Sonata Plug-In Hybrid is Amazing

This is the best vehicle purchase I have made in my entire life and I have bought a lot of cars. I commute to work 52 miles each way plus client visits. I have a 220v charging station at work so I use almost no gas. My tank lasts about 3 weeks. HOV lane access everywhere is just icing on the cake. The technology inside and out on this vehicle is top of the line. This is my first Hyundai vehicle and I am extremely pleased.

Great value - Tax incentives

I love that I can drive for 27 miles on the battery before switching to the hybrid motor. Most of my travels are within the 27 mile range so I only fill my gas tank once a month!! The car handles beautifully, and I am please with all the safety features.

2016 Sonata Plug In Review

This car is very good for those wanting to save on gas money. The most mileage I have recorded off one tank of gas is almost 1600 miles. As of this posting, I am at 1400miles and have just about a 1/4 tank of gas left. The car is stylish, and has a lot of bells and whistles. I would recommend to a friend.

The next generation

I really love my car, because of its comfort levels, high tech capability, great mileage, and incentives. The car is really quiet.. so quiet that you will hear outside noise, which you have not notice with a gasoline car.

SONATA PLUG IN

This is a great car; comfortable, quiet, with excellent safety features (on the limited model) and great gas milage. We have solar panels on our house, so there is no added cost to recharge the lithium battery. We have been getting 33-37 miles on a full charge and averaging about 270 mpg. The only upgrade I would suggest Hyundai undertake is to include a 220 plug on every vehicle. This would significantly reduce time required to charge the battery and further increase fuel efficiency. As concern over climate change grows, being known as a company that takes its commitment to reducing greenhouse gases seriously will prove very beneficial.

Very nice vehicle and a good value

I had a busy window tinter in SF tint my rear windows and he sees all kinds of cars all the time and he said "Wow I never knew the Sonata was so nice inside." I have a limited edition and it is very comfortable and nicely appointed. The car rides smoothly and quietly and the seats are very good. I very much like the exterior styling as well. The major complaint is that it literally takes between one and two full seconds for the engine to respond with acceleration if you have to floor it in a situation that requires a quick move, so you almost have to press the accelerator pedal before you actually want to move out. In normal situations the car responds just fine, this is only in situations requiring max thrust. And the engine sound is clattery. Otherwise I have no other real complaints and just high praises for the style and comfort and drivability of this car.

Almost turns a luxury into an investment

After the government incentives and the fuel savings this car is about as close as you can get to considering a new vehicle an investment in financial terms. It's comfortable, stylish and saves me tons of money at the pump. If you have solar I highly recommend looking at a plug in hybrid.

Love my Sonata PEH

I'm sooo happy with my new Sonata Plug in Hybrid. It feels extremely luxurious, and I'm able to get 30-38 miles on a charge easily. The smoothness of electric and hybrid function is effortless. Love the lumbar support on drivers seat. Love the heated/cooled seats and heated steering wheel. Love the features that cut back on wasted energy (e.g. driver only ventilation, econ on ventilation, econ on engine). Only complaints is that I wish it came with Apple Car Play. Also, can't believe the lifetime warranty on battery and excellent overall warranty. This vehicle really should be flying off the lot.

Very satisfied with driving comfort, fuel economy, electric driving range. A few minor suggestions: (1) allow for electric front window defrost heating to avoid using the car engine while in the EV driving mode, and (2) improve the GPS system so that it helps with the input of city and street addresses by guessing the city or street name options after the first few letters have been put into the system.

Hyundai Sonata Plug In Hybrid Limited

Great vehicle! Perfect replacement for my Passat TDI being bought back by VW. It does everything that car did and way more. It is comfortable, spacious and it is fun playing around with what mode (EV or hybrid) makes the most sense on your given drive. I routinely get more than the 25-27 stated miles on electric alone. These are a great deal with the money Hyundai and the dealers throws at you to buy. On top of that, look for other special discounts you might be able to qualify for along with the Federal tax credit and state credit (if your state does this). Made my $38.7k MSRP drop to $24k purchase price, awesome! I would have to nit-pick to say anything even close to bad about this car and I have owned it for nearly 3 months/4k+ miles. Compared to the hybrid/plug in competitors as of Fall 2016, this is the best choice. I tried them all from the Fusion, Malibu (2nd place), etc. Plenty of space for a 6'5" driver and passengers, not easy to do in every "mid-saize" car.

great car with a few nitpicks

The plug in is great! Love the summer time with this car! We were getting consistently over 1200 miles per tank full thanks to our driving habits and the plug in system. problem is, when winter comes, the only way to generate heat is for the engine to run, even in EV mode.. so we get more like 600 miles, maybe.. Regarding other issues: The navigation system is a bit annoying, and not very intuitive. I have seen implementations of navigation that autofilled addresses to reduce how much you need to enter based on database searching, etc. this does not seem to exist here. also, the reach to the display is far, and since there is no other way to control the interface (such as a wheel controller, etc), you have to lean forward and touch the screen or push buttons. I bit annoying and difficult while driving. Regarding blue link: great idea, especially looked forward to the remote start portion. except for the fact that remote start will NOT work for this plug in if it is PLUGGED IN!? ok, no real answer on this one yet, disappointed. and removed bluelink subscription. what's the point? you have to now go outside, in the cold, unlock the car, unplug the cable, then, remote start.. a bit backwards I'd say. otherwise, great car, not sure if many of these issues above can be rectified. hoping for a remote start "fix".
