Love it

The Santa Fe has been a great and reliable source of transportation. With 92,000 miles it still performs like new. No regrets buying this vehicle. My only regret is this survey having to be a minimum of 200 characters.

Santa Fe loss of power 2x

Second occurance of loss of power on highway within last two months, plus bearing failure in rear differential (which was covered under warranty, thankfully). AWD switch failure last month and alternator replacement this month were not covered under warranty

Great car

My Santa Fe has been a very dependable and great car to drive. It has many great features such as a backup camera, heated seats, and great adaptability for transporting large cargo. It is very comfortable for long trips and is easy to park.

2012 Santa Fe Review

The Santa Fe is running as well now as when I bought it. Have been extremely pleased with everything about it. Good headroom and space throughout. Have had no maintenance problems at all. Will definitely get another Santa Fe for my next car.

2012 Santa Fe Limited

Love my truck! Turns on a dime. It has all the features short of a back lift gate that I wanted that were available at the time of purchase in 2012. Mileage is acceptable but could be better for short trips. I am retired so don't go far. A bit noisy, road noise but acceptable. I really don't pay much attention to it now but do mostly short trips. If I was in the truck for my work longer, it would be more noticeable.

All you can hope for in a vehicle.

My 2012 model is the second Hyundai Santa Fe I have owned. The first was a 2007 model which I drove until 2012 when I traded it in for my 2012. In the past I have owned two BMW's, two Mercedes Benz's and a Porsche 911S, with all five vehicles being purchased new. One of the BMW's and both of the Mercedes Benz's were constantly riddled with mechanical problems. Yet they were so prestigious and beautiful that I continued to buy them in spite of the problems. I then discovered and purchased a Hyundai Santa Fe while my wife drove her Mercedes Benz. Mechanical problems in my life were then cut in half because both of my Santa Fe's almost never had mechanical problems, other than one issue that was readily covered under warranty. The features in both Santa Fe's have been great and very useful. My 2012 has a sunroof, a great stereo system, an air conditioning unit that will literally freeze you in 110 degree weather, a rear back up camera, a GPS system and countless other bells and whistles that are so useful. The mileage is a little under 25 miles per hour, but then again the ride is so smooth and the power train is so strong I often have to keep myself from speeding. And the riding comfort is amazing for an SUV. All in all, especially when compared to the more prestigious and expensive cars I have owned, the Hyundai Santa Fe's are the best cars I have ever owned, bar one. The Porsche 911S is legendary for a reason. I am now considering buying another Santa Fe, or keeping my current Santa Fe until I retire in a couple of years.

Love my Santa Fe

I have taken many road trips in my Santa Fe. It is always a comfortable ride. I never get any complaints. My Santa Fe is fun to drive. We take turns driving and sitting in different seats, front and back. The whole vehicle is roomy. Lots of trunk space. I could just go on and on about my Santa Fe, lol. So, yes, I Love My Santa Fe!

Great vehicle for the money

Picked it up at the dealership in June 2012. LX package with the 3.5 liter “Korean” engine which is a real screamer. Respectable fuel mileage, 18 or so MPG around town and up to 32 MPG on a cool day with AC off. On hot days with the AC at full bore MPG drops to around 28. Vehicle has trailer towing package and is rated up to 3,500 # with a 300# tounge weight. Both numbers are a tad optimistic, especially the tounge weight. We pulled a 2,700 gvw trailer on several long trips and average 17 MPG running 60 MPH through the hills of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Highly recommend use of a weight distribution hitch. Did have a problem with a bad AC compressor and the vehicle was out of service for a couple of months in 2015 as the dealership attempted to find a replacement. Truck handles great and elicits a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride on the interstate. If you can find one with the 3.5 liter engine go for it. We have 65,000 miles on ours and we hope it lasts forever.

Pros & Cons

Our 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe is an economical car. It is a comfortable ride with good fuel economy. Wish it had daytime running lights. Backing up is more difficult with this model due to the partial vision obstruction caused by the rear seat headrests. Overall a good vehicle.

Love my 2012 SantaFe!

