Service is great, car is horrible

The car isn’t safe. Brake system goes off for no reason. Love the service center, but not Hyundai. Thought I did until this car. Always wanted a Hyundai Elantra until I actually got the car and the brake system has failed me and gave me whiplash

2 transmissions and no one cared Any other product after a month would have been returned This car for the 1st month with the transmission failing no one cared and the dealer charged me for a loaner car

Hyundai recall - not honored

2020 Hyundai Elantra multiple issues due to recall. Extremely unhappy with Hyundai's corporate office and how they are handling my recall. My car has to go through a series of 4/5 visits and they get to decided if the noise/engine ticking is at a level that they feel is acceptable. A new car should not have the issues I have encountered. It is not ok for my car to burn through oil, it is not ok for my car to have it check engine light on, and it is not ok for my car to idle at a loud rate.

Oil change due to check engine light being on.

Had to pay for an oil change between oil changes due to check engine light being on bc of low oil. Car isn’t even 2 yrs old and doesn’t even have 17,500 miles on it. That’s why I bought a brand new car so I wouldn’t have these problems and I still have to pay even though the car is still way under warranty.

Hyundai Service Depatment

If I don't have to use the Hyundai Service Department Side I won't. I took my car in for an oil change/tire rotation/tire balance @ 7:30 am. Service Manager standing right next to me @ 7:37am with 3 open bays to my right and open bays to my left, I told service manager I would be back. I was Helping a buddy and was pre-occupied helping him until it dawned on me it was getting late, however no phone call from Hyundai service department at all, I eventually asked my buddy to take me back to Hyundai arrived back at 12:20pm and waited 10 minutes for service agent to get to me. Service agent said my car was lost in the shuffle after I left and been gone for 5 hours, really, although I was next up @ 7:37 am in the morning. Waited another (hour) to get my car serviced for an oil change/tire rotation/ tire balance. No apology or explanation from the manager. From the guy who was standing right next to me @ 7:37 am and even had the audacity to (still charge) me for the tire balance that's not included with the standard (basic) 7,500-mile service (EVEN) though my car got lost in the shuffle for (5) hours. WoW. What a pathetic situation and this is just a portion as there is much more that would take another three paragraphs to describe how pissed off the service manager made me and the lack of concern and empathy this guy had. I had to keep my cool to get home to our 17-year-old Chihuahua Jack Russell mix because she was dying, and anytime I would spend more time away from her than I thought was necessary I would get an anxiety attack so I had to stay even keeled so I wouldn't get in trouble and cause further delay...long story short. Bad chip or sensor

Completely disappointed with vehicle and the service the absolute worst. Hyundai can't or won't fix the problem. At low speeds (in parking lots or stop and go traffic) the engine will pause and then lurch ahead.The problem is interrmittant making the vehicle completely undependable. 4 visits to get it repaired with no results 1 additional by a corporate technician still not fixed. When contacted by ABC News in Los Angeles the Corporate Representative stated that the vehicle meets Hyundai specs.

Not a big fan

The vehicle is ok but I think there are other vehicles out there that I would of preferred. The features are great but the performance and drive ability are failing on my list of expectations. Was good in the beginning.

My Last Hyundai

I loved my first Elantra. But I was convinced by my local dealership to trade it in before the lease was over because they’d get me in the same car, two years newer, and for less money. Then the new Elantra needed a new transmission within 6 months. And when it broke down, Hyundai absolved themselves of any responsibility - they covered the repairs (which they had to under warranty) but stranded me in another state and tried to low-ball me on reimbursement. An absolute failure of customer relations - they saved a few hundred dollars but lost a customer. This will absolutely be my last Hyundai.

Beware of problems getting service and warranty support

You’ll get lots of pressure to “give a good rating” after purchase. Today, my car lost its engine oil after Hyundai mechanic failed to tighten drain plug, possibly resulting in engine damage. BEWARE!

Dissapointed in the ride quality and difficult get in and out of the car

This is my third Hyundai. I have had two Tuscon's and now the Elantra. The Tuscon's were too tall and I had trouble getting in and out. The design of the Elantra makes it difficult to enter and exit the front compartment. The noise level of the the 2019 and 2020 Hyundai's are worse then any previous models. The 17 inch tires are horrible for noise and bumpy ride. The seats are also uncomfortable also.

This vehicle is almost the same as my old Toyota. The ride is the same. This vehicle seems move just a little faster than old vehicle. Do not like the fact that the radio plays lower when you put it in reverse.

I like the car, but hate the smell. The dealership said it is "New Car Smell" but I have owned many new cars - they never smelled this bad. Car is my sons (17) but I am going to see about getting smell removed

So the car is great on gas, not a lot of bells or whistle. The only concern I have is my trunk keeps magically popping up without anyone pushing the button. This concerns me because I can’t leave anything in my car. I wonder if this may be a manufacture issue....

I will not buy another Elantra. The car has too many creaks and rattles. It has too much road noise, especially on the freeway. I'm sorry that I have to drive this for three more years. I will try to get back into a Santa Fe in 2023.

It’s cheaply made looks nice outside but cheap inside for the cost other items should come with it or even offered not just sell a car ask people what they want and look for don’t say you can bring it back in a year and get what you really want i should get some better services. Great car...but

Overall I really liked my car. Definitely spending less on gas with the great gas mileage I’m getting. I drive from the peninsula to the southside in Virginia 5 to 4 days a week. The only few issues I have with the car are one of the air-conditioning automatically turns on when you use the app to warm up your car. I have yet to find the option to turn off the AC when using the app to prestart the car to warm it up. As when it’s winter time and you’re trying to warm up your vehicle the first thing you want to feel when you get in is not cold air. The automatic braking system has worked pretty well by warning me when something is close in front of vehicle such as another car. It has on occasion stopped the vehicle for me at least once but this hasn’t occurred every single time. The primary issue I had with the vehicle overall was the fact that less than 30 days after I got the car the transmission failed and had to be fully replaced. I don’t hold this against Hyundai as it could just have been a one off situation with a specific car but as a result I can’t give it five stars just because I don’t know how much of an issue this is for other vehicles. It is a brand new car so sometimes these issues begin to show up as people drive them.
