Frequent check engine light and misfiring

My first sign should have been when the CEL came on moments after I left the dealer. I was told that the O2 sensor can trigger a fault after a vehicle sat up awhile. I said "okay." After the very next fill-up, 600 miles later, the CEL returned, but now with terrible misfiring issues. CEL started flashing. Brought it to the dealer, told me they reset the fault again. Very next fill-up. CEL is back. Let's see what the excuse is this time.

Great car if you don't have a warranty issue.

My Ioniq broke down on the freeway. It shut off in the fastlane in traffic. It was incredibly dangerous, I could have been seriously injured or killed. When I took the car to the dealer it took over 35 days to diagnose and repair the issue. During that time, Hyundai USA would not return my phone calls, and when they finally did, they were not helpful or sympathetic. The main person I dealt with was indifferent and hostile. Yes, eventually they figured it out and repaired the car, but they way they treated me was horrible. I worry that it will be equally difficult to get any future warranty issues addressed in a timely fashion. I also know now that dealing with Hyundai USA is next to impossible. So I can't recommend the brand to anyone looking for a car with a good warranty and good customer service to match.

Hybrid MPG Disappointment

I purchased the Hyundai Ioniq because of the rated MPG of 55/54. It looks better than a toyota prius by a long shot, with about the same MPG. However, 3 weeks after purchase, the traction control motor goes out and it's at the dealership for 30 days while they wait on the part to come in. After that, MPG has been horrible, the traction control motor got replaced AGAIN, and Hyundai won't help with the issue. Hyundai said the MPG could be about 34% less than what is rated based on conditions. Meaning the 55 MPG rating is okay if it's only get 36 MPG.

how did they think this car was ok to drive?!

The car constantly jerks when you accelerate!! It’s a hybrid! It’s supposed to be a smooth quiet drive!! This car is the opposite of that it’s disappointing!! I thought it’d go away after driving it for a while but nothing! If I could take it back I would! The car jerks even more if I don’t drive it for a day! Just horrible!

Lots of problem with Ioniq 2017

Reached over 85,000 miles. From the beginning, knocking noise when start and stop. Hyundai service told me something was loose and they tightened. Took 10 days to figue out the problem. Transmission is not smooth and jerks when stop or reduce speed since I bought it as new car. There are other problems but waste of time. Do not expect durability and long period of owning it.

Recalls

I haven’t had thecar a year yet & I’m working on my 3rd recall, it rides ok, gas mileage is good, sorry I settled for apple play, instead of upgraded stereo system & gps, & the electronics, adaptive cruise control etc. I have this stuff on other car, I have less than 3,000 miles on it but will be looking to trade it in

great mileage, bad on recalls and safety

bought in 2017, but won't again. too many recalls and issues with this car in less than a year. back window very difficult to see out of - it's a design flaw. great mileage for gas, but not enough to counteract going to get it serviced every month.

So many repairs

There have been at least 4 recalls and a fuse went hour causing car to be disabled and need a tow. All in less than 2.5 years of ownership. The ffront framing is so low it scrapes on parking blocks and curbs

Excellent car, poor body.

What can I say. Runs extremely well but as you can not see where the nonexistent bumpers are, the plastic body is splintered. Very nice to drive. An honest 60 miles to the gallon. Not bad looking.

Test Drive in Direct Sunlight, or during three day return period!!

Overall a very nice car. Comfortable, great mileage, roomy and well-designed--with one notable exception. There is very extensive glare/reflection of the dash (particularly when it is light colored) onto the windshield, rendering it highly distracting. This is not covered by warranty, nor by Lemon Law. Hyundai will not do anything about this except compensate for dash cover. This problem also appears in the 2017 Elantra, but not as bad.

It's an average car

Nothing special about this car. It's a 2017 car so it has it's bells and whistles of technology that any other car has that's newer. The gas mileage is excellent and the only reason I don't hate this car. To have such excellent gas mileage, the car has pretty cheap plastics to hold it up to keep the weight of the car down.

Great MPGs...At A Cost

The Ioniq Hybrid is a great vehicle for those commuting that strictly need a great MPG car to get from point A to Point B. We average about 51 MPG combined and love not having to fill up very often. The entertainment system is fantastic and Android Auto gives you a GPS automatically, so there is no need to get the upgraded model. However, the road noise and the sluggish acceleration, make it a tough choice if you've experienced some of the more refined competitors to the Ioniq.

Disappointed with Ioniq mpg

When we purchased the Ioniq, the sticker quoted 55 mpg. We are averaging 35-45 mpg and are driving mostly in economy mode. We are extremely disappointed in the mpg we are receiving.
