Impractical year for the Tahoe

This "City" version of the Tahoe does not satisfy. The technological dependencies for that era were hopeful but fall short for today's driver. I miss the mid 90's rugged build and back seat fold-down storage option. If the battery dies, there is no manual key rear hatch entry. The stock Bose speakers are decent but the sound system as a whole is seriously lacking after experiencing the newer model's upgrades. For so many driver dash settings options, they mostly seem so extra and unnecessary. If garage kept and routinely serviced it is a swell around town grocery getter, but the driver seats tend to wear and tear the fastest and the oxidation of the AC and radio plastic is hard to miss from the repeated condensation sweat. The cab begins to shake after 200,000 miles versus the older, heavier bodies that just seemed sturdier and safer. I'm just not a fan of this "awkward inbetween years" Tahoe.

Trusty Rusty

My Tahoe has over 200K miles now. I'm the third owner and it is in great shape mechanically and really runs well. The powertrain still seems really strong. Unfortunately, rust is really attacking the front fenders and rear quarter panel. If I can find some cheap front fenders I will probably change them out.

Bought used, runs well, needed work

Was looking for a Tahoe, several were bought before I had a chance to see them. Bought a 2004 Tahoe LT, red, beige interior. Ran good from day one but did need cosmetic attention. Rust under the doors, almost every older Tahoe, Suburban, pickup, etc... seems to have this problem. I reinforced with 4 inch wide by 84 inch long stainless steel panel and Bondo. Looks good and solid. Minor interior issues related to age. Beige interior. I removed front seats and recovered the seats. Not hard to remove the seats or recover. Will need an extra hand to stretch the new covers. Amazon has the STAR bit needed for seat bolt removal. Harbor Freight also has the bit needed. Replaced the carpet, without seats installed it's very easy. Apparently the radiator on 2004 and others in general year range can go bad. Mine did. Had it replaced,$800.00 with new antifreeze, new hoses, new resovoir, and Pennsylvania inspection, no problems with inpection. Runs great. Much more even heat and AC air flow.

CHEVY RUNS DEEP

Won't drive anything but a Chevy. Recently upgraded from the Chevy Blazer to the Tahoe. Didn't think I could love a car more than I loved the Blazer...until I drove the Tahoe. The Tahoe is simply a magnificent piece of beautiful machinery.

Great vehicle for Colorado conditions

I purchased it from the great guys at TRINITY MOTORS here in town because I had purchased a 26 foot travel trailer and needed the right vehicle for towing. TRINITY will never steer you wrong. It performs beautifully as a tow vehicle and the 4 wheel drive has been great in our harsh winter. It's a great looking and performing CHEVY TAHOE and Mike at AUTOWERKS keeps it running like a champ.

Love my Tahoe!!!

Owned since 3000 miles!!! Mostly routine maintenance and only a few bigger maintenance issues so far!!! Owned for 13 years and still going strong!!!

Keeps running

I have 219,000 miles and it still runs like a champ, looks good too. Best vehicle I've ever had. Hate to get something new they may not build them like they use to.

2004 Tahone

Great reliability with entire drive train and brake system. Has made multiple 800+ mile one way trips in 13 hours with no fatigue. Like it so much bought a Traverse for my wife's personal vehicle which she never lets me drive.

Love my 2004 Tahoe

I am forced to buy cars a little differently than most other drivers. I am 6'6" and 320 lbs., so the fit of the vehicle is most important. The Tahoe is very comfortable. Rides very well. Everybody in my family has borrowed it at some time and they all love it.

classic reliable workhorse

This classic workhorse with the 5.3L engine is our daily driver, camper puller and utility hauler. Ours has 227k miles and with regular maintenance and occasional repair it has been reliable and comfortable. Ours is a loaded Z71 with leather & 4WD.

I love it.

I absolutely love my Chevrolet 4×4 Tahoe. Very easy to drive and reliable even in the most adverse weather conditions. My Chevrolet Tahoe also has the Z-71 tow kit with a reinforced truck frame. I call it my 4×4 station wagon on steroids.

Oil change and brake service

Runs good and brakes are great. No problems no worries! It’s been an awesome experience with these trucks. It’s our 4th one we had. We wouldn’t switch it for an other suv. For a family of 5 plus grandparents we travel safe.

Great vehicle

One of the best vehicles I've owned. It has done more than I expected with no problems. Other than normal maintenance I have had no issues with it. There was 130,000 miles on it when I bought it and now it is getting close to 200,000 miles. Still going strong.

Bought with 97k for 7 K 12 years ago.

Ls1 engine 5.3 L I have replaced transmission at 234k due to operator error. Replaced knock sensors, intake gaskets, water pump, starter, Alternator twice, front wheel bearings and half shafts. Brakes including new rotors and calipers all around. Engine looses 1 qt oil every oil change. Likes to loose coolant about every 3 months. Stay on top of leaks and engine is still strong. Starts up every time and runs smooth. 40lbs oil pressure when driving. I don't mind. Maintenance. Noisy lifter if sits without running for a few days. Quites down quick.
