Small but mighty
I transitioned from owning 3 Sonatas to the Elantra LImited, mostly in an effort to gain fuel efficiency due to high gas prices at the time (2013). Immediately at the test drive, I was impressed at the spaciousness of the Elantra's interior, its great drive handling and maneuverability, and great features and appearance. I was also thrilled with the prospect of getting more miles for my fuel dollars spent, which was noticeable immediately! As I have put on more miles on the car, the mileage has improved, although after nearly 16,000 miles has still not reached the car's new-car window sticker promise of the high 20s. The new-car price for the realiability of the Hyundai warranty that came with this car made the purchase a must-have.
Now, after owning and being the primary drive of the car for 3 years, I have discovered that the rigid frame structure and high-profile wheel rims/tires with which the car came equipped were not as comfort-friendly as I would like. I even test drove a 2017 Elantra in hopes that improvements would have been made in these specific areas, which they were. I would have purchased the 2017 model had I not been offered what we considered to be a horribly low-ball trade-in offer for my 2013 Elantra with only 13,000 miles. It was suggested to me by my local tire company specialist that a good solution to soften the ride would be to try larger rims and tires with a higher profile, which I did, and it has made all the difference in improving the formerly stiff ride with the Hyundai stock wheels and tires.
I will definitely purchase another Elantra, and am so appreciative that Hyundai takes the time to ask for, actually listen to, and make improvements that result suggestions from Hyundai owners. We have purchased 9 cars from the same Hyundai dealership -- 7 of them new Hyundais -- and appreciate the quality and warranty.
