Cold starting problem. Poor fuel economy.

There is a cold starting problem. This is a brand new car. I am taking to dealer next week. Fuel economy is poor, well below what is stated on window sticker. I am averaging 17 mpg city/highway. Engine stop/start performance is inconsistent.

Quality?

We bought a brand new 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe, after owning a 2008 Hyundai Vera Cruz since 2009, with hope that it would live up to our great experience with our Vera Cruz, sadly after 1 month of ownership, it is not living up to those expectations and I am regretting replacing my Vera Cruz with this Vehicle. We have been back to dealer in 1 month more times than we did in all the years of owning the Vera Cruz. Hopefully Hyundai can resolve these issue's for us soon.

Engine hesitates on acceleration

I am disappointed the engine hesitates upon acceleration no matter how long I've been driving the car or at what speed. This makes me feel very uneasy that I have bought a brand new car and I'm having this trouble with it. I also hate the auto start/stop when the brake is applied and that I have to remember to turn this feature off each time I start the car. I an disappointed that frequently upon starting the vehicle, it won't stay running and sputters off again.

Quality below par

Disappointed in quality--the 2015 model = better vehicle in quality and styling/appearance. Excessive noise when moving from a stop position and excessive highway noise. Overall this vehicle is less than what I expected based on previous models of this brand that I have owned.

Extremely rough ride

I’m 70 years old and have owned or driven in many vehicles. My Santa Fe is the worse riding of any! I took it in for service and they said nothing was wrong with it....it’s like that with all Santa Fe’s. It’s fine on smooth surface but as soon as you start hitting even the mildest of bumps, it’s enough to make me nauseous. Others riding in the car have asked why it drives so rough. My sister has a Equinox and it rides great.

Been nothing but a problem since I got it problem from first week I drove it I still have

Feel like I am getting the run around. Because no one else is reporting ploblem I feel like I am getting pushed to the side because I am a woman. The paperwork showing I didn't sign for added charge and then now being told I waited to long to say something. The man that was service manager in August of 2019 he would close the door to office where Dana spoke to me on last visit

Hyundai Santa Fe

This is a great car except the seatbelt rattles and Hyundai management won't let the dealer fix it because it is "tampering with a safety feature." Don't buy one unless you like rattles. Everything else is really good, but a management that allows a rattle to continue that they know about is not worthy of your business.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2020

I love my new Hyundai Santa Fe. It drives well and has all the features I wanted compared to other vehicles in the same class. I hope to upgrade to the Palisade or Genesis SUV one day! Pricing was also better compared to the Toyota Rav 4.

A vehicle with a lot of space inside and ample safety features

Despite it's good looks the Santa Fe has an unacceptable bumpy ride. I would not recommend this vehicle for senior citizens or for anyone with spinal or kidney disorders. If you have to haul a lot of groceries and bulky items and dont mind the poor ride, this may be your car

Disappointing Vehicle

My 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe is the third Santa Fe I have owned. I liked the second one enough that I never considered any other type of vehicle. Big mistake. This car rides rough on any surface road. The tires are hard and noisy. The miles per gallon are less that the car I traded in. And the worst part is I had to pay for accessories on the car I did not want in order to get the ones I did want. Probably my last Hyundai.

2020 Santa Fe is not a smooth quality ride!

I hesitate to recommend purchasing a new Santa Fe to any of my family and friends due to the overall quality of the ride. Our 2009 Santa Fe was built well and the ride quality was very smooth! I believe the wheel base may have something to do with the 2020 Santa Fe's poor ride quality!

Excellent safety features but rough ride and loud engine...

