Fun Car Ruined by "Safety" Features

The Elantra N looks sleek and stylish and it handles nicely being very quick and responsive. I could forgive the loose panels if it wasn't for the Driver Attention Warning. After an hour of driving this thing will start beeping non stop. It doesn't matter if you're driving in a perfectly straight line it will still beep at you ev3ry couple of minutes. Its loud and distracting and forces you to take your eyes off the road. I've combed through the manual and online forums and this thing cannot be turned off so long rides are miserable AND unsafe! Modern cars are over computerized and it ruins them. Do not buy the 2035 Elantra.

Octane learning ruined my tack day

I sold my 2021 Type-R Limited Edition and bought this as my new daily/track car. This car is almost as good as the type R at everything it does for a bargain. As a daily it’s great, comfy, perfect size and fun to drive. As a track car it is unbelievably frustrating because of OCTANE LEARNING!!! Wasted a whole track session trying to get it to let me use all of the car I paid for with no luck, did my remaining sessions maxed out at 15psi and hitting less stop speed in the straights than I did in my stock 21 wrx. Incredibly disappointing and frustrating. I otherwise love this car but couldn’t recommend it to any of my track/autocross friends for this reason. If that is solved I will likely be a Hyundai enthusiast for life

Disappointed

This vehicle is one that replaced my Hyundai Kona N that could not be repaired correctly. The car will not octane learn and the launch control does not work. Hyundai has claimed that this is normal and I will have to live with it not functioning. This is unacceptable.

Trouble Since Day One

This is a beautiful vehicle, however it has already qualified for LemonLaw before 1500 miles. The third brake light does not work. It has been in the shop 5 times. On top of that the dealership we bought it at has caused additional issues with car while it was in their care including hail damage and getting it into an accident.Hyundai wants us to pay them 5k to "buy the car back". Not a fair offer given the multiple circumstances. As someone who has been loyal to the brand and purchased 6 cars in the last 3 years from them, I would hope they would do something to make this situation right.

The octane learning feature is just awful.

I would like to see Hyundai remove/fix the octane learning feature. It’s tedious and it never seems to work. Also, some kind of indication to let the driver know when they’ve achieved OL would be nice too.

Good but not great, needs major improvement to compete w/ other brands

Over all the car is decent, I’m not in love with it as I feel there are areas that need major improvement. There are noticeable gaps in the build, especially around the hood, which appears misaligned and has a large gap. Inside the vehicle, similar issues exist with the molding, which shows uneven spacing in several areas. When lifted, the windshield wipers scrape against the hood, leading to paint damage, a design flaw that could have been easily avoided. It’s disappointing that wireless Apple CarPlay isn’t available on this model, especially considering it’s basically a standard feature in many vehicles. It’s also unclear why a sunroof isn’t offered, particularly when it is available on the automatic version of the same model. The speakers are decent, but the voice control system seems to focus on the driver’s side, which negatively impacts the overall sound balance in the cabin. The key fob feels unnecessarily large and bulky. It’s confusing why the key isn’t integrated into the fob if it’s going to be this big, instead now theirs two separate components a step backward in design. Additionally, the fob feels a bit cheap for what’s supposed to be one of the brand’s higher-end models. There’s even a blank button on the fob, which may be used for remote start in other models. Instead of just swapping the logo on the back and removing features, the fob should be uniquely designed for this model or at least retain functional parity.

Dash screen issues

I love the vehicle but I already have issues with the electronics at least than 2000 miles in. The dash screen frequently flickers off after I drive it a couple blocks and stays in a reboot cycle leaving me unable to access my speedometer, or any other important gauges or information.

Terrible dealer experience, quality problems

Prepair to be "whelmed" (not over or under...just "whelmed")

