Just over 15 years in service and still going strong. Well engineered, well built and safe. Not burdened with radar and sonar,etc. as in newer models - less stuff to break. BMW got the AWD right in this second generation. Not inexpensive to run but what else is these days.

The best

Best car I ever owned; always a great driving experience. I can drive this car for over eight hours and not feel road tired. My x5 has over 150,00 miles on it and drives like it just came out of the showroom.

Love my X5!

This is my fifth German vehicle and it is my absolute favorite by far. I have spent a little bit on repairs, mostly maintenance, I truly love my X5!

Fun to drive.

This vehicle is great on the highway at high speeds or windy conditions. It handles superbly. My only issue is the cost of repairs and the few certified mechanics available to work on it.

2005 BMW X-5

I love the vehicle when it is running well. Howevwe, it has had far too many expensive repairs for a luxury vehicle. Even with my extended warranty, my out of pocket repair costs for items not under warranty were in excess of $ $7,000 in 8 years. My extended warranty was an additional $3500. Not what I expected in a luxury vehicle.
