2012 Hyundai Azera (lower cost of the two models)

Car handles very well. A little stiff, noticeable in particular in potholed streets of New York City. Handles well, easy to park. Rear-view camera very helpful for parking. Car came with Sirius XM radio for 3 months as I recall. We liked it so much we have renewed it since then.

Great car just terribly unreliable

When your wifes car won't start reliably, several dynamics are at play. She is a professional lady. Car won't start, 100+ degrees outside. Raining outside. 28 degrees outside. Sketchy neighborhood maybe. Get out of the car with her "jumper box", open the hood, connect the jumper, get back in the car and start, back out of the car to disconnect said jumper box, close hood, get back in the car sweating, wet from rain, freezing cold or thanking God for protecting her from whatever lurked around the corner. Then after she got home, plugging in the jumper box to make sure it would be ready for the next day. This car was in three different Hyundai dealerships multiple times over a 6 year period and none could ever diagnose the electrical problem that killed batteries and repair the problem. Twice keeping 10 days or more. Thankfully the car went to auction and my wife is now happily drive a new non-Hyundai vehicle.

disappointed

Had a 2008 Azera and absolutely loved it. I traded it in for a newer model and that was a huge mistake. The 2102 model is the worst car I've owned to date. Lots of problems with the car, drives rough and doesnt have very good pick up for a V6.

Start up noise in engine

Nice car but there is a loud noise on start up had it it to the dealer three time they can not find the sours of the noise nowbits out of warranty still have the noise.

Over grown Sonota

The Azera is a nice looking car compared to the Sonota but it falls short after that....resale value is rather poor compared to its smaller sibling....(Sonota) Azera has defective issues that are overlooked by its company...the steering coupler is a common defect found on the Sonota and Elantra and are covered under warranty but for the few customers that elected to purchase the Azera are out of luck and will have to pay for the repair..I hope that Hyundai would look into this and stand behind their product line.

On 3D MOTOR!

I love my 2012 Hyundai Azera but unfortunately it is on it's third motor at 75,000 miles. First motor was put in when it only had 34,000 miles due to a loud grinding noise at start up. They drop the oil pan and found metal shavings. Cost to Hyundai was $15,000! Cost to me zero. At 75,000 miles same noises were coming from the engine and again metal shavings in the oil pan...so I just got another new motor...cost $13,000 to Hyundai...zero to me. I have a 200,000 mile drivetrain warranty with a $100 deductible so it this point I will just keep this car and keep driving it because I do love it. I guess if Hyundai wants to keep putting new motors in… I will let them. I have been on other car sites and saying that other people with the 2012 model having the same issues. Engine flaw of some type. I don't think you can find better legroom in the back seats of any car. Interior and exterior styling is a 10. Horse power is almost 300 so you definitely cannot complain about that!

Azera is not too good to me

First off in the beginning I loved the Azera mainly because of the style but as being the only driver of a brand new car since 2012, the sound of the engine start up after sitting I’m always told by strangers YOUR needs oil, however I never miss an oil change.. had a lot problems with it stalling but no one can find what’s wrong with it, even wanted to get rid of it for something else with even more miles than my Azera ( not at 100,000 miles yet? Overall I wished I would’ve returned after leasing but opted to keep it because I liked the Azera a lot... my everyday regret ?

Problematic

Two fuel pumps, front hub bearing, clicking sound in steering wheel, oil switch, A/C fan, and Two catalyst, if I add all my repairs up where talking over 6 grand worth of work very disappointed in the brand

Quality

Quality is not there, replaced the armrest cover, cover wore out. Wheels cracked. Window knobs cracked. Console cover inside of cabin peeling. When it rains, if you open the trunk, water gets in the trunk

Owner review 2012 Azera

Very nice inside. Nicely appointed with features and very comfortable. A very pretty vehicle which draws attention where ever it goes. Performance and fuel mileage are remarkable features. It's great to drive a big comfortable vehicle while enjoying the fuel mileage advantage. An excellent vehicle. Because of our like of the Azera, we recently also bought a Sonata. Prior to the Azera, we had had only Cadillacs for years but I guess we are a Hyundai family now and enjoying the savings.

Fine car with lots of amenities; poor city mileage

I love my Azera with all the amenities that make it fun to drive. But city gas mileage is poor at about 15-16. However, I get great Interstate mileage with cruise control, sometimes as much as 30+. Too bad Hyundai sells so few of these. I understand the model is likely to go away.

Dependable strength

I really like and enjoy my Azera! A very dependable ride with uncommon mystic and outstanding smoothness. I've owned my vehicle since 2012, and due to my job, I've placed over 120k miles on the vehicle. I promise you I get maintainence on a regular basis at the same dealership service department. With that said, I don't think I've spent over $1,800 in maintenance or parts replace because of the fantastic warranty and/or the car didn't need hardly any placement parts. The major issues I've had were failing battery after 6months x 2 (2 yrs since last change); knocking sound from steering wheel '16 ( tighten some things up- no more sound); tire changes from normal wear and tear, and 1 flat replacement at no cost due to road hazard insurance. If this car had at least 310Hp and higher torque - it be perfect. The ride remains smooth as day one, the cabin still quiet, the paint still brilliant, materials and amenities still function without incident... And I still get compliments with factory everything -incl factory/dealer installed tinted windows....

Beautiful Car Loaded with Features

I enjoyed my time with the car; the exterior is attractive and the interior has impressed everyone who has accompanied me in my car. There are cars in the same price range that drives a little smoother, however, the 2012 Hyundai Azera has it beat when it comes to features.

Nice car

I like the car and glad I bought it. Fuel mileage is very good. Very tight no Sqeaks/Rattles, rear cabin is a little noisy probably from cheap tires that also effect the ride. I'm tall and sit back&low it's very comfortable if steering wheel came out a little more/perfect. The moon roof and shade are great

still loving this car

Even after four years of use I get compliments from other owners about the styling and looks of my 2012 Azera. It has been very reliable and has not required any major repairs. The bad news is that the ride is a bit rough and road noise is noticeable. Also, city mileage is poor but highway cruise control miles have approached 30 m.p.g.
