Nice car, but the jury is still out

I decided to purchase a 2018 Sonata SE based off of its warranty, dependability/reliability rating, safety features and at the time I had not heard anything negative about Hyundai vehicles. Fast Forward 5 months and I have to say that I do not think that I would make the same purchase. Perhaps the V6 engine would feel better/ sound better to me than the 4 cylinder version. The car looks great inside and out, the interior is roomy and the safety features are good. My issues are with the noise of the engine while driving, the lack of power in the engine, the fact that my starter went out on my Sonata after only 5 months, and all of the online issues associated with engine failures with Hyundai Vehicles due to possibly a quality control issue or just plain negligence by the manufacturer. Perhaps my mind will change over time so long as I do not have any other issues anytime soon but for now this is not a great first impression.

Looks great but doesn’t wear well

I bought a Sonata thinking I was getting a good deal. I ended up spending more than I realized and had payments that were higher than I wanted. But I thought it would be worth it in the long run because it had a great warranty. However, after driving it 10,000 miles, it doesn’t idle well, and sometimes shifts awkwardly. This concerns me for the future! It is a nice vehicle and has great features. But looking back, for the price I paid, I could have gotten better and less fear for what may come even just a short time from now.

Sonata

It’s a nice car. It’s slower than my 2012 sonata but that was a sport. I like the front end but the back end is very boring. I like the keyless trunk. I have a 2018 but have to start the engine with a key. My old 2012 was push to start! Nothing fancy for 20k. I will be trading this in at another dealership bc Hyundai has dropped the ball on this one

Decent transportation... Brand does not hold value paying 30K for the vehicle less then a year later your vehicle is worth 16,000 dollars with less then 10,000 miles, Always get what the sales person promises in writing.

Need to fix some issues in the vehicle

The vehicle needs to be fixed in some issues such as on accelerating it get shaking, gas tank has a problem, the software of Apple car has issues, passenger seat belt not beep when it should do. The socket also has a problem in the fuses

Design missed the mark.

The car lack thought when it comes to convenience and comfort for the driver. Cup holders in console are to large. Small cups and bottle are not hold in place and thus there are spills. The heated seats don't have the option of warming when the car is started remotely in the winter. There needs to be more small compartment for various storage. The only available compartments in the car are one for sunglasses; center console and glove box out of the reach of the driver when moving.

Sonata 2018

After 7 month I have a problem with the car it was starter for brand new car it was unacceptable and I went back to the Dealer at College Park Hyundai located in Sylver spring. They thought that it was the battery for the first time but it wasn’t the case hey gave me a rental car for a week and a half it was so embarrassing because I lost three days of work because of that but finally they fixed it and get me my car back. Hope that it will never happen again because it’s a brand new car and the starter shouldn’t have a problem.

General vehicle

Take it or leave it vehicle. Gets you want to go. Didn't purchase basic vehicle but feels it. Sorry I traded in my last vehicle which was a hyunda tuson which I do recommend with the turbo. Highly recommended test drive. I purchased after having driven loaner car while work on tuson loaner car drove better same car different color lol

2018 Sonata

The 2018 Sonata SE 2.4 L is a good dependable car. However, I would purchase this vehicle with a bigger motor. It is somewhat sluggish on hills and passing cars. The fuel mileage with the 2.4 is better than anticipated being a larger car, getting around 32mpg in the city and 37mpg highway.

2018 Sonata - my opinion only

My 2018 Sonata is disappointing in overall performance, poor media communication - trouble receiving messages or responding; Makes random phone calls to random people in the contacts. Awkward control locations.

Options missing

The 2016 had options this 2018 is missing the curve ahead warning trunk pull louder warning sensors and much better tires shiny chrome all the things that made the car great. The gas mileage is kind of lousy as well. The Sonata remains to be the best car for the money just wish they would have kept the things they took away since 2016.

Not My Fav

I can't say that this is the best car I've ever had. It drives ok but to be a turbo, it doesn't have much power. There is also this annoying noise when you accelerate... like a flapping noise. I guess it's normal for this type of car. The front of the car looks great but the rest is quite simple. I wish the passenger side had power seats as well. Great sound system! The test drive was great but the every day drive... Lets just say the thrill died quick. Lastly, I needed a battery replacement after just 1 year and 5 months... umm no.

My sonata

The vehicle is very nicely organized. We did notice that the mileage went down considerably after the 7500 mile checkup. No one seems to be able to explain this .we still would like someone to explain some of the features. The dealer promised that twice and it never happened

I love my Sonata

The Sonata is a very nice car to drive and is easy to drive and handle. It is a very familt friendly car. I would like for the driver side to be a little bigger. All in all it is a very beautiful car in and out.

Transmission issues

I have had issues since I've purchased the vehicle. But the manufactures have not given the dealership permission to fix. I have contacted the dealership on several occasions but the service manager states that there has not been a approval as of yet.

Misleading

I think my Sonata is a great car. My only problem is the dashboard has all the buttons for a CD player but, not CD slot. If I had known I wouldn"t have bought the car. If you are not going to put a CD player in the car don't leave the buttons.

2018 Sonata Sport Plus

Good reliable and efficient vehicle. Could be tighter in the steering and turning corners. Feels lighter and doesn’t sit down firmly on the road like the 2017 version. Looks very good but doesn’t feel as solid as the 2017 version. More bells & whistles but less substance.

Sonata SE not the best deal

Top rated safety, great warranty. It's a comfortable drive. The trunk is large and rear seats fold down for additional trunk space. Info-tainment leaves a lot to be desired, no compass, no pockets on back of seats. What is the reason for all this cutback. I payed good money for this car only to be cheated out of basic amenities.

Satisfied

I’m a little disappointed at the poor gas mileage that my Sonata gets. I enjoy the roomy interior and other comforts. Please do not force people to use up to two hundred characters. It is very annoying and makes me not want to fill these things out.