This review is strictly for the 2020 Santa Fe SEL with 2.4 engine, 18" tires, AWD, convenience and premium packages purchased new in August 2020. I based my purchase on many months of research as well as it being listed as the top 2 row SUV in consumer reports, and who can pass up a 5 year warranty?! Unfortunately, I regret my decision to this day after 9 months of driving it. I understand that reviews are subjective but I am one of the most honest people you will find and this is based on my experience. Right from the start, I felt a vibration in the gas pedal and an overall grinding/rumbling feeling with acceleration and just driving on normal pavement. It feels like there is no suspension or the shocks/struts are bad. I drive over the seams on a highway, pot holes, or raised areas on patched roads and there is no absorption and I feel it in my spine. Then regular roads, it just feels like a rough rumbling feeling. It basically goes away when driving on a freshly paved asphalt road which is not common in most places. The second major issue is the loud engine. It will sound like you are driving a race car with no power. Even with gentle acceleration from a red light or stop sign it will still take 5 seconds to shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gears and sounds like the engine is going to burn out. It goes up to 5,000 rpms with no power. It is also dangerous to merge onto a highway without adequate pick up. Once at cruising speed at around 2,000 rpms, it's not bad at all. At cold start up in the morning, summer or winter, it is extra loud with now a whining, buzzy type sound on top of the regular engine sound (if that makes sense) when accelerating. That does dissipate a bit after 5 minutes of driving or so. I'm actually embarrassed to pull out of my neighborhood it sounds so bad. You may be saying, well didn't you test drive this before buying it? Yes, I did and I noticed some rumbling but there are so many things to think about during a test drive, it's hard to focus on just one thing. Additionally, I test drove 2 limiteds prior to this SEL and I did not think the engine sounded as loud with acceleration and the drive felt smoother which is why I kept coming back to the Santa Fe. I originally wanted the limited trim but the seat was not comfortable for my short legs. Then I came across the SEL with both packages which gave me most of what the limited had and the seat was less plush and more comfortable and the price was less. I thought I hit the jackpot. The poor driveability only really became apparent with day to day driving. In fact, when I left the dealer's lot I felt like the underside was going to fall off because there was so much "clanking" under the front end. I took it back and they basically said everything drives as expected. I understand it is a 4 cylinder but I recently test drove 4 different brands when looking for a vehicle for my daughter.....Rav 4, Forester, Mazda CX5, and Tuscon. They all were significantly better...no lie! I contacted Hyundai corporate and they gave me a case number. I thought they would facilitate communication with the dealer but I was wrong. They basically said, take it back and tell them to do x,y,z. Ok, like they will take directions from me. Overall, I took it back to the purchasing dealer 2x and then 2 other dealers. The manager at one said he sees what I'm talking about but that is how the Santa Fe drives. The other dealers say there is no issue. I know this is long and you can take it with a grain of salt if you'd like but I would just say, please, please if you are considering a pre-owned 2020 Santa Fe, take it on an extended overnight test drive. One of my regrets is not doing that. This would be my perfect vehicle because it has everything that I want and need in a long term vehicle EXCEPT for driveability. As far as the ratings below, the build quality on the inside is quite nice if that is what they are referring to. I love the leather and the interior doesn't look or feel "cheap". The moonroof does have a lot of "creaks and cracking" noise which adds to my dislike of this vehicle. Don't know about reliability yet since I only had it for 9 months. Thank goodness for the 5 year warranty should something break.

Hyundai Santa Fe

This car has the worst suspension of any car I have ever driven. My wife and I not only feel the bumps, but roll with them. I would never lease another Santa Fe even if the lease was free. A while back I tried to switch this Santa Fe for a lease on a Subaru Outback at this dealership, but was the object of a bait and switch scheme by a Subaru salesman. No way will I ever buy or lease from this dealership again. I can't wait till this lease is over so I can lease something that's enjoyable to drive.

Nice vehicle despite serious service issues. Great safety features and driver comfort features. We like the styling and interior. The Hyundai app is very useful, especially the remote start in a hot climate.

Fuel filler door fell off for no reason

Fuel filler door fell off for no reason and Hyundai will not cover it under the warranty. the car is less than 2 years old. There was NO reason for the fuel filler door to fall off, it is cheaply made. Other than that no other issues, so far.

Shop around before you buy a Hyundai

After owning my 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe SEL for a year now it has fallen short of almost all my expectations. For starters, the claim of 3 years of free maintenance I.e. oil changes and tire rotations is a joke. At maximum the most you will get 3 oil changes and 3 tire rotations. What Hyundai and the typical dishonest car sales person doesn’t disclose is that in the fine print it states the free maintenance is at the manufacturer’s time table. According to the manufacturers maintenance cycle is to change the oil and do the tire rotation every 6000 miles or 12 months which ever comes first. I’ve only got 4500 miles on my suv so I’m not eligible until now (one year from my purchase) for the “free maintenance” so I will max out a 3 oil changes and 3 tire rotations and as long as that is what the manufacturer recommends I’m fine with that, my only problem is that it seems a bit misleading when you advertise 3 years of free maintenance. I’m older and I remember when manufacturers suggested changing your oil and tire rotations every 5 to 6 months or 3000 to 4500 miles so I take issue advertising 3 free years of maintenance. In addition to that the fine print also states that if you use your vehicle excessively that Hyundai does not have to honor the “3 free year of maintenance” so that’s an issue for me. How ever it doesn’t end there. I bought this car with a factory installed remote car starter only to come to find out that after the free trial period if I want to use the remote start feature on my car I have to pay $18.99 not including tax and surcharges per month to use the factory installed remote start function on my Hyundai, that’s an additional $227.88 per year or and additional $2,278.80 if you keep your Hyundai for the length of its 10 year power train warranty. After a full year later I feel I’ve over paid for a subpar vehicle I honestly feel I should have shelled out a few more thousand dollars for a Honda, Toyota or Subaru as I have owned them in the past and was always happy with the the long term quality of them. I cannot say that about this vehicle. So shop around and think long and hard about what you’re saving in the beginning may cost may cost you in the long run.

Major engine problem

Three times in shop in less than a month for same major engine problems. Codes show and still they can't seem to get it fixed. I loved my 2020 Want Fe limited when we bought it. All the "bells and whistles". Drove and rode great. Very comfy. Very disappointed with this major a problem with only 10,000 miles on it. Quite discusted with it.
