Bad experience for first EV

In just 60 days of owning the Ioniq 6, I've faced significant issues. The car required repairs three times for defects, leaving me without it for three weeks. This frustrating experience makes me regret not choosing an electric car from another brand.

1374 miles -- car died

Running fine and I loved it. The one morning, could not unlock car (FOB battery fine); using myHundai app wouldn't unlock either. Used the manual key and then the process of using FOB to push the start. Dead. AAA checked the 12 volt; it had a good charge. Main battery was 76%. Had to have it towed to local Hyundai Service in Richmond CA. Service said wait 48 hours before contacting.

hyundai after sale support sucks

AFTER I bought the 6, i wrote john desalvo at matthews. i asked mr desalvo two simple questions. he never wrote me back. but, while i was in the process of buying it, they certainly made a point about getting 10’s on their survey. how important it was… THEN I called the hyundai help desk. I was transferred because the CSR didn’t have any knowledge of the warning I was getting. The “specialist” i was transferred to said she didn’t have any knowledge either. but she would transfer me. she did and i was disconnected. it amazes me that i can spend 50,000 and get worse after sale service than i would if i called the help desk for a video game… or a garden tool… or a computer tablet. i am giving the lowest rating for the vehicle. not accurate, but hyundai hasn’t earned my opinion.

Unexplained to the Consumer from the Dealership

I paid an additional cost because it was purchased from a dealership called Rick Case in Plantation. They offered some type of incentive if you paid an extra $1,800. For example, a lifetime of car washes. The issue is you have to accept in the charges above the MSRP. The HVAC works except for one central area of the vehicle that doesn't work at all. There's an orange light on top of the dash that comes on multiple times throughout the day. In addition I've had the vehicle for nearly 4 months now and I have not received the NACS adapter, which I was told that Hyundai was going to send to me to my house. They never contacted me and they never did send me anything. Sometimes to be a good does not come on. I have to step out lock the door and then reopen the car and then start the car in order for it to come back on.

WORST Santa Clara, CA Stevens Creek Hyundai

Never ended up getting the vehicle, because even after my mistake in delving into trade-in later into the night, caused them to feel all sorts of entitled to dump all of their anger onto me without holding back. I went promptly the next afternoon right after work, and especially Mo Ibrahimi is the only one at fault of the whole interaction. Lowballing trade in so much, below all the trade in offers that where hundreds or thousands higher with the same conditions. Pleaded that if to please get a second opinion with a supervisor or anyone, and I was ridiculed by Mo with so much firmness witholding all empathy for the sake of taking advantage. Mind you that I already did credit application, approved, and finishing everything.

I gave them a zero because they don’t follow through on anything.

I like my car pretty much, but the dealership has not followed through on getting my permanent license plates. When I call, they are full of excuses. I bought my car two months ago and I still don’t have permanent plates. I regret coming to Baytown Hyundai to purchase a car.

Worst after sales service. Most irresponsible team I have ever come across. If it was possible, I would have given minus stars.

Vehicle is not bad. But the sales team from top to bottom is the worst team. Head-office team is the worst than the sales team.

Bat battery now buyback

This is a great vehicle except the battery had a bad cell. It has taken over a month to get a new one and now Hyundai wants to buy it back. I will not be able to get as good of a deal on a new one because the EV credit is gone.

Don’t by this car

Already after a year the main batteries have failed so since I have light colors I am currently unemployed and do not know how to earn money to continue paying off the car or to feed my family the track we have half with it not a little further it is just terrible.

I really wanted the n version. Or the ionic 9. When I purchased my vehicle , I was under the impression I had the top of the line version per sales person. It was the top that was onsite. So I was disappointed

Great car with unacceptable annouances

I love this car. It drives well and has good distance on a charge. My main gripe is the warnings they insist on having which interrupt me needlessly and relentlessly. There is a pleasant voice that interrupts whatever I am listening to to tell me there is a speed camera ahead and the speed limit is ——-. This happens all over the city and I never speed in the city so WTF!! It cannot be turned off I am told. And there is another warning about “consider taking a break” when I am on a long distance drive. OK, If I am getting drowsy this would be OK, but it comes on about 30 minutes into my drive and I am not interested in a break yet. This also interrupts whatever I am listening to and also cannot be turned off. I suspect the lawyers have gotten to the techs and hence no recourse other that to slip this car a get a different less annoying EV.

Designed For Short People

The ergonomics of the driver seat and steering wheel is designed for short people. I am not short and the steering wheel does not extend far enough for me to drive comfortably for long periods of time when the seat is placed where it needs to be for my legs. And the dash controls end up being too far away when I place seat where it needs to be for my legs. I have to lean forward out of my seat to reach the touch screen media console. And my arms, shoulders, and neck are strained every day I commute to work. I will not be keeping this vehicle. I may not even go to the end of my lease. It is that uncomfortable.

Really great car, build quality suffers

Love the car, the best parts are the ride comfort, range and speed. Biggest issues are that it has immediately (less than 4k miles) developed a ton of rattles and squeaks. I've been to the dealer for this issue and they found totally unrelated trim whose clips weren't secured right. Still have the squaks and rattles, drives me crazy because the cabin is so quiet. I couldn't recomend this car because of that and the dealership exerience of not finding the problems. In total this is the 3rd time in the first 3 months of ownership of the car going to the dealer. Really disappointed in the build quality.
