Generally Good

The vehicle handles well, has a solid fit and finish, and emphasizes the utility aspect of a sport utility vehicle.

Ioniq 9 - Great car, why isn't radio software the same as Palisade?

Love the car, my only real gripe is the software on the radio. In my Palisade, the navigation through media is a lot more intuitive and the radio saves the data so that I can rewind easily and not miss anything while I'm away from the car for a small amount of time. Now, I have to click Media to get into Car Play, then Media again to get out of car play and then click SiriusXM to get into my satellite radio and THEN I have to click on the bottom right to see the station that is currently playing and allows me to rewind. BUT if I leave the car off for 2 minutes, it erases the favorite station data so that it only rewinds back to when the car is turned on again. This was not the case in my Palisade that would keep the radio for an hour of memory that I could rewind to and fast forward to my liking. I really miss this feature in the Ioniq 9 and feel there are way too many button presses needed to get into the radio stations if I have a phone connected.

3 Row EV Packs a Punch

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is a very unusual 3 row EV. It has a lot going for it, with comfort, great features and a range of 398 miles when fully charged. It is really an exquisite vehicle for the price and the ride is so smooth. If you want room, if you want comfort, and if you want something different, this could be the vehicle for you. It's not perfect, but it will get there if Hyundai listens to their customers.

Comfy, luxurious, and loaded with tech, build quality questionable

Very nice place to sit. Technology is top notch hitting above its price point. Minimal road noise thanks to acoustic glass and noise cancelation. Sadly it amplifies rattles from everywhere. This is our third Hyundai in 5 years and first built in America, and our only car plagued with issues from day one. Rear seat interior panel was malformed and loose and rattling, and to be replaced. Heads up display wiring came loose causing screen to flicker and glitch, awaiting replacement. Rear lift gate valance is out of alignment causing tail light to wear paint off the body and squeak at a high pitched volume. No ETA on replacement parts. Not what we were expecting for a $76,000 car. Service has been difficult to schedule and service advisor is very condescending.

Best choice for a 3-row family SUV

Ioniq 9 is currently the best practical choice for a family SUV in the US, especially for families with more than 2 kids. The key is that the 3rd row comfortably fits an adult passengers - the legroom is not compromised.

Fantastic vehicle, almost perfect

Love everything about the Ioniq 9, only have a few items that “annoy” me about the car. Otherwise if those items were addressed would be perfect.

I love everything about this car! Except 2 things....

I have loved owning this car! It is silent, comfortable, spacious, stylish, and customizable. I absolutely love that there are interior lights that you can change the color of! I've been able to make this car mine and I can't sing my praises for it enough! The sticker milage is like 320, but on average, I get a solid 450-430 mi on it per full charge. Sometimes, it even gives me MORE miles as I drive-- I love that I barely need to worry about charging it. IT COMES WITH A CHARGER!! Which is amazing. The charger has 4 different adaptors, each will take a certain amount of time to charge the car, but that means you can charge it anywhere. I recommend buying a good charger on Amazon for $200-$300, if you get an adapter for it to fit in weird outlets like a dryer outlet, it charges MUCH more quickly (charging in a regular outlet takes like 80 hours vs 8 hours with a third party charger). Smoothest drive of my life, I've never driven a car that felt like literal BUTTER while driving-- I don't think I can go back to other cars because its HEAVENLY to drive. I get compliments on it all the time and people stop me on the street to ask me questions about it. The amount of camera POV's there are on the car is incredible. There's at least 8-10 different ways to look at the car-- EVEN a bird-eye view perspective where you can look at the car as if you are 10 feet away and up high, which is REALLY trippy. It also have the regular perspectives-- front, back, and sides! Theres a camera that turns on the side mirrors every time you use a turn signal. It helps you to see cars if they're in your blind spot. The amount of charging ports inside the car is INCREDIBLE! They're everywhere! In the places you'd expect but also on the sides of both front seats. IN THE SEAT. And the charging ability? Speed of light. It also comes with a USBC charger that charges things almost from 0-100% in minutes (like 30 minutes)! The amont of extras this car comes with is truly incredible. There's also extra storage in the front under the hood (it's minimal, but it's there!). I really thought I would have a harder time getting used to not having a normal gear shift in the center console. But it is SO easy to get used to the little stick that you twist to go into D/N/R and the P button is very easy to get used to pressing. The SCREEN! Absolutely INCREDIBLE how many features are on this car. The way you can customize the screen and the spedometer is so cool. There are just a few things that prevent me from giving it a 5 star review... 1. Sometimes, when I turn off the car, THE AC STAYS ON?! It's so weird! I've had to resort to turning off my car, seeing whether or not the AC is somehow still on, if it is, I have to turn the car back on and then turn the AC off manually, THEN when I turn the car off the AC stays off... It's really weird! It only happens occasionally, but it's really annoying when you get home, think your car is off, only to find the AC has been going inside of the car all night... 2. The front plate mount comes with the car, but you have to figure out how to install it yourself... unless the dealer does it for you. Otherwise, you drive without a front plate (not advisable for Californians) or, you do what I did, and get super strong hook and loop (industrial strength velcro made of plastic), and mount it to the front that way. I'm not brave enough to drill it into the car-- there are WAY too many sensors to worry about accidentally knicking. 3. This car beeps at EVERYTHING. Its depth perception isn't the best... Which wouldnt be a problem, except if theres a car like 30 feet away, but the car perceives it as closer, THE CAR WILL BRAKE FOR YOU... While I appreciate this when trying to squeeze in and out of a tight paralell parking situation, its really stupid when I'm just trying to back out of my driveway and theres PLENTY of space... and yet... it still stops because it perceives whatever object as being closer than it is.... It also corrects it's position if another car gets too close... Again, shouldn't be a bad thing, but if it mis-perceives the distance between you and another car, it can overcorrect VERY suddenly. It has only happen to me once, but it scared me! 4. Why is every seat and row electrically handled, but the third row isn't?! But.. To put the third row down, you just press a button. To have the seats back up, you have to pull them up by a strap the old fashioned way. Seems really strange that the third row is only half electric?! 5. This, I will say, has only happened to me twice. It scared the daylights out of me each time, but I'm thankful it hasn't happened more often. Again, this only happened twice. I was stopped at a red light, flat street, green light turns, I let off the brake aaannnddd.... the car reverses slightly! Once you hit the gas, it goes forward, but I can't tell you how scared I was that I was going to back into the car behind me while I was IN DRIVE.... Overall, this is an incredible car with other worldly features. The cons of it are small... but mighty, and honestly, probably fixable as they continue to develop the tech in the car. I never-not want to drive an Ioniq 9, I will be upgrading the model every few years because the pros FAR outweigh the cons. It's like driving a spaceship-- so if you aren't tech savy, this is NOT the car for you. If you're willing to learn, it is absolutely worth it.

