My Santa FE

I love my Santa Fe. wish I could afford a new one. Mine is a 2002.. But it's been good to me. I have only had several problems with the air conditioning but I beiieve that it was poor mechanics/repair places that took me to the cleaners. Would buy a new one if I could.

Hyundai Sante FE 2002

Love my 2002 Sante Fe. It has been good to me. It is getting older as any vehicle with keeping up the maintenance it is going run as long as you take care of it. Aside from a few recent major repairs due to its age, I LOVE IT! Would I buy another one? Yes, I would.

DIE HARD HONDA FAN BUT SATISFIED WITH THIS HYUNDAI

This car was a gift from my mom which was purchased brand new 16 years ago. It's had a pretty good history. I've sold Honda and owned MANY Hondas. This car has helped me stop looking down on the other 'H'.

Enjoying my Santa Fe

I bought this little old SUV after reading positive reviews. So far so good, replacing worn suspension parts is an acceptable cost for safe operation. I would buy a new one from my appreciation of b this 2002 model showing 185k miles. Only bad thing was visiting the local Hyundai dealer. It would have been the most horribly expensive repair choice.

Santa Fe 2.7 V6 FWD

Purchased it used with ~170k miles for $520 and fixed the exhaust, AC, and eventually a new "used" transmission. I can fit my mtn bike in the rear with the seats folded down. I like the higher view ride and it was a great price used. I would not pay more than $750 for a similar year with miles as the transmissions will likely go out at 150-200k miles, but cheap for a new transmission installed for $1300 (by my local mechanic with 6 month warranty).

Great vehicle when it works - Prone to severe rust issues and poor reliability

This is a challenging vehicle to review because I really like this SUV but just cannot recommend it to anyone to purchase used. First the pros: I really like my Santa Fe for its smooth ride and excellent visibility. It is easy to park and has an attractive body shape. It can carry a ton of cargo and has sufficient power to go fast if needed. It is great in the snow. Now the cons: Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the first generation Santa Fe to anyone due to terrible paint/clear coat, unacceptable subframe rusting (dangerous) and poor reliability overall. I have replaced nearly all of the front suspension parts, full brakes, master cylinder, crankshaft sensor, starter, fuel pump, and a slew of other expensive parts. The radio is possessed and turns on when it feels like it. I have been towed more times in this vehicle in two years than I have across three prior vehicles over 20 years. Overall reliability is just terrible for various unrelated (and critical) parts. In sum, avoid this old vehicle unless you want a money pit that could become a safety hazard without active maintenance. I am only maintaining mine because I invested too much into it already. I would be surprised it if lasts me 2 years before needing to be scrapped due to safety concerns.
