Still pleasing us after four years

We bought our dealer-used Elantra with over 20k miles on it. After driving several competitors we felt it was a cut above the rest in comfort and value. Our biggest complaint has been extremely disappointing fuel mileage. The only time we see more than mid-20s MPG is when driving strictly freeway. The best level-road, warm-weather, 75mph MPG we've ever seen was 37. That was with approximately 35k miles on it. Yesterday in similar conditions we saw maybe 31mpg. We have taken several long road trips and loved driving it. All said, the car is everything we need, and when we rented a new Sonata for a 1,500 mile road trip recently we decided we like the Elantra better in many respects, especially ergonomically. The other negative is several warranty issues and recalls.

It's a good first car!

It is a good car on gas but pick up time is slow. Its a low car so big bumps is felt. My car had unique features. I don't like that it fogs easily. Easy to control with driving. Before Jiffy lube DESTROYED it, it was reliable.

Good Transportation

Our Elantra has been a good car for local transportation. For me it is not comfortable for a day long drive and has not gotten the fuel efficiency that was advertised but overall 32 mpg is not too bad.

Elantra Limited

Summary: worse than expected mileage, about 22 mpg combined. Better than expected handling characteristics. For a front wheel drive, live rear axle setup, it us very nimble, much more than my Camry XLE. Terrible radio. I have replaced it three times at a cost of 1300 each time for the part alone if I had to pay. Cheap.leather seats, veey poor quality. Limited upgrade is worth rhe money, especially rhe very well designed back up camera display. Insurance companies see it as as exoensive fix...not good

Good Car

Vehicle has always had good acceleration and handling. Is fun to drive and great on gas. I average about 27mpg city and 34mpg highway. The only drawback is that maintenance is frequent and not too cheap, of course it is 7 years old with 130,000mi. Some of the original parts used were not as durable as the replacement parts when repair needed, example the steering coupling. Original was rubber and tore up the replacement is a more durable plastic material. Pretty fast for a 4 cylinder. It is a great daily driver for sure. Just be prepared to maintenance it. I would recommend this vehicle as it is dependable and fuel efficient without the loss of power.

Hyundai Elantra

I've had my 2011 Elantra since Jan 2012. I purchased with 6K miles on it. I purchased the Elantra because Consumer Reports gave this vehicle the Best Vehicle of the Year rating for 2011 and, also had the best Mileage rating (up to 40 MPG). I had a very long commute to work and was spending a lot of $$$ on gas for my 2001 Camry. I hoped I could save $$$ with the Elantra. I have been very disappointed in the mileage. I'm lucky if I can get 32 combined. But, overall, the performance of the vehicle, the appearance and everything else in the vehicle, I like.(love the heated front and REAR seats) I have 101,727 miles and plan to keep it as long as possible like I did with my Camry (210+K miles) When I do replace this Elantra I will be looking into a SUV because of serious back issues and bending to get in/out of a sedan or coupe is not practical. and, I definately will shop att First Hyundai because of the new warranty deals they have.

It’s Ok

Starting to age but still runs good. Fuel economy is good as well even though it’s good for highway but not really for traffic or city driving. I think I like the new Elantra features I was loned for free while my car was in the shop.

Love my 2011 Elantra!!

The car recently turned over 120,000 miles. The ride is still comfortable, Gas mileage is still acceptable. I've only had 2 issues with the car, it didn't come with a spare tire kit and the floormats wore out too early.

Overall a great car

I love everything about my elantra, this is the second one I've had. The 1st one I had 10+ years. The warranty is fabulous. My only 'complaint' is, it's not great in snow. I can still see myself keeping this a long time, once again.

