Many good points, but also some strong negatives

I am presently frustrated that Hyundai has not recalled and offered replacement of the faulty Internal Thermal Management Module. This requires a very expensive replacement, and there are many reports of repeated failures. I have requested prior approvals and goodwill assistance with this matter, and have been rejected. Meanwhile, every person I speak to at Hyundai acknowledges that this is a high fail part. I have opened a BBB complaint on the matter. Otherwise, I enjoy driving the car. I find the overall cost of ownership and operation expensive. Now that major components are beginning to fail, the costs may outweigh the benefit. In short, the jury is still out regarding my feelings regarding this car.

No wireless CarPlay a big miss

That plus everything being USB-A makes the car feel outdated. Also small issues like foam coming out of windshield … lower quality car.

Accelerator not comfortable, you can feel the sound and struggle

Tucson hybrid is good vehicle but. Its did save me in accident, but when i press the accelerator, i can feel the vehicle really trying hard, but you can hear only the sound. Its takes a while for it to pickup from initial state.

Nice - Issues

I loved the vehicle when I purchased it. It rides well, the road noise is minimal and overall, a decent vehicle. However, I have had multiple issues with this vehicle. Hyundai has fixed all of them, but things keep coming up.

A good car, but doesn't deliver on all the promises

I purchased this car with the recommendation that it could handle the tough South Dakota winters when our temperatures can reach -60f and the snow can get deep. My first winter with the car ended in a snow bank stuck for 3 hours. While the amenities of the car are comfortable, such as the bluelink, heated seats, wireless charging station, et cetera... The parts that really matter are oversold. At the time of purchase the Highway MPG was stated to be 35-40mpg. Now, it is stated to be around what it really is: 25-29mpg. Not only that, but the car does NOT come with a spare tire, full or temporary, and none was provided by the dealer.

Needs better paint quality on exterior finish!!!

I do not believe there is a strong paint finish on this car. I had a Honda CRV for 10 years before I purchased this car. It had very minimal chips in the front end after 10 years. I have had this Hyundai car for 2 yrs now and it has WAY too many chips on the front end. I am not happy for this reason. I even took it to a body shop to get a quote to repair, but have not pulled the plug yet. Ridiculous!!

Defects of my Tucson

I have 3 main issues with my Tucson, 2 of which are very impactful. First, I, like many I have read about, have a clear and never ending rattle sound from the engine whenever going up even the slightest incline that continues throughout the drive unless you start going downhill. I've pointed it out twice at checkups at 2 different dealerships and of course was given the classic response - "we don't hear it." A pretty bold lie. Second, the air conditioner is terrible. It simply is unable to get very cold. I've compared it to friends' cars (Audi, Tesla, Toyota) and it doesn't come close. Again, I've pointed it out to the dealer and they dismissed my complaint, saying it meets "standards" whatever that means. In Southern California, it's very rough in the summer to drive the car. Thirdly, on occasion the Carplay doesn't connect to my phone. And it's not my phone as each time it failed, I tried it on my husband's car and it worked fine. Bottom line, I love the way it looks and it's a decent drive. But it has issues and the 2 different dealerships I've been to for checkups dismissed my complaints out of hand in a very perfunctory way. So sadly I'm not in love with my car and wish I had bought a Toyota.

Not the quality I expected for a brand new 42k vehicle

I've request over and over for Hyundai service to find the noise in front of my steering wheel. It's only apparent at higher speeds or when very windy out. The quick little test drive they take doesn't make the sound obvious. They haven't used any better listening devices, etc. The sound drives me bonkers when I'm on the highway.. ALL THE TIME. The windshield was installed wrong and had to be corrected. My back trunk/gate rattles around like there's screws loose in it.. they made some kind of repair once but the rattling came back. The plastic buttons on the dash have bubbles in them. The car is certainly not quality and the warranty is useless. They have threatened me that they cannot take the dash apart to find the rattling noise because if they can't find it, they'll charge me for the cost of their labor.. That's what a 3k additional warranty gets you! Oh and last time I went for service, the guy offered to knock the price down on the cost of tire rotation if I paid him cash.. real nice.

somewhat disappointed

The first disappointment was the mileage. My feeling of being scammed by the company. The car has never gotten 36 miles to the gallon.....more like 32 to 34. Next was when I put some bags of potting soil in the back and the cardboard/particle board collapsed....can't put weight in the back.....a major problem for me. The car has great pickup but your mileage is affected. The gas tank is small so you have to stop for gas more frequently. I would not buy another one based on these issues.

Love the car except backing up

Because it’s a hybrid backing up beeping noise sounds like warehouse forklift. I have to apologize to neighbors for early morning departure from garage. The service center said they couldn’t mute the outrageously loud sound I would prefer a toned down sound.

Good car that does the job

Fairly satisfied with my purchase but few design choices needs to be improved. Reverse gear beeps are super annoying in quite neighborhood. You get some road noise on long drives which can be improved.

The vehicle comfort and ride are great - MPG not so much

Upon purchasing the vehicle, we immediately put 1500 highway miles on it - the most forgiving type of driving for evaluating MPG. We were getting 6-7 MPG less than advertised. When we then settled in to drive the car normally for work, that dropped to 8-9 MPG less. This is a significant difference from the advertisements. We drive on ECO, we accelerate slowly, we use the car computers whenever possible. There are times when the car has an almost full battery and still runs the gasoline engine for no discernible reason, and there are no controls to specificy modify this decision. We got a hybrid for the gas mileage, and then got a Hyundai for the warranty to help cover the requisite batteries. We would have more seriously entertained other brand' non-hybrid offerings s if we had realized how far off the MPG was from advertised, which would have precluded the need for a battery and subsequently negated the need for a Hyiundai warranty. Contacting the dealership and was given the "well, everyone drives differently" schtick.
