2025 Ioniq 5 N - best car on sale right now

What a car. I've been waiting to make the jump from ICE to EV, but I was waiting for a fun to drive wagon/hot hatch. I've been a BMW driver for 20 years and never imagined myself in a Hyundai, but here we are. I don't think any car company is trying harder than Kia/Hyundai right now (and I say that working for a competitor car company personally). the 5N does everything well. It's a family car. It's a track car. It will comfortably transport my kiddo in a car seat quietly to daycare, and I can swap to the simulated transmission and shift gears on my way to work. Stellar, all around driving enthusiast EV hot hatch.

A racer's best friend.

This car is made for racing and is track-worthy. Worth every penny. I hope you can drive this at least once in your life. Every detail is crafted to keep the vehicle focused for maximum speed. There are some items that are missing compared to the traditional Ioniq 5, but that is to keep the body focused and lightweight.

An EV for car enthusiasts

I saw a rare phenomenon of car reviews on the Ioniq 5 N where every one I saw driving it was smiling or laughing with joy. That's what caused me to go see it for myself, and I immediately brought it home. This is my first EV, because I am a car enthusiast and until now, there hasn't been an option that provides a driving experience. The Ioniq 5 N is absolutely the most fun I've had in an EV. For comparison, I also have an Audi R8. I can have almost as much fun in the Ioniq 5, and draw a lot less attention.

Yes it's really THAT GOOD

First the negatives. 1.You have to get this car from a dealership that already has it on their lot regardless of how bad that makes the experience of buying the car. 2. You can't really half sit in a bolstered seat and we know other markets got the Heads up display and glass roof options. Literally everything else is the best it could be for double the money. Best looking matte blue (Subjective but I already have a trophy to say others agree) Best performance period short of a supercar and I'm comparing to a C8 corvette. Fits as much in the back as my old Jeep Grand Cherokee and carries people more comfortably. Worth every penny!!!!

Ioniq 5 N

We have only had the car for one month but it has made quite an impression on us. Everything about it comes across as being very solid and well thought out. The fit and finish our excellent - both inside and outside of the vehicle. Even considering the suspension underneath it and the performance tires on it it is a very smooth ride plus it is quiet with a long-distance runs being no problem. The power it has is absolutely great! We’ve had some fast cars over the years but nothing like this. Your engineers did an excellent job with everything.

A blast to drive. Good for the Earth. No need to visit gas stations.

A blast to drive with the N Shift simulated paddle shifting and calibrated engine sounds. Super fun to drive and brings a grin to your face. Hyundai made driving electric fun again. The user interface of the infotainment system and vehicle settings leaves a lot to be desired. It is way over complicated and hard to navigate. But driving in N shift mode brings a smile to your face.

Near perfect!

Its an absolute blast to drive daily and around the track! I wish we had in the US the option for a sunroof, HUD and power front seats. But other than that its Perfect!

Quiet, roomy, and fast!

The loniq 5 N is the right size with enough room in the rear for a full load of groceries. It's snappy handling and powerful acceleration do not compromise the comfortable ride quality.

Pocket Rocket

Solidly built unlike my prior EV. Love the handling, acceleration, predictablity. A few quibbles. Startup asking for which driver should recognize me and my app. App and wallet key need work, frequently failing. Nested menus are confusing, especially the different drive modes. Having to purchase separate tires for temps below 40 degrees is a nuisance. Power seats and memory settings are oddly missing.

Unforgettable experience

Coming from a Veloster N that unfortunately got totaled was a weird experience. The transition from ICE to EV was different. I knew that the N line was different from all other sports cars and I couldn't give up the opportunity to purchase the newest one. I daily drive this beast and it's fun everyday I hop in the 5N.

A korean Challenger SRT8 designed by non NPC drivers

Very much a driver's car. You can set it up however you want. Want to get nostalgia of having an ICE set it to growl and have it mimic an 8 speed sequential transmission, want to sneak out of the house or not wake the neighbors? set the engine noise to zero. In track mode you can set it to FWD or RWD. The steering wheel is heavy and direct and all the inputs, throttle, break, paddle shifts etc feel like someone actually tried this beast out before releasing it to production. The low center of mass from the battery pack and sticky perrelis the 5 came with make it feel very glued to the ground and the oversized brakes can stop this thing as fast as the motors can get it going. Lastly since it is essentially a bloated hatchback and the seats fold down it is actually pretty useful for camping, hauling boxes or doing other adulting tasks.
