Excellent Vehicle Excluding Automatic Braking
This vehicle is excellent overall: comfort, features, quality, looks, good gas milage, phone integration, audio quality, and space. The price was okay in this higher trim, a somewhat better value propostion in the lower trims but we love the features of the Limited.
The glaring issue is the automatic emergency braking. On the highway, back roads, in parking lots or stop-and-go traffic, the car will occasionally misjudge a situation as dangerous (vehicle ahead slowing at an accelerating rate, vehicle crossing diagonally in front in parking lots, despite plenty of space and brake actuation) and promptly SLAM on the brakes. The stop is so sudden it frightens driver and all passengers, engages seat belt locks,and creates a very dangerous situation for the vehicle. By stopping so suddenly, there is a very high chance of being rear-ended. Additionally, the accelerator is disabled for at least 2 seconds, so you are stuck, stopped, often in a road. This appears to be limited to this year model, but an update needs to be made since it is very likely to cause an accident instead of preventing one. This is the only real issue with the vehicle, but a serious one.