The vehicle is great except for the terrible fragile paint job

The paint job is way too fragile so it is frustrating to see chips in the paint that should never be there. Other than that, it is a great vehicle

Nice, comfortable roomy car with good range.

Great car. I don't love the exterior styling, the key fobs are ridiculously large and the software has some weird limitations (only 2 driver profiles and one phone key that can be shared rather than multiple phone keys).

My second EV

I previously owned another EV from a luxury brand and came to the ioniq 9 when needing a third row. The ioniq 9 is comfortable, feels premium, and has great safety features. The app and infotainment work very well. The one place where this car misses the mark is in its ability to estimate range. My previous car was very accurate and would adapt its range based on how I was driving and other conditions like the heating/AC. However, on one stretch of 40 miles of highway driving during which I used adaptive cruise set to 68mph and hit no traffic, I used 60 miles of range. This discrepancy is frustratingly incorrect. While the EPA estimation of miles per kWh is a good metric, I would prefer to not have to do math to drive my car and just go off the range on the dashboard.

great car with some areas for improvement

I like the car, rides smooth, feels luxurious. I hate the door lock options, i should be able to lock the doors automatically when i walk away. There should be a dog or kids mode where I can lock the door and have the airconditioning on if I want. Also the trunk opening is too small, its small than my Honda CRV opening even though the trunk is bigger. This is a problem for loading and unloading.

Spacious and comfortable

A very nice car. It is my first electric vehicle, and there is a lot to learn. Perhaps too much gadgetry for a boomer. Took a bit of work to figure out how to get FM radio tuned. I thought it would get better mileage than it does. I wind up charging it much more frequently than expected. But there are a lot of public chargers in my area.

Love the Ioniq 9, but . . .

Really love the car and am happy with it, but the front passenger door seal is inadequate. At highway speeds, it sounds like the window is slightly open. The driver's side is quiet, but even the driver can hear the noise from the passenger door.

Great car, plenty of seating room

The Ionic 9 is like spaceship - it is so cool, comfortable and with bells and whistles. Passengers in the back and the front have their own controls. The seats can be heated or cooled. The mileage range so far has been spot on. There is an overabundance of safety cameras - but despite that the warning beeps and vibrations are sometimes over stimulation and hard to hard with what the "danger" is you are being warned about. It is also a bit wide and hard to make tight turns. There is also a tire key that I was not given when I bought the car so they could not rotate my tires - that needs to be solved. I love the screen, the wifi, the seats, the moonroof just about everything. The trunk doesn't not have much room but I am guessing that was sacrificed for ample seating space. The Frunk - front trunk has enough space for a purse which is disappointing. Overall would I buy this again - probably because we needed the seating space and my family is TALL and the EV is fantastic. They need to add more EV charging stations to the search map because if they don't appear in their system then you can't use them and there's no way to contact customer service for help. That being said so far I have not run out of range. I love this car.
