New '22 Launch Edition - trouble starting

I purchased a new 2022 G70 Launch Edition. Within the first week, I had an issue with the car starting. The brake would not depress causing the push start not to work. In driving the car only several times, this issue has now happened twice (owned the car ~3 weeks). The dealer was unable to replicate the issue and so currently there is no fix. This appears to be a known issue with older model G70s. So, it is pretty ridiculous that this issue has not been fixed on the new model. Overall, it greatly concerns me that the supposedly "premier" launch edition has issues within the first week of ownership. So, I fully expect the other trim levels to have issues. Supposedly, Genesis is supposed to have excellent predicted reliability, but my experience so far bodes very poorly for long term worry-free ownership. In summary, I have purchased many new cars, but this is the first one I have ever regretted buying. Therefore, I would not recommend anyone purchasing a G70.

Love the vehicle but with such poor supervision of Genesis dealerships i will be dumping the vehicle in weeks. If i am unable to trust the dealerships is certainly don't wish to keep a vehicle where the dealerships are of questionable integrity. .

I have found after owning over 50 vehicles, if you can't trust the dealerships odds are you can't trust the car.

Embarrassing gas mileage

18mpg for a 2.0 engine in a sedan in 2022. The car is brand new, I drive highway and city. In eco mode that is the mileage I'm getting. It's just unbelievable, such beautiful car with such an inefficient engine. I wish I had done my research on gas mileage

Great car, extremely poor service

The car is great, but my experience with the Genesis brand has been poor. I had a minor accident just two weeks after I purchased the vehicle. It has now been over 2 1/2 months and the car is still sitting in the repair shop because nobody can locate the part. I contacted Genesis concierge and they were unwilling or unable to help, either with locating the part or offering a rental car. I have owned new Mercedes, Audi, and BMW vehicles. I've never had this type of experience. I expected more from this luxury brand.

Bait and Switch

They made me buy LoJack as a condition of sale. I wanted the car, voiced my opposition to this nonsense, but they insisted if you want the car, you buy LoJack. I should have left then. Multiple L front sensor problems. Terrible Service experience. Promise a lot at dealer -- they don't deliver.

G70

Having issues and dealer not able to figure it out. Hyundai dealer wasn’t upfront about no longer servicing the genesis cars. Very disappointed. I would not recommend a Genesis to anyone as there’s not enough dealerships in. It looks like there’s some reliability issues as my controls weren’t working when I first got the car and now another one is not working and they can’t figure it out after having the car for over a week. The dealer has been unresponsive and not calling me back as well.

1. Not able to adjust headlight sensitivity 2. Old style gas pump with car button open and twist cap 3. No readout of overall mpg 4. No wireless apple CarPlay 5. Doesn’t lock automatically when I walk away 6. Slow to turn over when I started car once 7. Rumbles when slowing down sometimes and hesitates when accelerating

Great car, horrible dealer service

I would give the vehicle a 5, but the service after the fact a 0. I noticed a problem with the window trim right after I got the car, so I took it to the local Genesis dealership. They didn’t even look at it, just scheduled service for 2 months out. Great car, but they don’t care about you after you buy it.

Great car subpar dealer experience

While the style and initial appeal are high, the dealerships promises quickly fade and the appeal of Genesis brand is gone. I've never had such consistently poor interaction with dealerships, with different excuses and lies. Even when getting Genesis of America involved the bare minimum is done to get dealers to comply and even in the end the customer ends up with the shortest stick.

Good, But Needs Improvement

In general, this is one of the most beautiful cars on the road. Overall, it’s a good car. But that’s the most I can say at this time. The car is just far too noisy, with too many rattles, vibrations, and crackles. I feel that the cabin has been cheapened considerably compared to the 2020 version of this car. Also, the suspension of the vehicle is soft, or weak. It’s a bouncy ride, even in Sport+ mode.

