Good car when it’s not in the shop for weeks

Vehicle has been in the shop for repairs twice now for battery issue that is yet to be figured out. Love the car but super frustrating to not be able to actually drive it.

Broken when I bought it

I bought the ionic 5 and I was immediately without it for 2 months. This meant I never experienced WiFi or Sirius. In addition, getting support after you buy a car is impossible. Also now that it is back the electronic key does not consistently activate the car but I don’t want to bring it in again as it might be another 2 months

It doesn't auto-lock the doors???

It astounds me that in the year 2025, an electric car can be sold without the most basic security feature: Lock the doors when you walk away. The car KNOWS that the keyfob (or in my case, my iPhone) isn't in the car. It KNOWS the car is off. Why do the handles continue to stick out like little flags indicating that everything inside is free for the taking?

Pretty good car, bad app

The car itself is great. Handles well, fairly comfortable, although not as much as my other older car. I hate that the app requires me to share my precise geolocation, personal biometric data, and other data including my email address, social security number (!), address, and other identifiers at all times in order to be able to use basic features. This is a major privacy violation. What is Hyundai going to do when they inevitably get hacked and all my personal information ends up being sold to scammers and criminals? I can't even log in without accepting this privacy encroachment, which I really do not want to do, and this eliminates a lot of the car's features, such as remote start. Really bad decision by Hyundai that actively detracts from the experience of having the car.

Great car, bad service and reliability

Our Ioniq 5 is a great car, but a critical battery error at 3500 miles makes me question long term reliability. Dealership response on fix is nonexistent and has to be escalated to Hyundai corporate.

Redesign the ICCU now

Hyundai comes so close but can't get it over the finish line. Your ICCU defect has a four year history and there is still no indication you intend to redesign it as you must. Leaving your customers at risk of a car failure at night, miles from nowhere with kids in tow, betrays a disregard for your customers' safety and well-being that prevents me from purchasing a Hyundai in the future. Read the owner forums at www.ioniqforum.com and elsewhere. You may be shocked at what you discover. This isn't just about the car, it's about Hyundai's reputation for integrity, and the negative effect it has on the EV industry worldwide.

Extremely Disappointing Lease Experience – 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Top Trim)

I am leasing a 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the highest trim level, fully loaded with every available feature, and the experience has been incredibly disappointing. Within the first couple of months of the lease, the vehicle required two separate tows due to repeated 12-volt battery drain. The dealership was unable to properly diagnose the issue for far too long. After multiple service visits, it was finally determined that a dealer-installed LoJack device was draining the battery—something that should have been identified immediately. Now, with only around 6,000 miles, the vehicle is back at the dealership again, this time for ICCU and fuse failure. Having major electrical and charging system issues this early into a lease is unacceptable, especially for a vehicle marketed as advanced and reliable. The technology is impressive on paper, but that doesn’t matter when the car is unreliable and repeatedly in the shop. Between multiple tows, poor diagnostics, and major component failures at such low mileage, this has been a frustrating and confidence-destroying experience. For a top-trim EV lease, I expected peace of mind—not repeated breakdowns and constant trips to the service department.

Scared the ICCU will fail, already had two 12V issues in first year

I love how the car looks and feels, and that it has physical buttons for seat heaters. However every single time I drive it I am scared the ICCU will fail and I’ll be stranded. I drive constantly looking for the safe place to pull over. I have already had two 12V battery issues within the first year, signs that the charge controller isn’t working properly. In addition, repeatedly trips the breaker on my home charger. The dealership won’t troubleshoot the issue because after the first 12V failure (at six months) I replaced it with an AGM since they are more resilient to charge level issues. The dealership said all the sensors and diagnostics rely on the characteristics of the OEM battery. So…we just wait for catastrophic failure. I never would have bought this car if I knew how unreliable it has been for so many people. The dealership had a significant backlog of people waiting over a month for the replacement ICCU to ship. It is too risky a purchase for my sense of safety and security. I made a mistake buying it.

Purchased new - delivered dirty and broken

Noticed back panel was not attached on left side. Took it in and was told I would need to pay $2500 to fix and this clearly happened when I got the car washed except the car was filthy and I never got it washed. Very poor customer service. Disappointing when you spend so much money on a new car.

Would be great if everything worked

Like the car. Can’t use Lane Keep Assist. Keeps telling me it can’t see my face. Service people have no clue how to fix it. Called Hyundai Customer Service Waiting for response. If the problem gets fixed, the car would be terrific.
