2009 Genisis

Broken valve at 92,000 miles froze the engine. Two used engines and a month later I had my car back. Recently the catalytic converter went bad and now if I leave my car sitting for more than two days it won't start. It's become a mystery issue but it's an ongoing problem.

Major repairs!!!

My Genesis has had a new steering system ( one week in the shop. ) Then the heating and cooling system broke. (2 weeks in the shop). The last time for the heads to be replaced in the engine. Totally cool service and my extended warranty covered these repairs. Just a lemon I guess

Great car, bad engine.

I have had my 2009 4.6L for 2 years, for it with 80,000 miles on it. Once it rolled to 100,000 the engine blew a rod. Had the engine replaced. At 150,000 the rod blew again. The car has great space for kids, and has great luxury options. The car has great horse power, with an awesome transmission. I love the car, not the engine. I did drive the 2017 for 5,000 miles and I love it as well, just do not trust the engine.

Radio went out!!

To replace radio $7000!! I wanted to keep it original but way too expensive!! The issue started 3 months ago It finally went out n no good fixes Never expected to have this issue Stereo made by Harman JBL!!

Originally enthusiastic owner

I waited 17 yrs to buy a new car and I knew the Genesis was it. For about 6-7 yrs I absolutely loved it until the engine went out. If it were not for the Southern States service leaders I would have been hold a bag of (you know what). It was in and out of the shop for over a year. I am still experiencing issues with only 75k miles and less than 10k on new engine. Just serviced for dome light issue to find out they can't replace bulbs and over $300 for each unit. Been a very expensive investment. I have to think very hard if I would stay with Hyundai. I reached out to Executive leadership of the Corporation only to get cold shoulder. Not impressed with their commitment to customer service. I am sure that have a "well you win some and lose some attitude" Well they likely have lost this one. I'm committed to Southern States as long as I own the Genesis.

I love my car but a lot of cosmetic issue after two years. The door handles alarms were the first to go. Way too much to fix. Car still runs well but paint chipped and really bad after a few years

Its has too many glitches Radio freezes, which means I cant turn it off, turn it up or down, the CD player is some timing ?. .you're supposed to be able to just push the button on the door handle to unlock the door..doesnt work all the time either

It's a great car, but I have been experience way to many repairs, I do have 109,000 miles I have spent from last summer repairs and the current repairs Approximately $ 7000.00

rear camera has been terrible, having my third one put in

Auto companies should have recipication between other mechanical sources. I am over 70 miles from my present home. at purchase time I had two dealers within 10 miles. They are making me pay 1/2 the cost of this the third camera because I am not going to dealership.

2009 Genesis

Even though my 2009 Genesis is ten years old I still receive compliments on how nice it looks. The problem it gives me is how poorly it handles on the highway during the winter months. I have winter tires put on and sandbags in the trunk. Last Saturday, during a light snowfall, I had to turn around and go back home because it handled so poorly on the highway. When asked about my car I always tell people I love the car, but I caution them on how it performs on the road during winter driving.

Nice handing and good power but very bumpy like a bumper cart

Super exciting to drive on express way without any pot holes or bumps. Nice handing and good power but very bumpy like a bumper cart. Interior is very nice, power is very good, very good acceleration. But ride is very hard/bumpy on roads with pot holes or bumps. Riders felt being thrown UP and down on bumpy roads as if the car does not have any shock absorber at all !!!

Used for highway only

Glove box permanently damaged during repair for cabin air filter. Backup camera not repaired under warranty. Several interior and exterior lights burned out after warranty. Had to replace alternator at 76k miles.

Great Car!

I love my Genesis, just not the recall issues. But what do you expect from the first model right? Even Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes have recalls. Looks great, drives great, and packs a decent amount of power.Plus I have wings instead of the H so people are always surprised that they just rode in a Hyundai.

My rating of this car

The Genesis is a wonderful car and driving experience. This particular vehicle "2009 car of the year" I believe? is not quite and I have not seen one other Genesis on the road since my purchase 1 1/4 yrs ago? The trunk upon opening, when it rains is terrible with the drippings into trunk and actually ruined CD's that were there! The viewing from side windows and rear are horrible, not at all clear and makes me a bit anxious when backing up. The side mirror and the separation bar create a problem when going off exit and then turning left and I have to lean forward or back. I cannot judge the front end as well as my previous Volvo, so easy to navigate! OK, so I am enjoying this vehicle & suppose I should feel unique with possibly being the only one on the highway?!?

Seven years of ownership

This vehicle has amazing looks but falls short in early equipment failure. At the 5 year and less than 65K miles point, the sunroof had a major failure of the rail assembly and supporting parts, it would appear the parts are pre-maturily failing due to their plastic content. one of the steering rod ends failed at less than 50K miles and 65 months of ownership. The ride quality is worst than a Honda Accord, plus it has become noisy and feels like it has many more miles than any luxury vehicle that I have owned, and I have owned several new Cadillacs and European Luxury vehicles. Though, I purchased this car for my wife to drive as a cheaper atternative. I am questioning myself if I would buy another. This car has never been abused! It was meticously maintained. I think the long term value falls short. (Note) this is not the base Genesis. It is now starting to demonstrate intermittent electronic system problems....

Genesis 2009

The genesis is a great luxury alternative to the big German and Japanese brands. The quality and handling are great. I have owned the car for almost 4 years and she has never let me down once. Power is good for the v6 however sometimes I wish it had a little more. On a side note, extra accessories are limited though for the brand and sometimes parts are hard to locate too.

Love everything about my car except the rims.

After a little over a year the original rims started peeling and having big black spots all over. Still under warranty, Hyundai motors had them resurfaced and once again they looked beautiful. a year or so later the same problem occurred. this time no warranty, so I actually had them replaced. To have rim problems like this on a 40 plus thousand dollar car is very disappointing. Other than that the Genesis has served me very well. I still love it, now that I have new rims.
