Love everything except the headlights

I absolutely love my 2013 Santa Fe. There is one issue that would cause me to trade and that is the bad angle of the headlights. They cannot be adjusted and on curvy country roads I can’t see far enough ahead to feel safe. This problem has been complained about online for years even up to the 2017 models. Unfortunately, it’s enough of a problem to cause me to never buy another Hyundai.

I bought it for the gas mileage facture but a little disappointed that the published number are for perfect weather only. The gas mileage goes way down in winter Wisconsin weather .Very disappointed in the back up camera, doesn't work and cost too much to have it fixed.

Could be better

Our experience with our 2013 Santa Fe sport has been a very mixed bag. Overall, this vehicle has some very nice features it’s spacious with great cargo space, has comfortable seating, good electronics (except for the doors locks that were never fixed) However, the suspension system (probably the struts) didn’t hold up well at all. The ride was comprised in just 2-3 years. Additionally, the vehicle handling on a highway was always poor until the factory tires were replaced with a good set of michelin tires after 50,000 miles. Lastly, our engine failed at 79,000. miles just a few weeks ago while we were on vacation. Although it was covered under warranty, we felt betrayed because we were never apprised of the possibility that this could happen in that model year. This was not the vehicle we expected when we purchased it in 2013.

disappointed

Had to replace a starter lever which was broken in half and caused my being stranded on a busy road. Why Hyundai would make that moving plastic part and put it in the middle of an engine makes no sense. Of course it's eventually going to break which is what happened. It also cost a lot to repair because the starter is so deep inside the engine compartment. Very disappointed and wasted my whole day.

Nice but room for improvement

I love my Santa fe however it really wish I had gotten all wheel drive. This truck is not good in Michigan winters. It slides and gets stuck. My tires were pretty new. I even though I would just change them and the guy at the dealer told me they didn't need it. I am not looking forward to my winter commute coming soon

Review of my Santa Fe Sport 2T

The car has been a good car. Some design issues: the noise I get when a back window is open, very irritating. A service light for the passenger air bag goes on and off on its own, service has not been able to fix, the fuel gauge being inside the gas tank was an issue on a repair. Radio could be upgraded to be easier to use. Gas mileage reimbursement program is not well managed and is very disappointing and Hyundai does not respond and because of this issue I would have to think hard about replacement with another Hyundai.

Brakes are a serious issue.

I have always loved my 2013 Santa Fe Sport until my rear brakes failed for a second time just 23,800 miles since the first time when both front and rear brakes gave out, ruining the rear rotors each time. There was absolutely NO warning either time. There is only 57,000 miles on the vehicle. I do not ride the brake or otherwise cause premature wear. I will not buy this model again as there are obviously problems with brake wear, backed up by a quick google search. This was my first Hyundai and may be my last. The great comfort and features of my car are not as important as safety and the resulting expense.

Beauty and the beast

Wonderful exterior and interior design but a massive flop of engine design to match the car convenience. I bought the car relatively new and confronted with engine and turbo problem which Larry Miller resolved for me. Am holding on to the car because of Larry Miller having faith they got me.

cheap electronics and they know it

solid basic vehicle electronic add-ons not worth it. buttons very hard to read and operate. guessing what you need versus what it does. dealer remote start shuts off when your ready to drive and step on the brake. Now you have to start everything again including electronics.

Not as good as previous year models

The 2013 Sante Fe is not the same quality as previous year models I have owned. It seems to have cut corners. My vehicle has had numerous recalls and I have had to repair it more often. The seat recline lever broke before I even drove the new car off the lot. I had to replace both front and rear breaks (not just brake pads) before the car had 35,000 miles.

2013 Santa Fe

In general, I really like my 2013 Santa Fe Limited. I am becoming increasingly concerned with the number of items that seem to be excluded from the famous "comprehensive 100 ,000 mile warranty. My latest major expense involved a defective/failed resistor mechanism re my heater/AC blower.

Too many recalls

I have now taken my Sante Fe in for Hyundai recalls numerous times. I have never owned a vehichle with so many issues. My back up camera stopped working completely and the vehicle wasnt even 5 years old yet. I was told that the back up camera was not under warranty. Also, I have read that the back up camera in Hyundais are known problem with no resolution. Very disappointing. I love the space, design and many other features of the Sante Fe but getting irritated with being inconvenienced taking my car in for recalls, with no type of compensation.

Hyundai Corporation does not believe in satisfying customers

Overall pretty good car if didnt have the oil leaking problem, takes time to bring the car every 1000 miles, 4 or 5 times. Did not appreciate when the car was brand new having to pay over $200. to fix the switch on door that opens the gas door. Had extended warranty and it was 40,000 miles old.

Remains to be seen.

I used to tell people this is the best vehicle I have ever had. Now, however, I am cautious saying that. My brakes (front and back) failed after about 23,000 miles. The rear brakes failed again at about (close estimate without checking my detailed log) when odometer was about 50,000 miles. First, the second set of brakes were not routinely inspected by my former dealership. However, when I researched the internet to see if brake failure was often reported I discovered that engine failure was reported a lot and that customers were receiving no help from Hyundai. Lot and behold I got a notice re: that engine problem from Hyundai last week and have had it serviced with the “fix” installed. I have a folder about my brake problems with very detailed information, using Burdick Hyundai’s own service checklist, which leads me to believe that the second brake failure (which was dangerous) May have been due in part to negligence/improper attention to them during routine inspections, tire rotations, etc. Genuine Hyundai parts (some) were not used during the first repair. I really should send all that info to you since it cost this retired lady on a fixed income $1300., money I had earmarked for home repairs. Fucillo Service in Watertown NY was excellent. As to the original question if I like my Hyundai, frankly I am quite nervous about what will go wrong next....brakes twice, potential for engine failure....unfortunately I am no longer feeling confident and am undecided if I would buy another Hyundai. My daughter bought a used 2015 Sport because I had been so happy with mine until the first brake failure. She told me she will likely not patronize Burdick Hyundai again not buy another one. I used to give this car a solid 10 and am sorry it is a shaky 4 or 5 now.

Santa Fe Review

I have 56 thousand miles on my vehicle and the warranty just went out. Just in time for three lights to illuminate. The ECS (Electronic Stability Control), DBC (Downhill Break Control) and ABS (Antilock Breaking System) are all illuminated. After searching the internet, I have found numerous complaints of the exact same nature. Some even stating that they were told it would cost $4500.00 to correct as the wire bundle had to be replaced. Up to this point, I have been very pleased with my Santa Fe, how Hyundai handles this issue for me will directly effect my decision to purchase another brand.

Santa Fe sport

I have a 2013 Santa Fe sport. 87,000 miles. It seems like the past few months, I have had to have it repaired several times. It is not as dependable as I thought it would be. Just not sure I would buy another Hyundai.
