Betrayal

The vehicle betrayed us in the worst possible way a machine can betray a human being. It was so good to us to the moment it wouldn't start again. People told us that it will get better, but it didn't. We had to get a replacement while our Hyundai was in your hands. You couldn't fix it, so we got another vehicle. We love it now and cherish it. But we can not forgive you for the hopes and dreams you destroyed with being false with us. I am so sorry to inform you that we are not buying a Hyundai again. Ever.

Lots of issue with hybrid system

I own this car for about 2 years now, bought it brand new. When you drive it in eco mode, the car doesnt have the horsepower to move but it will have speed if driven in sport mode. However, the mpg will not be so great. I couldn't start the engine around 36k. The hybrid alarm came on. I took it to the dealer and it was some electrical issue. At 60k the water pump fail. Good thing it was still under warranty. Also, 1 recall on the start/ stop button. I don't know what other issue will arise at around 100k.

2016 Sonata Failure

I'm very disappointed in the maintenance record of my Sonata Hybrid. There have been 3 major Hybrid related issues in the last 6 months, all rendering the car undrivable. I'm afraid to drive it far from home, for fear of getting stuck.

never buy hyundai

lots breakdown not reliable car at all special the hybrid models i must spent lots money to fix this car just in three years and the computer systems on the hyundai is even crazier this week when my antifreeze was low it show hybrid battery sign wich is scary

Hybrid system

I do not reccomend the Hybrid. If you put a lot of miles on a car you take a chance on warranty expiring. The 2016 sonata hybrid got problems with the hybrid system. The system also took the battery out which is also on a warranty basis and is prorated.

Repairs expensive

I've had the transmission, spark plugs, power relay and battery replaced on 2016 car. Not impressed with costs and need for repairs. A car like this should not need such extreme replacements so soon. It is upsetting.

Unreliable

Hyundai has deteriorated in the last few years. Their electronics and engine keeps failing and many recurring issues. The bumper to bumper is only 60k warranty and many issues happen after the warranty. Power train warrenty does not cover many of the critical issues and one should not be fooled when they say 100k warrenty as that's only for power train where most cars will not have an issue with these days anyway. The electronics is the issue these days with Hyundai and that's outside of the power train. This will be my last Hyundai.

brought brand new consumer report stated better than even the toyota camry hybrid. Only second to honda hybrid which gets 50 mpg but just as reliable

this vehicle looks great and drives great has great technical features handless calling with a lot of controls on the steering wheel

2016 Sonata Hybrid

I've only had the car for 1 year and it's been in the shop of most of that year. So far I've had the axle, hub bearing and backing plate replaced. Now the noise that i'm continuing to hear is considered "normal" and the sound is coming from "HPU Cycling", which makes absolutely no sense, because when I test drove the car and drove it off the lot, I didn't hear any sounds. At this point I really DO NOT WANT THIS CAR! This is my 2nd vehicle with Hyundai, and this is unacceptable.

2016 Sonata Hybrid

I have only owned this car for 3 months and have under 3000 miles on it so these are my early opinions. The Hybrid battery failed and had to be changed already (so I gave it a 5). I have not seen anywhere near the advertised MPG, this may be due to the cold winter temps so I'll have to wait until summer and see if it improves to the advertised MPG or not. It is an SE model so not a lot of options(features) on it but, is well equipped for base.

Could be better

Car has potential but four key factors reason for low score. Needs better braking system, better quality radio sound system, better lights for rainy weather, and last not as fuel efficient as claimed.

Same ol stuff

The mechanical seat(s) are hard to use especially when driving. The clock, I have to hunt for it - it is in the wrong place. Should be higher on dash. The car has excessive road noise. Needs to be quietened by sound insulation, especially for what I paid for it. The passenger side door will not catch and stays opened then , it will close on your leg while getting in/out of car. Not a happy camper.

Help!

Like gas mileage but bumpers too low and wiring way too vulnerable to rodent damage. Not under warranty for this kind of damage, Too expensive to fix. My service dealer's solution for the future was to put mothballs in my engine. Mothballs are a poison and you can smell them in the passager cabin!!!

A wonderful car with a glaring, costly flaw.

I love everything about the Sonata but one thing. I hit a high curb and tore out the bumper lining—$7,000 to fix it. Then it happened again. I have been driving for 32 years and this is the ninth car I have owned, and never had such a problem. It is the only Hybrid on the market that is worth buying, imho. But I wonder if anyone else has had this trouble?

Great car but has issues

So my car is awesome...sometimes. I am a pilot so i love plenty of electronics and got this car with every bell and whistle i could. It is a joy to drive, very quiet, good sound system, the automatic cruise control will slow me down to the speed of the car in front of me, and even stop the car if they slam on their break....ive become very spoiled. That said, I am currently on the 3rd transmission in this car since i bought it in june of 2016. Since ive had it, ive lost two transmissions, an oil pump, and had to get the rear wheels aligned! (i've never had to do that on any car before). Apparently the air filter t the passenger area gets dirty much faster than those on other cars, because every time ive gone in, it was recommended that i buy a new one. last negative...it doesnt come with a spare. I drive alot and that is unacceptable to me, but unfortunately now that i have one, i have a very small amount of trunk space left. So yes, while i do love the car, next time I may go back to Nissan...very dependable cars with LARGE trunks. :) Note: on the ratings below ive had to give it a 6 since it has been in the show a total of 3 months since i bought it.

Not as well made as the Kias I have owned

Have "limited" model with sunroof. Car is barely 2 years old but the sunroof creeks like an old bus. Dealer says not under warranty. It has needed several warranty repairs while I have had 3 Kias with no problems. Sometimes the computer reboots for no apparent reason while driving. Don't know why we can't set it to turn on in "normal" mode, not eco. Otherwise pretty nice car.

Losing faith in Hyundai

I purchased a Hyundai because of the reliability and warranty, but having owned it for 18 months and having it in for repair 3 times I am reconsidering my thoughts. How does a catalytic converter go bad in 20,000 miles? I am not giving up just yet as they have been great at fixing everything under the warranty. Hopefully all the problems are all worked out now as I love the car.

Sonata Hybrid

Overall, I can’t wait to rid myself of this car in 2 years. It’s geeat in gas but the quality is not worth the cost. It stalls from time to time and shuts off when powering on with the push start. Looks nice but the interior is hard to clean.
