Engine light

Engine light went on grill flaps got stuck open gas mileage has decreased only have 14k on it and it's a hybrid maybe not a good feature for this car hopefully other hybrids aren't built this way something to think about

poor fuel mileage, other issues

Fuel mileage when new was 52-53 mpg now after 9.6K it's down to 47-48. Twice the air flap system has malfunctioned within the 1st year. Transmission hesitation when accelerating. At less than 10K miles there are rattles inside the vehicle already.

Bad reliability

I bought the sonata hybrid for the dealer services, extended warranties, and for the reliability/piece of mind. My concern was what would happen after 50,000+ miles, and I found out all the dealer services are terrible, warranties do not cover real problems, and that no one really cares. The dealership happily tells us they have no idea when it will be done, over a leaking coolant hose, now it’s the exhaust heat exchanger replacement. Bad business all around, 41 days and counting.

Was a nice enough car...while it ran

Had the heater fail in winter with less than 25k miles. Problem ended up being the EGR cooler. Dealer has had the car for 3 months with no ETA on the replacement part. I question this car's reliability on making any long distance traveling.

Not so happy

This is my first and last hyundai car ,noise coming when getting of and on driveway not so happy gear shifting not smooth engine noise over 70mph,paint also chipping from bumpers.also deals hip not quiet pleasant, service adviser rude.

Intermittent check-engine light unresolved.

Great car, except for intermittent check-engine light and auto reset. Electric motor control is not functioning properly. Check engine warning recommended to take the vehicle to. Hyundai service dept for evaluation. I did that, but they would not check the car without an appointment. So, I did schedule an appointment, and by then the check-engine light had auto reset and car was operating properly. Frustrating experience.

2021 Sonata hybrid heater problem

I bought a 2021 Sonata hybrid new and loved the car until a problem occurred with the heater. No heat in January. Part went on back order and I'm still waiting. Very disappointed with Hyundai. I see new Tucson's and Sonata's coming into the dealer so part availability is not the problem. They provided a rental car which has cost Hyundai over $5000.00 to date. When does customer service and economic sense kick in with Hyundai.

Good looking car very nice feature but I don't like their transmission it like have some kind hesitation when car shift gears im not comfortable drive this car may be ill go and replace this car or refunded my money

Smooth ride for most part

I notice when I slow down below 10 mph, or driving up a hill, or taking a turn, sometimes the vehicle stalls and stutters and its difficult to accelerate leaving me feeling vulnerable if a car was speeding around the corner or something of that nature.

No after purchase service

Blue link access with Android phone does not work. No assistance from dealership or from blue link. Annoying Rattle over 40 mph. Great mpg drives great shame about no customer service. Spent hours on the phone plenty of promises but no action.

CarPlay doesn’t work effectively

The wireless CarPlay shuts off continuously while driving. The ride is smooth and there is minimal road noise. Also, the fuel economy is great for how spacious the car is. The sound quality is great, and heated seats are a plus. All of the safety features are awesome for your cost.

2021 Hyundai Sonata review

The new 2021 Sonata is very sporty and turbo engine has great power especially in sport mode. Panoramic roof is great feature. Very spacious interior room important for me as a big guy at 6’4” 250 lbs. very roomy. Wish it had more room for spare change and sunglasses. No steering wheel heater in my model and no fuel filler door lock is disappointing. Manual paddle shift is very fun to drive but new design is frustrating as it continuously auto s changes back to auto shift mode. Driver should get to choose. Overall very satisfied and would highly recommend this vehicle. Biggest disappointment with my experience was dealing with Hyundai Finance division. Their customer service and support is HORRENDOUS and is a sore point in an otherwise superior buying experience.

Great overall

Got the Hybrid. Fuel mileage incredible! Comfort, plenty of power, safe and fun to drive. The comfort options quickly have us spoiled. Just needs place to put my sunglasses and rear seat cup holders.

Hybrid Sonata 2021

The Sonata looks smart and handles well with the exception of when you don't completely stop--you can expect hesitation upon acceleration. Heating system isn't made for very cold weather (unless you are goes a long distance) but heated steering wheel and heated seats makes it more comfortable--only feet suffer.The cameras make it easy to park even if you don't have "self parking" feature on the car.

Gets most things very right, but manages to get a few things stupidly wrong

This is the 1st Hyundai in our family. Styling looks great outside & inside. 46+ MPG is excellent, except during very cold weather due to the need for cabin & seat heating. However, this car does let me down in driver's seat comfort, inadequate center console storage, and Lane Centering Assist.

Good for the price

A efficient, pleasant to drive sedan. Exceptional exterior styling, but I personally don’t care for the two tone interior. Quick 0-30 in sports mode and pretty efficient in eco but the transmission isn’t always the smoothest in either mode. The safety feature range from surprisingly useful (top down view) to obnoxious (automatic parking break, proximity alert in a drive-thru.) My biggest praise for it is I’m surprised I go all this for ~$35k. My biggest complaint is it has developed two rattles in the cabin after only two days of owning it that are being troublesome to isolate and fix.

Things that need to be updated or changed

The car over all isn't too bad. Simple things here and there need to be changed. The App to start and unlock the car is CRAP! The dealership can't even work it! Plus they want you to pay for it after a short time! there are lights on the door, but do not light up when getting in and out of the car. Would help out a bunch at night. Has this stupid wasted button and all for it to play sleep sounds or whatever. No one cares for it! the Auto cruise control has strengths and weaknesses. Strength is that it can go down to zero, sit and then move when traffic does. Weakness is a few. I will set the cruise at say 70mph while going 70mph. It always will drop down to something like 64mph and then slowly get back up to 68 to 70mph with no traffic in front of the car. it idols high when trying to catch back up burning more gas by doing so. It took a little getting used to the cruise also. I had a Mazda before this and it was much smother than the 2021 vehicle I have now. the heads up display has auto changed back to factory default 3 times now and I can't figure out why. So I have to go back into all the settings and fix it. the buttons for the air and seat warm/cool needs to be changed and easier to deal with. Auto starting the car should pick up where the car was turned off at along with the heated or cooled seats!!! instead it sets the air to like 72 degrees and on the lowest setting! How in the hell is this supposed to warm or cool the car?! It defeats the purpose of an auto start to prep the car for the weather outside! It burns through gas more so than expected. Even with the eco setting on and not having a lead foot. wish the back seats were heated, especially being that I bought the top of the line one and it isn't there. The trunk has no real place to gab it and close it. I usually use one of the letters mounted on the back of the trunk to get a grip.

two missing items

Love,love my new sonata. I am dissapointed that the passenger seat does not have a button to raise the seat. This seat is very low and I have to put a cushion on the seat to raise it when I am not driving. Very unexpected for a top of the line Sonata Limited.. Another thing missing is the tab to pull the console down in the back seat. Not good for women nails and a no no in my book. And if I had my way there would be an automatic rear shade for the back window. Had one in my Azera but cannot buy an Azera in this country which is why I purchased the Top of the line Sonata.

My 2021 Hyundai

This is my 3rd Hyundai. It's a good driving car. Handling is great. Good on gas. Very roomy in the front and back seats. Love the new body style. Very sporty looking. Would recommend this car very highly to anyone.
