Happy with car with a few exceptions. Glove box should lock, center compartment should have a test, must have backup camera. Can't see back end of car

Spacious, Nimble Hatchback

I did not go to my local Hyundai dealer with the intent to buy an Elantra GT. After seeing one in the showroom and test driving one from the lot, I was sold. The car handles very well, I call it "the skate" as it sits lower to the ground and handles turns and windy roads very well. Acceleration is good, it could be better if the 6-speed automatic responded more quickly or if they used a CVT transmission. The seating is comfortable even on a longer trip. As expected of a smaller vehicle, the ride can be a little rough on rough roads. Standard sound system is great, including satellite radio. There is significant cargo room with the back seats down. I have to mention that I have consistently achieved higher mileage than was stated on the window sticker. I regularly average 32 to 34 MPG on a tankful of gas, mixed city, and highway driving. On the highway, I have achieved 40 MPG during long stretches running at 65 mph and averaged 38 MPG for a whole tank of gas, all highway miles.

I love hatchbacks.

Almost everything about the hatchback is a "win" for me. I've owned three different kinds of them. They are good for people of short stature, allowing us to access the trunk area with ease. I especially appreciate the cargo cover so trunk items cannot be seen. The car handles well but sometimes the gears shifting up and down as speed varies is a bit disconcerting. I like the daytime running lights. The generous warranty offered by Hyundai also is a plus. I like the overall looks of the car also, very attractive.

Handles very well

Handles well even in the winter. I had a Mini Cooper before and this handle quite similar. Its a little bigger obviously, but rides well and still fun to drive.

My ELANTRA

Overall, good economic vehicle. At first, wasn't what I was looking for, but past vehicle (sonata, Vera Cruz, Accent ) & their history/reliability had me coming back. The Elantra has taken a beaten, literally (hit a 400 pound hog at night, 75 mph), damage was there but car was still handling well....fixed, then I was hit....car just keeps intact. Only negative, wish I could have afforded the more luxury items, mainly nice wheels and camera......but for what is was offered for thecprice, everything worked out.

Great vehicle

The car is a great value for what I paid. Great gas mileage, great features. The only problem is the shifting of the gears at lower speeds. The vehicle becomes awkward and hesitates.

Try it, you will like it.

Nice car. Lots of pep. Only drawback is difficulty seeing out all the windows as car seat sits too low in the vehicle. This is especially true for me, a short person.needs rear view camera.

2016 Elantra GT

Love my cars interior that’s what Made me make up my mind instead of waiting for the 2018 version. I love how the dashboard just flows unlike the Elantra sedan where it looks so squared not a fan. I love the rear LED lights on my Elantra some LED headlights in the front would have been awesome but I guess you can’t have it all.

Comparing my 2013 and 2016 Elantra

The 2016 color isn't quite as RED as my last one but It's ok. The thing I hate is the sound it makes to tell me that the road is cold. I already know it's cold! I live in MN! I miss the dashboard compartment I used to have on my 2013.

liked my 2004 Elantra much better. this 2016 is shorter, harder to see out back window - and this window is a dirt magnet as is all of rear area from aerodynamics. if I stand near the car - it will lock itself within 45 seconds by manufacturer design - why?? very aggravating!!! I can lock the door myself thank you. The front post angles makes it hard to see oncoming traffic at times - dangerous - too much post at too extended angle. Also hard to scrap ice and snow off front window when window is not level with post - have to push snow and ice up to near roof to get it out and off windshield. post should be level with window, not higher. DESPITE THE ABOVE COMPLAINTS, WHICH I DID NOT HAVE WITH 2004 ELANTRA, it is still a good solid reliable car. I am just afraid you will try to do too much to please too many people that did not happen with the 2004 model, which was mass produced with very few option that kept the cost down.

Good sans heating and defrosting systems. Car is very slow to warm up and to clear windows. Living in Minnesota, this is a significant issue for me and will impact my decisions when buying a car in the future.

I like the car although i prefer a softer ride. I wish it would have come with a backup camera. The car is a bit loud so i wish there was more soundproofing. I love the hatchback and the design of the vehicle.
