On the right track, but...

With the tech package the vehicle reaches the basic level of functionality I would expect most modern cars to be at. I find it annoyingly frustrating the tech functions are an option, and even other basic items like floor mats have to be bought separately. It's a great way to antagonize customers, and it's one of the reasons I likely won't recommend this brand. That kind of marketing sleight of hand is not what I'd expect on a 45K vehicle. Other problems arise only in display menu organizations and layouts of the interior. My next most important personal gripe in layout is that the front seats don't recline much, the sensation almost as bad as in an airline seat. You can get a couple extra degrees removing the head rests on the back seats when they're folded down, but it's a big hassle for not that much gain. That leads to another big issue for me: when folded down, the seats don't create a flat surface...super annoying If you use the SUV to haul items. I ended up building my own rear deck which is just a flat plane. The final gripe is with the display system: (1) they use old fashioned touch screen tech which makes it hard to press options, (2) The GPS menus are badly designed making me wish they had simply created a GPS system which I could upgrade using apps from a third party vendor who specializes in GPS, like Garmin, (although even their designs aren't ideal, just much better than Hyundai's); (3) Why are there just 5 POI folders, and why can't one make their own? Why can't they be nested?; (4) The other super annoying problem are all the meaningless legal notifications which can't be turned off after you've read them once. Instead of a dumb battery discharge warning which cycles endlessly, just put in a battery meter and let owners turn off all the built in parasitic loads on the power system! Why can't the no-display option be the default? I ordinarily know there are private roads on a route and never need to be notified of it even if I don't know. It's idiotic to classify shopping mall drive lanes with that legal nagware about private routes. All these absurd dialogue response boxes are making the tech twice as dangerous to have in the car, especially since they use the old fashioned stiff respose touch screens, making it difficult and dangerous to interact with the displayof .

Needs more distinct notification sounds

Every warning tone sounds nearly identical to the others, all involve repeated beeping, and all the beeps sound about the same. Allow sound options, like user provided sounds, or better default sounds.

Great looking car, but transmission falls short

I love the look of the car and the extras inside like the auto liftgate, leather/heated seats, bluetooth and keyless entry, but the transmission shifting is rough, the engine is loud when starting and in neutral and the braking is very touchy.

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

No comment I have said all I am going to say in previous comments and I think this survey is much too long and am tired of answering questions. I probably won't keep this vehicle after the lease period is up.

My Santa Fe Ultimate Limited

My 2017 Santa Fe could have been a very good vehicle if Hyundai didn't put the worlds worse transmission in it. There is way too much hesitation when the transmission needs to downshift. When coasting at slow speed such as approaching a red stop light and the light turns green so you need to accelerate and there is a huge hesitation before the transmission goes into gear. It acts like it was in neutral and when you try to accelerate there is a hesitation before the transmission find a gear. This can get scary when you try to cut across a lane of traffic and the vehicle doesn't move due to transmission hesitation. I had a 2011 Santa Fe and it never had this problem.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited

We traded our Hyundai Vera Cruz for the Santa Fe because the Vera Cruz was no longer available. The Santa Fe is VERY INFERIOR to the Vera Cruz with regard to the quality and design of the interior of the car. The only thing nicer about the Santa Fe is the new electronic systems (GPS, Back-up camera/video, etc). There is NO AC control or proper venting for the back seats, there are old-fashioned/cheap bars on the floor under the seats to move the back seats, the quality of the vinyl/leather(?) on the seats is not holding up well like the Vera Cruz did, there is no rain sensor on the windshield wipers, and on and on... We will NOT buy another Santa Fe but will wait for Hyundai to make another car like the Vera Cruz or we'll change to a Lexus or Mercedes SUV. It was a huge mistake to stop making the Vera Cruz... that was a remarkable car and we miss it greatly!!

acceptable but with concern over performance

Performance indicates vehicle is under powered vs weight seems to downshift too often and hesitate when attempting to accelerate during highway driving and seems to roughly downshift when local driving after having driven at highway speed for a period of time and when starting out after setting for a period of time..

60k engine light?

Went to the dealer, got charged $150. Just to tell me nothings wrong. Thinking about trading. This is the second “failure” I’ve had with the car. Don’t believe this should happen with a new car. Maybe it’s time for a trade.

Disappointed

After i decided I wanted to keep the car I have had transmission replaced; condenser and compressor repair. This comes to close to the 100,000 mile warranty now this all this in a 6month time frame.... was this car built to quickly or what?

It’s a nice vehicle

I like the look but I’m disappointed that the car is starting to have issues after a year. I’ve had such great success with my 2011 & 2013 Sonata’s and thought I have the same with the Santa Fe. The rear shocks, peeling rim paint and very basic features on the remote access app are disappointing. I hope they make simple changes to keep the brand one I keep coming back to.

Great running car, Rough ride.

We decided to upgrade our vehicle when our son was born. We had heard good things about the Sante Fe and decided to try one. For the most part, it is a great vehicle. But is rides really hard, especially in the winter. Gas mileage is better than expected, so overall, an OK vehicle.

Laciking space

The third row is very tight for passengers and difficult to get into. No cargo room for packing when 3rd row seats in place. Lack of space for a purse when someone in passenger seat. Climate controls located in 3rd row seating should be on 2nd row for those passengers. Gas mileage is good. Smooth ride.

It's OK

This is a value SUV, very nice layout on the inside, user friendly. The style is why I bought the Santa Fe, style and price. When I load up the grandkids for the beach, this is the perfect vehicle. My biggest concerns will be the resale, time will tell. The visibility around you as you are driving is excellent, less nervous when driving on the highway. And lets not forget the AWD, really impressed, tried to spin out on snowy roads, couldn't to it.

Last Hyundai

The Santa Fe has been disappointing as far as overall performance. Too many costly repairs on it for a two year old vehicle. Parts are very expensive etc. The chassis seems.looser and noisier than when first new. I have liked some features of this car, but most likely wont purchase this brand again. Also, I have never received my reimbursement on Fuel rebate settlement on the 2013 Sport. $500.00 !

Gas Guzzler

I am used to a Ford I guess. I don't like how the Bluelink is separate and you have to pay for that service as a navigation system and to automatic start your car. The Sante Fe is not good on gas either. I fill up at least twice a week. Strongly considering on purchasing a smaller car for my daily commute to work and letting this be my weekend car.

Nothing Exciting

Does the job, but no special features to get excited over. Gets me to and from where I need to be. Not happy with the performance and haven’t even had it 3 years.. steering is unstable when breaking and considering trading in for another make & model. Not a huge fan of Hyundai.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

My wife and I couldn't be more happy with our Santa Fe. It is a very comfortable and solid ride. However, the only negative is that we were sold a front-wheel drive package when almost all Santa Fe's are all-wheel drive. AWD was something I thought was included (not to mention standard) in my purchase of the 2017 Santa Fe. Living in the northeast, my wife (primary operator) discovered very quickly that the FWD Santa Fe does not handle well in the snow...and I confirmed that fact. If you purchase a Santa Fe, make certain you get the AWD model...especially if you will be operating it in the northeast or areas known the have snow and winter conditions.
