Want to like it

I have a 2014 Tucson that I drove for 10 years and put 130,000 miles on. I experienced zero issues with that car so I thought I'd try a new Tucson. I've owned it less than 3 months and have put less than 3,000 miles on it but I've already had to bring it into the shop multiples times. Build quality seems terrible.

I’m disappointed

The dashboard keeps crashing-can’t tell how fast I’m going-alerts keep going off intermittently and I’m told there is a pending recall but nothing I can do but wait at this time

Purchased 5 months ago and already in the shop twice

My last 2024 Tucson was declared a "lemon" by Hyundai, with so many issues, and I now regret getting another one. This 2025 I've had for 5 months has been back to the service department for different issues.

Overdesigned controls

The electronic controls are overdesigned and too complicated to use. A sensor comes on ( curve control or something)that says you cannot use your cruise control you have stop the car and restart it to use your cruise. The dash panel continually has problems bringing up the displays. The touch doesn’t work. You shouldn’t have to sign in every time to see the dash or listen to the radio.

Defective dashboard display and heads up display

Dashboard display and heads up display keeps going off and on. The dealer replaced the unit and it still keeps turning off an on. Sometimes the HUD will come back on but it's position has to be completely readujsted so I can see it.

Great concept , poor execution

Great looking SUV with a lots of features. Unfortunately most of those features don’t work correctly and are downright dangerous. Driver safety monitoring system doesn’t work correctly. Infotainment system menu is clunky and very hard to read, especially with sunlight shining in the car. This car is equipped with a camera built into the steering column that is supposed to be a safety feature. It is just the opposite. It is downright dangerous. It has almost caused me to be in 3 accidents in the last 2 months when traveling. It cannot see your face or eyes correctly when wearing glasses or sunglasses and it mistakes that for your eyes not looking forward. It applies the brakes and stops your vehicle in the middle of the highway if it thinks you’re not watching the road. I was looking directly forward with hands at 10 and 2 and it started flashing all sorts of warnings and applied the breaks in the middle of I4! I almost got rear ended 3 time in one trip. That camera needs to be disabled until Hyundai can fix the problem. A call to Hyundai does nothing. Hyundai dealership says Hyundai knows of the problem and has done nothing to try to fix it. I would not recommend this model car at all until Hyundai fixes this problem. It is UNSAFE!

Hyundai Tuscon Review

Message periodically pops up "Consider Taking a Break" which is distracting/hazardous and cannot be turned off. For a hybrid, gas mileage is poor (<30mpg) Phone charger does not work with my phone case and makes the phone extremely hot. Not sure if it is doing damage.

Navigation and map is crap

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson map is still crap. The traffic color lines (red, green, yellow) only rarely work. The 2016 Tucson had a better map. Technology is supposed to get better over time, not worse. I have complained too many times to count and the issue still has not been resolved.

Camera Spies on Driver; Makes Cruise Control Inoperable

Nice car unless you prefer to no not be monitored by a camera that will cause warnings to ding and flash and tell you to take a break or just turn off the cruise control because you’re wearing sunglasses.

Last decades’ technology meets broken parts

My 2019 Subaru crosstalk had more advanced driver assist technology and didn’t make an all out assault on the driving experience like this Hyundai Tucson. “Lane Assist” turns the car into a temperamental child bent on driving into the ditch. Add the constant alarms, beep, and “we are watching” aspect of their safety measures. But the real disappointment is that at 8000 miles and four visits to the dealer they still can’t resolve the uneven back cushion of the drivers seat (painful - seriously) nor the constant rattle from the drivers door/wheel area.

Defective Driver Attention Warning

Driver Attention Warning consistently gives false positive audible warning which cannot be disabled and which are a distraction from driving and annoying. Ridiculous reasons for dysfunction of the warning are cited in manual including the driver being too short, too tall, wearing certain glasses (which may be prescription glasses) and so many more.

nice car but has mechanical problems

It has a problem where the battery and fan will keep running after I turn off the car. I have brought it into the dealership but they were unable to help. Also one of the back sensors kept going out which lead to my car not alerting me about hazards.

Great Ride... when it wants to start

Was looking for a 4WD/AWD hybrid suv that still had some buttons to actually adjust things without having to use a screen for basics. The ride is smooth and quiet, features have been nice upgrade, and dealership/service has been great. However... When you go to get in the vehicle and it won't open and won't start ... Yeah becomes a deal breaker real fast. Taking it back in as 12-volt system is again bad; have to pop handle to get in with manual key, pop the hood and jump it if it sits for more than a few days - NOT ACCEPTABLE! I work from home and don't need to drive every day but I need a reliable vehicle and this is not it. Getting very good at jumping this vehicle though the "requirement" of having a jumper pack on hand for regular use of vehicle is not working for me. It's not like it gets driven, I'm averaging about 1350 miles a month just doesn't get driven every day. I should be able to let a vehicle sit in garage or someplace like airport for a few days without concerns that I can't drive it again (I'm in WI and ice coating makes getting to manual door lock is a pain).
