2012 Genesis

Car was nice at first. until we had multiple issues with electrical...windows would not work one day then the radio the next...then they'd start working for months then do it again. I reached back to move the headrest 2 months ago and it snapped apart like cheap plastic. The dealer said yes bring it in it's still under warranty. so we did and they did everything possible to say we were in an accident and it was in fact not covered. The car was never in any sort of accident whatsoever. They found a small scuff on the front bumper and used that as the stopper on the warranty say that was the accident that set the head rest off. The scuff didn't even chip the paint! UFB!!! The stereo is junk. The warranty they sold me is worthless! Worst car I have ever owned by miles!!!

Genesis Brakes

Had to replace brakes at 21,131 miles, customer paid total cost. Genesis/Hyundai could care less, Will not but another Hyundai product and will relate my experience to friends and family. Brake should not have to replaced after 21,131 miles.

SUCKS!!!

This vehicle is always having electrical issues that can never be repaired. The automatic rain detector wipes suck and either don’t come on when they should or they go crazy fast. The cruise control is very jerky and speeds up when approaching a car and then it hits its brakes. Also the Bluetooth system will not connect to any phone in order to lessen to music off your phone. My sons car that doesn’t cost half as much as this POS does more than this car does and it works great. Furthermore, the resales value on this car is the worst of any other car I have ever owned.

Throttle issue

The car likes do accelerate by itself from time to time. It is pretty scary when it does it. It also had a issue with it just shutting while you’re driving. Hyundai and the dealership have done a horrible job of taking care of the issue and now that it is out of warranty now one cares. I will never buy another Hyundai ever again.

Quality

Although I enjoy the car, too many items need to be replaced. I have had to replace the master lock mechanism, the master window mechanism, and need to fix the drivers side mirror motor. All these items are very expensive and should not have broken. In addition, I am noticing the backup camera not always working. When I compare this to my lexus, I am disappointed in the overall quality of the car.

Not what we expected

We purchased the vehicle brand new in 2011 after test driving other comparable cars. I was not completely sold on Hyundai after the track record they had years ago. Once we test drove the car we were blown away at the features and the cost of the vehicle. Still not sold on the car we ended up leasing the car for 3 years and not having one problem with the car other than regular service and a new battery we decided to keep the vehicle. The car had 60,000 miles and only serviced at the dealership along with all recommend service intervals. Now the car has 100,000 the battery died so we ended up having a new battery placed in the car, once we started the vehicle the check engine light came on and the idle was extremely rough! So we had it towed to the local dealer and after a weeek long diagnosis they came up with the vehicle needed the coils replaced and injectors. $1700.00 later the vehicle is now fixed. One other issue we have had was filling the gas tank you can’t fill it up because the nosel keeps clicking off we have taken to dealer multiple times which they have replaced the filter and the gas nosel assembly of courses at the time under warranty. Nothing has worked to fix the problem we still can’t fill the tank! The radio was having Bluetooth connection issues and static in the sound so they replaced the main unit at 25,000 miles now at 100000 the radio does not connect at all. After all of these issues we have had I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a car to last! They look amazing on the outside and the inside is luxurious but the problems that we have face makes me wish we would have him with a more reliable car. We take car of all of our vehicles to the highest level people look at this car and tell us that it looks like it could sit on the show room floor

Braking Issue

With only 57,000 miles on my 2012 Genesis it suffered a loss of braking. The dealer could find nothing wrong with the brakes. I have lost confidence in the vehicle after the braking incident and have opened a case with NHTSA and Hyundai US.

Unreliable. $10k in repairs under 100k miles

Bought Certifed 2013 Genesis 3.8 Premium Tech package in 2013 with 17k miles. Cruise Control malfunctioned because laser radar censor was broken and not covered under warranty... it was CERTIFIED with 17k miles and they wanted $3800 for it after I drove it off the lot!!! Then another $4000 replacing the HECU at 75k miles right after I almost drove the car through the house because the brakes went out (HECU). Fought the warranty company on that one. And $1800 for a new fuel tank that had a HOLE in it at 100k miles... a hole with no external impact, just defective and the dealer did not offer any kind of relief being just outside of warranty. The car has shut off many times on its own causing safety issues and the dealer can’t figure it out. Tons of electrical problems. I will never buy a Hyundai again

2016 Hyundai Genesis

Not as good a car as the 2012 Genesis. Interior headroom is so poor that at even 5 feet 4 inches, I bump my head entering the front seat. Also, the front visor won't even clear my face when adjusting it. Very poor interior design. My former Elantra had much more interior room and head clearance than the 2016 Genesis. A total redesign of the interior is required.

2012 Genesis 3.8

Overall a nice car but we went on a cross country trip last summer. The seats are not very comfortable for long drives (I was told to have upgraded seats you need to buy a R Spec) and why is there only the drivers seat cooled. I have the tech package and like the laser cruise control. The entire entertainment/GPS is not very good. When I complained at the dealer about this I was told the newer years are better.

Love this car. But this car has bad paint jobs on the front and back bumbers. The car is only five years old and the paint sealant is already coming off. Never had any car with this issue before.

Not completely satisified.

Just had the fourth battery installed in the car. This along with other various issues are the reason for the low reliability score. There have been times when I have been apprehensive about driving it because I thought it may not start when I was ready to go home.

Genesis

No emergency brake light comes on when emergency brake is on. Nothing tells you so you drive with it on and create problems with car. Front passenger seat height does not adjust. Seat is too low unless you're 6 ft tall.

Not overall happy with my car. when received had to have a lot of repainting. complained of radio problems never fixed properly still malfunctions. Seats not lasting even with extra care. suspension getting sloppy after 5 years. water on trunk lid falls into trunk when opened.
