2000 BMW 528i

My second Bimmer. I also have an E46 323i, which I love. But my E39 5 series is my favorite! It's more comfortable and built tougher than the 3series.

A driver's car

Once Upon a Time BMW was built for enthusiast, not to compete with Mercedes for high-end luxury cars. I started with my first BMW in 1970 and my 2000 528i stick will probably be my last. I love it but I'm reaching the point where it's not wise for me to drive

One of the best BMW's made. Just keep up the maintenance.

Now that my e39 is almost 18 years old, I'm proud to say this car had been a blast to drive. At just over 140k, more regular maintenance is required. 7k in repairs just this year. It's to be expected for a car this age. I wouldn't trade her for any other car. She's still very fast, quite on the road and moves me and the kids around with ease. Take care of a car and it'll take care of you.

I love my 2000 528i

I have owned BMW's since 1993. I have had several impressive models. But right now in 2020 if you can find a nice e39 then you will be familiar with it's driveline. The 2.8 liter straight six cylinder engine is smooth and the transmission shifts creamy smooth as it should. The car idles quiet as a church mouse and has plenty of power and impressive torque. Plenty of D.I.Y. projects on this car. Easy for me to maintain.

Love it!

Great car now that it has been to My Mechanic. Safe to drive fun to drive and it still gets compliments everywhere I go people love the body style. It amazes me at how smooth the 6 cylinder is and the amount of power it has and the transmission works great backed up to the 6 cylinder it’s fun to drive and gets good mileage on a gallon of gas

200 E-39 540I Sport is a pleasure to drive.

Fantastic car - Bought new in 2000 - remains rattle and squeak free after almost 20 years in service. Powerful and fast, can speak at normal volume with speed in the triple digits - a road bound jet plane for long, quick travel. I love the car and have found nothing new that is a satisfying to drive.

Best BMW ever

This beautiful and timeless design is powered by a 6 or V8 six speed manual. It's the perfect sedan. I love mine, I enjoy it so much. So easy to keep clean and reliable if you DIY. The genuine parts are affordable and DIY on YouTube.

The one BMW got just right.

The BMW E39 5 Series 1997-2003 is in my opinion the best all around car ever made by any manufacturer. It's design is timeless and still holds it's own against many newer models. The five series comes in many flavors/configurations from mild mannered good handling luxury sedans to in your face, no apologies high performance thrill rides. They all provide a luxurious high quality product that is a pleasure to drive

Mom’s hand me down

My mom bought the car new from Weatherford BMW in Berkeley, California. She never misses a service and is an excellent driver no accidents and is not hard on the car. I was 20 years old when she got it no accidents but I used the gas pedal and learned that BMW 4wheel disc ABS breaks are pretty darn impressive. My mom drove our girl 17 years and 180 thousand miles till she got a 2017 BMW 528 and our old girl is mine. She gave me a two inch thick brown legal envelope full of all the service and factory service receipts . The car was towed one time due to a fuel pump failure she wasn’t driving the car at the time you can take a good guess who was. Now I didn’t run the tank dry but when I told her the the fuel light just came on and the computer range counter said I had 47 miles left to witch she replied to me “it has a low fuel light? I did not know that” I wasn’t allowed to use the car for a long while. The first year I had the car with no problems than she started to get the high mileage problems oil filter housing gasket started leaking got a bank two misfire code code started happening. I live in Sacramento California and the second summer the radiator and filler tank went bad. So I thought about getting something else but I was looking at spending 4-5 grand on something decent but nothing compares. The car looks great cosmetically the body style is timeless and desirable and I knew the car inside and out so I got on line found fcpeuro and ecstuning. It had been some years since I had the hot rod itch and had my 86 z28 that I put a small block 400 6 speed and bear racing 4 Wheel disc break set up from the ZR1 corvette. I spent 2 grand on that break system. I must of driven something with a top notch break system to get that idea. 🤭. So I was itching so I got to scratching. Coolant system over haul, water pump thermostat assembly, under drive metal pulleys new belts and tensioners , clutch fan, delete cold, air intake aftermarket ignition coil packs two cam position sensor’s crank position sensor. Intake oil filter, housing valve cover gaskets. Coil over shocks all four corners, remanufactured brake calipers, steel braided brake lines all four corners. A shark ECU map program. 1200watt amp pushing 2 twelves to give the factory DSP some low end bump. Worth every penny and I’ve had no problems.
