2021 Hyndai Kona

Lousy vehicle!!! Nothing good to say about vehicle!!! Regret leasing vehicle. ! I have nothing good to say about this vehicle. I have nothing good to say about the salesman that sold me this vehicle. I have nothing good to say about the dealership at leased me this vehicle. I will no longer be purchasing a Hyundai vehicles. A four year lease is too long. The amount of the lease monthly was misrepresented on television commercial. I feel that this deal should be reported to the Attorney General of the state of New York. I have nothing good to say. The vehicle sits in my driveway I refuse to drive it. The safety features don’t work on the window locks. When I’ve called for service there is no availability for someone to pick the vehicle up and service it and deliver it back to me. I should’ve bought a Mercedes!

Kona 2021 display dashboard

I bought this car 28 days ago and it has taken me 28 days to get an appointment for a loaner in order for them to “try” to fix the vehicle. The display dashboard never worked. I’m very frustrated! A returning customer is based on the service department not the salesman.

Ghost sensors, shifting and engine

The 1st 2k miles the car was amazing. Turbo engine option is great for passing, accelerating and hill travels. However, ghost sensors, reverse shifting and of course engine idling issues became present after 4k miles.

FIrst lemon in nearly 40 years of car ownership

I was a Hyundai fan all the way. I traded in my AWESOME trouble-free 2012 Accent for a brand new 2021 Kona in February 2021. Within a few months there was is strange stuttering/skipping upon acceleration. I took the vehicle in and it took nearly a month for it to be repaired. First, the dealership provided all of the diagnostics to Hyundai for assistance and Hyundai was completely unresponsive. Because of that, they had to replace the entire transmission. When they were doing that, there was a problem with the CV axle and THAT had to be repaired as well. Now I'm stuck making payments on a car that I'm scared to drive just waiting for the wheels to call up or something to explode. Instead of being excited to own a new car, I'm completely disappointed, and wish I had kept my 2012 Accent.

Major transmission problem the first month of ownership which resulted in a safety issue and the original dealer's service department offered no assistance whatsoever other than to schedule an appointment weeks in the future.

Sporty little car with potential but lots of issue

After considering purchasing the HRV we decided to downsize to the Kona for our family. Within six months of purchasing the new car we started having acceleration issues engine clicking issues and overall performance issues and decreased gas mileage. Car has been with the dealership for over two months and engaging stalling still undiagnosed.

Look elsewhere

The car has very slow acceleration, I am concerned when entering a highway. Little or no radio reception. Stations have too much static or cannot get any reception. I look forward to the lease ending.

Engine failure

I helped my daughter purchase her first new car. Engine went out and left her stranded after 12k miles. We bought the new car for a reliable source to get her to college and work. It took a week to get her a rental. We are now waiting for the motor to be replaced under warranty. This was a big disappointment.

I would never recommend this car to anybody. There is no room inside for anyone to sit in the back especially behind a driver in the trunk the small and the way it drives sucks it is not a car for a tall person

The company does not stand behind their product.

The warranty has not helped nor repaired the car and the excuses used by the dealer to not repair it, are mundane. Honesty, has not been considered yet nor used, from the top of Hyundai, all the way down.

1.5 turbo has terrible transmission problems

I have a Kona 1.5 turbo that has been in the shop for 2 months out of the one year I’ve owned it for the same problem. It seems Hyundai cannot get their clutch issues corrected so the problem still persists.

This vehicle is not in my possession in the longer I took it to the Cadillac dealership to purchase it for me and I bought me a new Cadillac one month later due to your horrible customer service. I took the loss and I don’t care

Don’t buy

Road noise is horrible, engine stalls, paint chips, safety features do not work properly. Back up camera works half the time. I leased a 2018 and had no issues. Purchased 2020 brand new and wished I never purchased.

Disgraceful!

Hyundai should be ashamed selling this car with a bad engine and telling people to keep driving it until cooperate approves fixing! It’s a lemon! I have called the Ny state attorney general! Highway safety! FTC! Next is the media and a lawyer. I can’t believe this is how you treat your costumers! I have owned Hyundai’s my whole life! I will never purchase another again!

Seats are junk tranny hunts for gears

Seats are hard flat transmission never finds the correct gear. Suspension is stiff and not very good fuel mileage. I traded this in right away on a new ford Maverick and am so glad I did. I would not recommend this car.

Too many issues not worth paid price

Paint issues, engine jumped time and continual excessive oil consumption - company doesn't want to stand behind brand and fix the known issue. Too many return visits to the Dealership costing loss of time and gas $. I will NEVER buy another Hyundai vehicle.

Transmission issues. Dangerous driving.

Car is a great car comfortwise. Haning and steering wonderful. The car hesitates and jerks and from stopped position and at slow roll. Does not respond when gas pedal is pressed half the time. Dangerous!! Very scary to drive when car hesitates and doesn’t respond. Third hyundai and last. Dealer says it’s an issue with this model kona due to dual clutch transmission and turbo. Will not fix it.

after purchasing brand new noticed had engine issues

has issues with engine, when trying to accelerate the car tugs and RPM goes up to 5 sometimes 6, doesn't matter weather condition, time or number of people in the car. even driving normally on the street the engine tugs, happens at whenever and regularly

To many mechanical issues for a brand new car

Really wish this was more reliable. I paid way to much money cash for this car. It’s left a bad taste in my mouth for hyndai and gives me serious doubts about the manufacture quality of these cars overall.
