Elantra

The Elantra vehicle has a look of sleekness from the outside and inside is luxurious. The engine does need some work as I live on a hill it’s hard to catch up to a 45 mph street from the bottom to the top. But in conclusion it’s practical and affordable.

'17 Elantra

I do like the car but there isn't much head room in the cabin. I actually miss my '08. It was a better vehicle in my opinion, except for the door handles which were constantly giving me issues. It had less technology but was it ran perfect past 100,000 miles.

No power!

This vehicle has absolutely NO power! Miles per gallon are ridiculous...just sucks up gas! Must turn off air conditioner when attempting to merging onto any highway. Tires need improvement. I'm averaging 25mpg...if I'm lucky!

Great little vehicle wont let you down

Finaced this car around 23k about a year ago, so far about 16k miles on it. No weird sounds, no leaks, no suspension problems. It has taken a beating from me. Gone over 100m an hour no problem, Iam a daily commuter around 40 miles a day. Make sure to get extended service maint plan if offered, saves lots of money on oil changes an headaches. Downsides have to pay sub to unlock or turn car on/ff using app. Rear sensors turn on around 20m an hour with the exception of going in reverse. Also note i have the limited version not sure about the other trims. Great for teens an adults, no regrets buying this little car.

Average car

Car is average. It's a decent looking car, but it is not great accelerating on hills - whines. We are having issues with the brakes and the dealership mechanics can't seem to figure out what is wrong. They never hear the noise we hear. They tighten something but the noise comes back. Frustrating.

Mfg warranty

I am very disappointed that I’ve had to take this car in twice for repairs because the warranty company does not want to fix that outlet one time I’m not sure whether I am confident to purchase another vehicle

.Elantra a good buy if you do not demand luxury features

Excellent gas economy. Handles nicely. Hate the floor mats. Cheap material and impossible to keep clean. Families with children will have even more trouble than I do. Dash attracts dust and hard to clean. Elantra is affordable, but not the quality of my Solara that it replaced. I will be glad of heated seat come winter and I love the blind spot detectors, so my compromise was a good choice.

Fun car

Fun car to drive. It gets great gas mileage but with only 17,000 miles the transmission is starting to slip once in awhile. Was purchased used. It does not have navigation which would of been a plus. Wish it would of come with cd player.

The technology is irritating/gas mileage is great!

I get great gas mileage which was the main reason I chose this vehicle. It is annoying that I have to plug my phone directly into the car and download an app for most of the technological questions. It became much more hassle than convenience so I ended up removing the app and simply using my phone for GPS and other functions.

Elantra/Disappointment

I am disappointed in the overall quality. I've had a number of issues ever since I bought the vehicle brand new. I would not buy another one. Vandergriff in Arlington was where I purchased it. I was very disappointed in the way they do business. Manipulation!!!!!!!!!!!

2017 Hyundai Elantra SE

The interior of the car is larger than my 2010 Elantra SE, however it does not have some of the standard features I have on my 2010. I had fog lights and tinted windows however on this car I do not and was told that Hyundai re vamped the SE .

2017 Hyundai Elantra Windows hard to clean

Good design..cheaply made with body panels not aligned..carpets and upholstery not the best quality and put together cheap like..Windows hard to clean good..seem to have permanent haze to them..paint is not durable. Steering doesnt seem to have dampners either end. No Cushion.

Collision

I am amazed at the amount of damage that was done to my 2017 élan truck when I rear-ended a truck at about 5 miles an hour. There was significant damage totaling over $6000 and it’s taking three weeks to repair. This gravely makes me question the safety of a Hyundai, even though this is my third one that I’ve owned and have Loved up to this point. To see the kind of damage that was created rear ending another vehicle at 5 miles an hour has certainly put doubts in my mind for the future

Standard shift

I purchased a standard shift vehicle because I prefer driving stick shifts. The newer model standard shift vehicles are not as smooth as the older models. Whenever I do decide to exchange my vehicle for another I will only get an automatic regardless of the make.

2017 Hyundai Elantra SE

I blame myself for not doing more research before purchasing the 2017 Elantra. I had a 2010 Hyundai Elantra and assumed it would have some of the same features, tinted windows and fog lights. I did not realize you changed the SE so much. My battery died in less than 2 years.

I'm a pretty big guy so getting into and out of a car can be a problem. With the Elantra I frequently bump my head getting in. It could use better shocks and or suspension --- tends to not handle bumpy roads as well as I would like. Last comment: it's noisy inside while moving making it difficult to have a conversation.

Interior peeling

Interior doors on the driver and passenger side in my 2017 elentra limited is peeling from unknown reason. I have grey interior and it’s peeling off and showing black. Maybe due to cheap material but overall a good economic car.

A pretty good car

Overall I liked the ‘14 GT better. The design on this car is a little clunky. The heating system isn’t quite as good; defrost takes a while even when I let it run. Grateful to have heated seats. Display sometimes goes to clock unexpectedly.

its' ugly

The new Elantra is ugly but with a cool HUD. I'm not happy with the feeling of the engine through the pedal. It's more like pulling the lever on a slot machine than pushing the pedal of an engine. On the 2015 Elantra, one could feel the vibration of the engine through the pedal, when it autoshifts, and the natural resistance, even the change in drive when the tank is full. You can't feel any of that in this one.

Great vehicle in the past

The Elantra has a history of being a great car at a reasonable price and is why I purchased one. However, I think I got stuck with a lemon. At lest than 2 years the paint on the roof started flaking off. At 2/12 years a new battery was needed at a cost of $200. The number 1 cylinder was misfiring another $250. What comes next I don't know. What I do know is I will purchase Toyota next time.