This review is from the perspective of a life time Hyundai owner, starting from my first car, which was a 1993 Excel 4 Speed Manual. Paid $800.00 for it. I hade 115K miles on it, and never left me stranded! The next Hyundai I had was a used 2003 Elantra GT 4 Speed Manual. Never left me stranded. That elantra was traded in for a 2013 Elantra GT 6 speed manual. Never left me stranded. That elantra was traded in for a 2020 Elantra GT N-Line 6 speed manual. Never left me stranded, but it did get destroyed in a violent accident at the hands of a mentally unstable person who crashed into me from behind going 100MPH. That car saved my life with next to no injuries. None of these cars gave me "cheap" vibes (excel the 93 excel...it had the door of a WWII willies jeep! lol) That felt cheap because it was supposed to be that way. That brings me to today and to this review. The insurance settlement from that accident allowed me to purchase (in full) a brand new 2025 Elantra N with a 6 speed manual in a beautiful red. I've wanted this vehicle since it launched. It's not a bad car, but it's not a great car either. None of my past Hyundai vehicles gave me "cheap quality" vibes (93 excell doesn't count). I was never aprehensive that something is about to break or fall off. I get those vibes from this car and it makes me sad. Body panel gaps do not line up. DO NOT look for this because you cannot unsee it once you have seen it, but it's true! Less than 1000 miles into owning the car and the clutch pedal makes an annoying "squeeking" sound when driving. Every...single...time....you press the clutch. Why is this? Hyundai (in an effort to save 3 cents) now makes their clutch pedals from composite plastic. Worse than that, the actuating arm that goes from the pedal arm, through the firewall is also composite plastic. Somehow, even worse, they also use a composite plastic bushing between the fire wall and the acuating arm WITHOUT any lubrication. Plastic on plastic....amazing. Even if you lubricate this, the squeeking will stop...only for a bit. This example of cheap materials extends throughout the entire car. Heck, even the little LCD display for the radio is covered in a plastic so soft that if you wipe it off with anything other than a silk sheet, it will look scuffed....because it is and now will be forever! Piano black plastic everywhere else so you get those amazing smudge markes on everything you touch. Always a classy look. All of the outside trim on the car is the worse quality plastic you're going to feel. If you touch it, it will "wiggle" at the slightest touch. Even the plastic panels on the "A/B/C" pillars feels like it's going to fall off. (careful in those car washes!) To that point, people's trunk lids are "popping off" to a degree. They're held on with freaking adheasive! Bumper clips on the front just pop off! No joke. Knock sensors going off if you go through a carwash that has underbody cleaning....seriously... This is the first time in decades of owning Hyundai vehicles that I've questioned the quality of the vehicle, and by extension, my purchase. Don't get me too wrong here. I love the way my car looks and I love the performance. It has great interior space. The ride quality is "okay" in all of the non-n modes, but it could be better. N-Mode ride quality is what you'd expect, and is perfect for that mode. Again, cheapness made them remove the rear air duct vents for the rear passenters? Why? You can even purchase the koren center console parts that allow you to install it in your North American Elantra-N. it's just a couple of plastic pieces. Coudn't have cost Hyundai more than 1-2 dollars in parts, but they left it out? Why? The reason can't be weight since the parts are only a few ounces and they're in other regions of this same car. Rear passengers cann't have direct cooling because? Money? I've giving this car 3-stars only because it hasn't broken down on me YET! I get the vibes that's it's waiting for the worst possible time. Hyundai needs to focus on build quality and the "fit and finish" of it's cars. The loaner car that the insurance company rented for me while I was waiting for my settlment was a 2025 Nissan Versa. North America's cheapest new car these days. Never made a single rattle, squeek or underiable or unexpected noise. Everything felt solid. Real solid. Yeah, it was SUPER slow and the CVT was junk, but if Nissan can get the interior of their cheapest car to feel more "premium" than Hyundai can with a nearly $40K vehicle, then Hyundai is just cutting corners.

Great handling. Octane learning is a joke. Poor build quality

I am really mixed on this car. I have had a few issues and the biggest is octane learning... That is, without a doubt, the biggest gripe I have with this car. The handling is amazing and when the car does OL it has all the power I could ask for. But the constant resetting of the "N" mode buttons and OL being such an issue I just can't recommend this car to anyone. I truly regret not getting another Golf GTI... Oh and the horn died on me the other day as well as the lower skid plate coming apart on the highway. Just more reason I wish I bought the VW.

I like the car, but several issues

First off I do like the vehicle. I have had several issues before its first oil change and the dealer I purchased it from has literally the worst service department I’ve ever experienced. One of the confusing parts of this who situation is the dealer told me that maintenance was covered for the first 5 years. I purchase the vehicle and change oil light message comes on at 5k miles. Call the dealer to be told that I have to wait until 7500 miles for it to be paid for, and that I get one free oil change. Doesn’t make sense to wait to change the oil when the car is yelling at me everyday that it’s overdue. Not a big fan of Hyundai and especially the dealer.

Great with some flaws

Bumper clips are weak and come loose or off in high speeds and dealers won’t warranty it. Octane learning is very annoying and there’s no indication of being learned.
