2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited

This has been the best car we have ever owned. We also own a BMW but when we travel we take my car as it is so much more comfortable. It gets great gas mileage (32 city/38 hwy), is comfortable on long rides and our overall satisfaction has been amazing. Also the Ray Skillman Southside (Indianapolis) location has such an amazing service department, we will buy again and again from them. Only complaint is that the passenger seat is not electric and sits too far down.

Warning!! Do not purchase any Hyundai!! Nothing but problems!!

The Sonata is a very nice looking car that is well equipped. Also drives pretty nice when functioning properly. However that is few and far between!! I bought the car for my wife to drive. We have had nothing but problems. Some of the problems are minor, but most are major. The vehicles are over priced for how cheaply they are made. I would not recommend buying one at all. The reason they have such a good warranty is because the manufacturer knows how much they are going to break. Defiantly a huge disappointment, this was the newest, nicest looking vehicle my wife has ever had. Know she would take her 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier back in a second, due to how unreliable this car has been.

My 2011 Sonata is a LEMON!

Nothing but issues from mile 12,000 and on. Goes to the dealer every year for something big to be replaced or fixed. Starter went out, oil pan has leaked TWICE, coupling joint replaced, rack and pinion replaced, 4th set of front tires (with 54000 miles), strut replaced, had the shifter fixed when I had to manually override the shifter because my car wouldn't move out of Park. Just a headache.

This car is always Broken

We have had this vehicle for less than a year. It's been towed to the dealer 7 times!!!!!!!!!! Seriously 7 times!!!! Thank god I wasn't paying for the tows but it's way too excessive. There was a blown radiator(no explanation), got it back after a week...overheated on the way home. Towed to a different dealer. Fan connection was the culprit. Then we drove to get my chemo done and the car overheated again. I was luckily very close to the hospital but the car still needed to be towed back to the dealer who fixed the radiator. Now let's talk about the darn recalls it's had. One for the engine(scary)!!! One for a brake pedal issue. Well I've been really sick and was unable to gerbil in for the brake issue. Sure enough the car started slowing down randomly and down shifting with no warning. I scheduled an appointment only to wake up and find the tail lights had been on all night and the battery was dead. I was so mad. It was towed to dealer. Def the recalled part giving the issue. Had it back for about 3 days now. So far it's ok. There were other stops at the dealer for running hot but it would take me forever to type all that. It drives great. Very sporty car. We get compliments constantly. That is till they get close and see how scratched up the paint is all over.

Worst car ever

If you get a 2011 sonata make sure you have warranty. You will always be at the dealership every 3 months.

blown engine

my car had 39,000 miles and motor blew...they sent a new motor two months later that was junk brand new! 3 months after that 2nd motor arrives that was good thank god!

General over all rating

Since I have purchased this care in 2010 I have had it to the garage several different times for several different reasons. Some of the biggest. It required a new transmission at around 10000 miles. Had it to the garage several times before I could get that taken care of. This had nothing to do with the service provider they are great. Then they replaced that and it still shifts hard at times. But I tolerate it. Then most recently there was a recall on the engine and the engine needed replaced. Took a month for that to occur. Then I had it home for maybe 24 hours and the check engine light came on again so back to the garage I went and it will now be there for two more days. So I am once again down a vehicle. I will never purchase another Hyundai. Maybe I got the bad car of the bunch but there are way to many recalls and it is a inconvenience to have to travel constantly to have my car fixed. I have always kept up on the Maintenance and checks. I will not get rid of my car because I do love it and I have never had a problem with getting the car serviced. But I just think this car is very problematic. Thanks for listening.

is this a lemon or was sold under false pretense

When i got this car in December of 2012 it had a little over 2000 miles. I have never dealt with a car that had so many recalls, so many lamp issues and so many break and head light issues. Now I am dealing with a car that also has a major steering wheel problem. It rattles when we drive it and click when we turn it. Never again will i buy a sonata. Passenger seat has to be maually moved.

Will never purchase a Hyundai again

This was my 1st and last time purchasing a Hyundai. I think this model was built too fast or something. I have had to repair so many things on my 2011 that I purchased new and so many recalls. The engine failed and the starter also. Poorly made car.

Coil spring fails with no recall

Last May we broke a front coil spring which blew a tire and we had to wait more than a week for a replacement coil spring for repairs. When I asked the dealer if there was a recall on this I was told there was no recall for my vehicle. Our Sonata has less than 55,000 miles on it. Since then we have had to engine lights come on and we have spent over $600 on two emission parts that have failed. Again no recall. Also since then I have found that there was in fact a recall on coil springs for Elantra and Sonatas in the northeast. We are in Maine why haven't our Sonata been recalled? I have tried to contact Hyundai Company by email and phone with no success. Fine customer service. The dealer has agreed to replace our other coil spring at no cost because we know for a fact that that spring is going to fail this winter. I am requesting form the Hundai Company a refund for the cost of replacing the first failed coil spring and tire. That refund amounts to $550.00. I can be reached at 207-632-0401

Numerous problems since purchase

I will never purchase another Hyundia. You Cooporation has terrible customer service. Not the dealership I purchased this car from but the corporation.

My 2011 Sonata

The design is beautiful. The handling of the car is not good at all. It seems as if I fight the steering constantly and there is nothing wrong with my alignment per the dealership. The steering wheel also seems to have a smaller grip than previous cars I have owned. I am very disappointed with the craftsmanship of the interior of the car. I have owned several cars and I have not ever had a fog light burn out by 60K miles (not covered in my initial bumper to bumper warranty either), nor have I ever had the steering wheel inserts peel apart (which was covered with my warranty) and now the A/C off button is peeling. I take excellent care of my car, I hand wash it myself and detail it myself using nothing but a damp towel, however, the interior is still peeling. (another first for me). I had my windows tinted recently by the dealership and now my XM radio fades in and out constantly (I assume due to bad reception from the tint) and I did not have that issue prior to getting the windows tinted. I was not advised by the dealership this might be a factor when I had the tint installed. The hands free option is terrible. It is hard for others to hear me when in use as well as the system does not recognize the commands 90% of the time so I have to dial the number verses using the voice command options. I purchased the limited option package and I do not feel this car has lived up to the expectations I had for Hyundai. This is not the first Hyundai I have owned which is why I am disappointed. I would not purchase another Sonata and I am skeptical on purchasing another Hyundai.

Recalls

I've owed 3 hyundai 's and this has been the worst. I've had at least 5 or more. I would not purchase another it was bought brand new off the show room floor. I've never been so unhappy with a vehicle.

I'm 58 years old & it's the worst vehicle I've had in my life!! 14 recalls coil spring broke engine blew up (they did replace it). Love the looks of the car but enough is enough!!

This is a nice car but sadly a lemon. Engine has been replaced and problems with new engine that were not compensated in engine lawsuit

2011 Hyundai Sonata

Very nice looking car with many features. The engine and all of the other problems with this vehicle are more than I have ever experienced with any other car we have owned. This car has had the engine replaced at 35,000 miles and has been towed 3 times. The roadside assistance program through Hyundai is excellent, however I am not thrilled that my daughter at college has had to deal with so many problems with us thinking this would be a good car for her. The warranty has covered quite a bit, but of course we are out of the 60,000 mile power train warranty and have to replace the axle. I have owned cars with over 150,000 miles and never had to replace an axle.
