Falls short of MPG expectations

All in all its not a bad little car especially if one considers the $$$ paid for what is inside! The heated seats are a huge comfort to the spouse; steering wheel controls are handy and easy to use, BT connectivity sometimes is a GOD Sent!. The ride does feel stiff at moments and its a bit noisy (one CAN hear the road from below the floor) My biggest complaint is MPG!!!! This was the main reason I bought the Elantra. Advertised MPG was 33 city/ 39 hwy. I NEVER NEVER came anywhere near these numbers!! Couple of times I went over 30 on the highway...most of the time it was around 28; the city numbers are totally dismal..... 21/23.... many times falling into teens I was told that the advertised MPGs are EPA estimates and I understand that, however.... I am not a 16-yo with his 1st car and I've had many cars before. I would thus expect probably about 29/30 city and 35 - hwy (all in all perhaps 5 MPG drop from the estimated numbers - NOT 10/11) Huyndai did fess up 2 years ago that their MPG claim was incorrect and adjusted them downward. They even admittedly told the owners that they would reimburse for gas, but somehow I couldn't be eligible (Although mine is 2013 Elantra GT - I was told that my VIN is 'not the right one', which I could not understand since I obviously DO have the problem as described) I also thought that the tires are 'cheap'. All mine were ready to be changed at about 35K - RIGHT on the nose when the manufacturer's warranty on them expired! One even started going flat on a daily basis...right in the middle of January - nice time to do so :( Cheap Korean Tires! Did some homework and changed them all to Bridgestone (US made and 70K warranty - THAT is the way to have tires!) Overall... have mixed feelings as not completely sure that I would get another Hyundai again, which is a shame - I had better hopes for this little car

Small car great pick up

Love my GT -- except in the winter -- it is cute and fun to drive especially with the sun roof open -- have taken it to Myrtle Beach and the ride and gas mileage was great.

Love the Hyundai Elanta GT!

So far, my 3 year old GT has been problem free and I love the hatchback/trunk access and extra storage room. Get lots of compliments on this car from friends and they're always surprised it's a Hyundai :-)

So far fantastic.

Has been very reliable, just like all the other Hyundai's we have purchased. On the NEW vehicles Tucson & Santa Fe 5 passenger, would like to see in a V6 like the 2.7 litre six you used to use. All ours with this engine got over 30 MPG on freeway, which is what most individuals would like.

Sporty Hatchback for a great price

The 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT we bought is a winner. It was the floor room show model so it had some extras. It came with tinted windows, the panoramic roof, leather interior, bluetooth surround sound system, sport steering, hands free calling, custom rims and Hyundai's Bluelink roadside assistance and maintenance reminder. It has a smaller engine than other similar hatchbacks but it still has plenty of speed and pick up to pass any 18 wheeler on the freeway in a flash, and it gets great gas mileage for a non hybrid. We average 35-40mpg on the highway and 25-30mpg around town. When you put the rear seats down you can haul a lot of stuff. We used it to get our new dryer, and carried (3) 55 gallon water drums in the back with no problem. In fact it has more storage space than my 2013 Sonata Sedan does! On top of all this, it is a great looking sporty GT Hatchback that gets a lot of looks. For the price and the overall package, I'd say Hyundai hit a home-run with this one! My only disappointment is that they stopped offering the Elantra Hatchback after the 2013 year model.

Great car

My Hyundai Elantra GT is a reliable, comfortable and sporty feeling car. The sports package with the navigation system, moon roof, stereo system is very enjoyable. The navigation screen is very easy to read. It is very easy to park also.

my hyundai gt

I love my Hyundai Gt because it is reliable in all kinds of weather, rain, snow and ice. it is a good size for me to shop and easy to park...I can take 3 friends comfortably and still have room for packages...I really like my car and am thinking of getting a new (2017) Hyundai Elantra Gt.

Nice all-around vehicle

I was in a bit of a crunch to purchase a new car after my old Saturn was totaled. I had previously driven the sedan version via Enterprise rental, so when it came time to purchase, Hyundai was on the top of my list. I sometimes have a bit of gear to carry so the drop down back seats and hatchback were very important. I also wanted it in red! I tested several others, including the Honda Fit, Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius and Prius C, and a Scion hatchback, and the GT by far had all the features I wanted, looked nice and was fun to drive. So I managed to find it all in this car. Plus the long warranty and great ratings on Edmunds made this a win-win. Being previously owned I couldn't get some better interior features like a sunroof, built-in navigation and better audio console. If I had the money, I would have opted for the newer model, but overall I'm very happy

Love this car!

I nearly cried when I parted with the Saturn I drove for 23 years. But I love this car even more! Improvements included the back windshield wiper, USB port for my music, blueray for hands-free phone calls, controls on the steering wheel itself, and the backing up warning signal. (Also things other cars had for decades that I had lived without, like cup holders and a CD player.) A pleasure to drive. And it's cute.

Love this car!

I love this car! Has great pick up on acceleration. Nice looking on inside and outside. The hatchback can fit a tone of stuff with the seats down. I test drove all the hatchbacks and this was the best one. Very happy with this purchase after 2 years and 29k miles of driving.

Excellent commuter car

I bought my Elantra Gt for a commuter car that would be good on gas mileage, comfortably fit a child seat in the back, have room for a bit of luggage (for frequent airport travel), and would be comfortable. I wanted a manual transmission (getting hard to find these days), with some luxuries such as heated seats, panoramic roof, leather upholstery, and steering wheel controls. It is a fun little car, and serves its purpose well.
