generally referring a customer to the contractor who performed a given job may be most appropriate. At the end of the day, however, you own the work, and as a customer I don't appreciate your being quick to send me off to the subcontractor. If yours was an average dealership, I wouldn't be surprised, and I wouldn't bother commenting (at such length yet!). But generally you do an outstanding job, and this handling of subcontracting work seems to this customer a real Achilles heel of yours.