I have owned 20 cars. In January 2005, I was traveling to Minneapolis in January for a week, and rented my first Hyundai SantaFe. I was extremely impressed! It performed very well in the snow, the cockpit was thoughtfully designed, sightlines good, rear seating generous legroom (unlike my very uncomfortable 2002 Ford Explorer), very nice cargo area, including a spare plug-in, and a split window/tailgate. I was driving a 2005 Chrysler DreamCruiser in 2006 when I bought a small boat and trailer. I did not want to overload its transmission and low-profile frame with a towing package, so I bought a used 2004 SantaFe with 60K miles on it for a very reasonable price. Again, even though it was a different model year, it had the same comfortable and thoughtful features, including easily cleaned premium cloth seats I really appreciated in the hot climates. I found myself driving the SantaFe most of the time just for the better mileage and cargo space. And, when I was contracted to the Big Island, which is mountainous terrain, the SantaFe went with me, at some expense. I drove it for 2 years there, where it did astoundingly well with extreme terrain and expensive gas, and when it came time to leave, I sold it there to a dealership (at their prices, not owner-sale) for a net profit including shipping it there! Talk about retaining your value. So when it came time to buy a new car, I bought my current 2012. That model year kept everything I liked about the first 2, except they changed the tailgate to a single piece. I REALLY miss having the split window; it was so useful when cargo shifted, or you had something long that had to stick out the back for a short drive. Could you Hyundai people PLEASE bring that back as an option? Anyway, I'm extremely happy with my 2012 model. It's the medium options package, but suits my needs. Sadly, the dealer did not have the good cloth available with that package, so I make due with the leather, but it's light-colored enough I usually don't get burned in shorts. I specifically like the ease of using the foglights, the compass embedded in the mirror (why every car doesn't have one is just beyond me), the low-air tire monitoring system, the rubberized cargo bed-liner that folds up just enough to access the underfloor storage, the 3 sets of overhead lights, the rear wiper with washer fluid, the center console night light, and the way the wipers, lights, and turn signals are configured on the steering column. The AC is crucial in Florida, and for 6+ years it has been very reliable and quick to cool the passenger compartment: best AC system I've had, and the motor does not seem to labor even when using max AC in terrain. (I have the 3.7L V6 - not sure that would be true of the smaller motor). I also appreciate the change between the 2004 and 2012 models that changed the electric system to turn off interior lights if a door isn't fully closed. I think it's on a 10 minute delay now, but I had a couple dead batteries under the old system, where that's no longer a problem. Things I would like to see improved a bit better, I really want that split window tailgate back! There's a little larger than usual blind spot in the left and right side-mirrors unless they're adjusted exactly, so they could be a bit larger or have a convex inset. My satellite antenna had a strange paper tape wrap protecting it rather than a hard shell, and car washes have torn that off and it doesn't work as reliably as it first did now. For some reason, my right headlamp and fog light both quit working last week after only 67,000 miles. They were a bit expensive to replace, and I would have expected them to last much longer than that. The back of both front bucket seats have leather pockets that are very tight at the lip, and one tore open very easily. I would prefer they had a gusset or a bit of an elastic gather so a realistic amount of things could be placed in them.

2012 Hyundai Sante Fe........Perfect

Our Santa Fe is getting some maturity to it now (73 K) and it rides as nice, is as quiet and gets better mileage than when new (23 to 28 mpg). The steering is still tight and responsive, trans is flawless and the engine has a mountain of power. It is a real pleasure to drive and I have found the visibility from the drivers seat to be exceptional. We actually viewed this as one of the reasons we purchased it over competition. The interior appointments, and functional space in the cabin help round out the decision along with all mentioned here. We are totally happy with the Hyundai and will look to this brand again, IF we ever decide to replace our Santa Fe. Just a great car and our dealer, Simmons-Rockwell, has a top notch service dept. on all levels. Smilin' all the time!

I LOVE MY sANTE FE

I have been driving my Sante Fe for 6 years. I have had minimal issues and the dealer has been kind and only done necessary repairs. I bought an expended warranty which has been upheld. I had some rear-end work done which required my vehicle to be kept for a week. Repairs were covered as was a rental car. Excellent vehicle and service!

We bought our Santa Fe in January 2015. We have so enjoyed our car. It rides so smoothly and love driving my car. We have only had to do standard maintenance, such a reliable vehicle. I will definitely buy another Sante Fe

Great car!

We have had an incredible experience with our Santa Fe. It had been very reliable with minimal issues (typical wear and tear stuff) and has been driven all over the country. We always feel safe and comfortable when driving and know we can depend on it. We'll likely upgrade to a newer model once we feel this one has been put to enough use!

Smooth ride, lots of room - best car we've ever driven

Can't say enough about your Hyundai Santa Fe. Spent over 2 months test driving multiple cross-overs/SUV's and this one is by far exceeds all others. The ride is smooth and very comfortable. Enjoy the additional 'bells and whistles' the car offers including Bluetooth capabilities, syncing with our garage door, GPS monitor is nicely sized and easy to use, controls are located in all the right places for me to reach when by myself. Our next car will be a Santa Fe for sure!

2012 Santa Fe

This has been very good only few things that came up and must were taken care of under warranty, one rear shock, hub bearing and a sun roof gasket all no cost to me. The only thing that I had to pay out of pocket repair was the high side A/C line, the other repairs are maintains repair cost which is normal.