SAfety Issues

I have experienced several failures with the advanced safety features that were a large part of my decision to buy this car. If I can not use the car safely, or if I am embarrassed to have others in the car, it is of no use to me. If Genesis can not fix the issues, or if I have an accident because of them, I will definitely replace the car with a different make.

Great on paper, OK in actuality

The 2022 Genesis G70 is one of the best styles and unique looking vehicles on the road currently. On paper it has loads of features and power for a bargain of a price that still comes with all the high end service features the long established competition offers. These features such as using their app to schedule service, vehicle pick up and loan, and dealership quality and are falsehoods with Genesis. While they make offer them, they only be available certain times and never when you need them. Genesis is a company trying to market themselves as a premium brand but still treat you like you own a Hyundai or a Kia.

Could be a Great Vehicle

This car handles well on the road. There is insufficient back seat space and the trunk is too small. The service for Genesis is my area is almost nonexistent. This is not my best Genesis experience. I have owned three cars from this brand. I purchased the first Genesis (Hyundai Genesis 3.8 and then a 4.6. I am disappointed with the 2022 Genesis G70.

Limited Dealer Support

Despite the extravagant promises of concierge service, complementary maintenance, and bumper-to-bumper warranty, I've found dealer support is almost none-existent. Service Dept at the dealer I bought my G70 from became non-responsive, and the one I have to use is a 2-hour drive each way. "Complementary" routine maintenance is a 2-3 month wait. And the "Concierge Service" they brag on is "geographically limited;" i.e., you pretty much have to live next to the dealership. Because they totally separated from Hyundai, there's really no dealer network to rely on. Love the car - better than a C-Class, if you ask me - but buy a Genesis, and you are on your own.

Genesis moving in the right direction but has a ways to go

The beautiful exterior and sleek finish make you excited to own or lease one of these vehicles. But space limitations, subpar package options & weird user control placements combined with poor customer service (connected services) curb your expectations. I could not drive more than one person around comfortably due to the backseat having about 3 inches of clearance when the front seats were in the further back position. My wife is 5'2" and even when she's driving I cannot fit behind her in the back seats. The package options additions are not that great unless you get the TOP of the line one. The sport package basically just came with better wheels. The problem is I wanted the sport due to the engine and the wheels etc. vs. the top of the line package. But I lost out on the dash display camera when changing lanes, apple car play via Bluetooth (this model required a cord), trunk auto close, and other options. User controls and buttons for the entertainment display and the climate control are in very weird areas of the dash or just overall hard to reach making it difficult and dangerous to use while driving. The connected services team is sub-par at that, they are supposed to help schedule maintenance and other things vs you having to contact a dealership. However, they never get back to you when they say they will and it takes months to get something scheduled with a dealer, and by that time you are already 2K miles past your scheduled maintenance.

Poor exterior and some interior quality

I was very disappointed firstly with the dealership. Their customer service for their most high-end vehicle was far from being treated with satisfactory customer service I might as well have bought a Hyundai sonata. Secondly, I chose to buy a Genesis based on what I thought were great amenities I might as well have bought another high-end vehicle and gotten better customer service and no run around as to how we gonna solve all the issues I'm having with the Genesis. I am hoping Genesis can turn this experience around for the better.

So close

I had high hopes for this car and this brand in general. After a year with the car, the concessions genesis made to remain competitive in the segment have become very apparent, and some of them are hard to live with in a daily driver. Harsh downshifts in any drive mode, bad gas mileage, soft paint make driving this thing in traffic kind of a drag. The interior has no ambient lighting and is noisy. I don’t mind the harder suspension, or the amount of feedback through the steering wheel, these things are actually positives for me, but they don’t matter in a daily commute. This is a great open road car, but I’m having a hard time justifying its existence in city traffic.

Beautiful styling/Terrible fuel economy

At first sight you’re taken back by the beautiful styling of the G70. After actually using the car day to day you realize how small the care actually is. I have an 8 and 9 year old who beg me not to use this car to take them anywhere because of the size of the limited leg room. Fuel economy is a big negative. I will say the v6 engine is fun to drive.
