Charging is a very big problem. And your dealership misled me.

The charging cord is terrible. It takes more than 72 hours to charge. And the charging inlet is on the wrong side of the car to use most Tesla charging stations. And your dealership lied to me about getting a free charger so now I need to buy one. This is a big consumer protection issue and your corporate folks were unwilling to fix it for me by fulfilling the verbal promise of a free level 2 charger. Also— when I tried to use a Tesla supercharger the car wouldn’t accept it— I felt stranded. You need to fix this charging issue.

I received a battery warning light. Took it in and they said the battery needs replaced. The big battery! It'd been at the dealer for two weeks now.

Not a good car if you need to drive often

The range is beyond horrible. You can use this car for one day of errands then it needs to charge for 6 days if you have a level 1 charger, 3 days with a level 2, you can’t get a level 3 in a house. The salespeople are NOT TRUTHFUL about the range or charge time requirements. It’s a beautiful car, very comfortable, if it were a gas car, it would be one of the best cars I’d had. But it’s not gas and EV’s are all HYPE. This car is NOT practical, it’s in no way whatsoever a smart choice if you drive a lot, I could t imagine having to drive across the state or even the country. I’m very dissatisfied and would not recommend this vehicle to anyone that drives more than 20 miles a day for more than 3 days in a row

Not what I expected

2 pop noises when shut off the vehicle, clunky noises in brake system, alignment 2 times since first bought the vehicle. The vehicle now has 4800 miles and all of that happened already. The seat are not comfy.

Poorly designed $400.00 charge credit program

I bought an Ioniq 5 back on 5/10/2025 and it came with a $400.00 charge credit, which I found out on my own the hard way, that I can only use at the Puente Hills Hyundai dealership where I bought it as per my attempts at ChargePoint locations by my house and a call to ChargePoint. Most of the times when I go to the dealership (15 miles roundtrip), there is already a vehicle on charge at the one charging station I can use. I loaded my credit card information in the ChargePoint app because I'm desperate for a charge, but it still won't charge because the remaining balance of the credit, $151.38, must be used first. I am super frustrated... This is 3rd Hyundai in a row, but my first electric vehicle. This will be my last Hyundai if you do not fix the problem I'm having with your poorly designed $400.00 charge credit on my brand new Ioniq 5. Please resolve ASAP...my Ioniq 5 is at 43%.

Power Failure in a Two Week Old Vehicle

Two weeks after I lease/purchased the Ioniq 5, i experienced a complete power failure on the busy 405 freeway south of L.A. and was in the dangerous position of having to drift across three lanes of heavy traffic to get to the shoulder. Two Hyundai service centers were unable to determine the cause of the failure because the computer had failed to register the event and provided no error code. I was told by the service managers at both dealerships that they had never seen this happen before - a quick google search led me to news of a recall of Ioniq 5s in December 2024 because of power failures and an earlier class action lawsuit because of power failures. All of my other experiences with this car are dwarfed by this single terrifying and potentially lethal experience. I was disappointed that Hyundai took no responsibility for this major flaw.

Check engine light that the dealership has taken >3 weeks on

If you have any issues with the car (like me with a check engine light that is taking weeks to root cause), the dealership is not likely to give you a loaner and expects you to just be without a car that you pay for.

Buyer beware

I have had the car less than 3 months. Right at 2000 miles and it died. A warning came up that the battery is overheating and car locked up. Almost rear ended. Had it towed to my dealership where they told me they can't look at it for over a week and half. Many people are having this problem or very similar issues. Hyundai claim is it's about 1 % of the Ioniqs. When it happens to you personally, It seems like it's a much higher number. Before this I loved the vehicle in every way. But that is irrelevant. To have a 55K vehicle just die on you having barely using it is completely unacceptable.

P1AD300 error after 2000 miles

After leasing this car new and driving it for two months, it generated a P1AD300 error indicating the main battery needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the repair time is six months. I am out of this car for six months after only two months of driving. Hard to give it a good review.

Home Charging Does Not Work

We were promised that the vehicle could be charged at home. It does not work. We returned the vehicle to the dealer and they were no help. They basically told us to go away and pound sand. This is a common problem that is posted to the internet by many owners. This is false advertising that the car can be charged from home. We would not have purchased the vehicle if we had known about this problem.