Hyundai Elantra

I have always driven SUV’s. I inherited the Elantra a few months ago. The car is very sporty. It gets 22-26 m/g. It drives very well. Even though it is small, it was designed well giving plenty of room for passengers. My absolute favorite thing about the car is the warranty. It is very inclusive. The service center really went out of their way to help me!

nice small car

The Elantra is a nice driving small car however I like the Sonata better it's more room here and gets better gas mileage which is very unfortunate. i own 2 sonatas and really like both of them. The Eantra is comparable in quality and comfort.

nice ride

This vehicle was the first vehicle my wife and I bought here in Saint Louis. The Suntrup location in Wentzville was excellent in helping us get the car we needed and fit our budget. My wife has never owned a car that is this old before in her life having always been in leases, but she never wanted to let this one go. It had a nice ride, great on mileage, great accessories, and was very quiet when on the highway. Several trips back and forth to Florida....Loved It!!!

140,000 miles and going!

Now that I wrote that my car has 140,000 miles and still goin, it will probably crap out on me , but damn my little car and I have had quite a ride. Zippy and maneuverable, only issue being the yaw. Hit a bump while on a curve and the back end will jump and slide out. You can look at it as either a “this is fun “ moment or “omg I am going to die” moment. Apparently they have fixed this issue but on the 2011 it’s still prevalent. I still have the car and am not dead ,so it’s fun. The mileage was an issue after I purchased. Was supposed to be getting 41 mpg and turns out they lied and am only getting 31 mpg. Still a lot of fun to put in $20 worth of gas and be able to drive for a week no problem. Sound system is great! Moon roof is great! Lots of space! Trunk is HUGE! Still looks relevant and not outdated and gets me where I need to go safe and sound. Love my little Elantra.

2011 and still driving like its 2011

I am glad i purchased my Elantra as my first car. It may be 7 years old almost 8, but runs like its new. Dislike that it did not have a spare tire. Had to buy my own rim and extra tire. Gps surprisingly never failed.

2011 Hyundai Elantra - what a great car!!

I have over 120K miles on my 2011 Hyundai Elantra and have never had any trouble. It is a comfortable car with heated leather seats and a sunroof - those were the three things I simply HAD to have in a car .....plus good gas mileage. Lucky me found it all in the Elantra. I've been on numerous road trips and have always been very happy with the way this car handles the road - especially in the mountains. I've driven through some pretty serious rain storms in the mountains and felt safe. Honesty is the best policy - so I have to say, the headlights are not very bright and the stereo system is not the best.

Great Car!

Bought my 2011 Elantra at the end of 2010-apparently the first one sold in Southern California. I'd seen it at the LA Auto show and liked it immediately. Having the earlier style/model of the Elantra, this car was a nice upgrade from that in that the new body style really looked great and the interior, although upgraded, still offered plenty of legroom and headroom. Because the car was so new to the market, it did suffer a software issue within the first few months that required it stay at the dealership for a couple weeks while folks could come out from N. Korea to look at it and fix the bug. I'm happy my car enabled them to address an issue in future models. Hyundai helped me at that time by allowing me to for forgo that month's car payment which really spoke volumes to me. My car is still running great and I've experienced no other major issues other than routine maintenance at scheduled intervals and the replacement of a couple things that obviously need to be done for a car this age. Great value for a great car. And, I'll probably replace this car with another Hyundai. The ONLY drawback is the MPG was not as stated when we bought these cars and we're still waiting for Hyundai to make us whole and offer something above $300...

Car Of The Year

I was very excited about purchasing this vehicle and had a lot of extras installed.I am currently still driving this vehicle.There were a couple of flaws that has been rectified.I enjoy driving this car and try to maintain the maintenance on it.It is a very stylish car and attractive to look at.

Love it, except

I love everything about my car expect the sqweeky brakes. I bought it 3 years ago and I noticed sqweeky brakes a week or so after I bought it. Since then, I’ve had them look at the brakes multiple times. They’ve been replaced 3 times, cleaned, and I’ve been told there’s nothing wrong with them multiple times. The sqweek can be annoying. Other than that. It’s been great for me. I haven’t had a lot of issues. I love my car.
