Very sporty hatchback

It is very sporty but without a turbo...it looses to a prius. Not enough Head and Leg room.

Nice car but cheap build

This car looks really nice and has great gas mileage. I liked having the infotainment unit come standard. Keyless entry and push button start are also great features. Unfortunatly the build quality of the in cabin accessories is really shoddy. The stereo and cruise controls on the stearing wheel no longer work. The fan control for the airconditioner cuts out every once in a while and I have to twist it back and forth to get the fan to come on. The touch screen on the infotainment unit doesnt always respond unless you press abnormally hard. The inside door handles are wrapped in a chrome looking sticker material and have developed air bubbles in them. I seem to also be going through batteries abnormally fast. One of them which I purchased through and had installed at the dealer died in a little over a year.

Under power and you have to modified

My car have about 118 hours which is stupid if your going to buy one get the turbo on it. The car also makes a chirping noise around 15-2k rpm so be careful of that and you can't do uber in your cause cause it only have 3 doors

Veloster Performance

I enjoy that you can get up to 35 miles per gallon. The over all look of the car is very sporty. Good trunk space for a compact vehicle. I don't like that it shifts so hard. It becomes very jerky at times when it's shifting. I have an automatic, but feels like a stick shift at times. The hatch becomes very noisy as it ages, because of the glass. It's not as quiet and smooth anymore. My paint is only 5 years old and it's already starting to peel. It's not a horrible car, but I'm a bit disappointed with the overall performance.

2012 Veloster review.

I purchased my 2012 Veloster from Terry Reid in Cartersville in 2013 with 27,000 miles. At 65,000 had to spend $5000.00 for a new motor. It was 5,000 miles out of warenty and they would offer no help. Also, have had a constant ongoing problem with headlights blowing regularly. Love the design of car but haven’t been very impressed and definately wasn’t impressed at all with Terry Reid. A lot of things they failed to tell me I feel was salesman’s job. Learning experience. Riverside has been great on service.

The car is low to the ground and fun to drive the transaxle makes it go from an automatic to a manual transmission in seconds which can cause a lot of smiles for the driver, great on gas has an economy mode and sport mode. There is a surprising amount of space in the vehicle the small 3rd door makes it easier for people to get in the back. The radio is great even without serious radio and all that paid stuff, plenty of power ports the back seats come down, the hatch is lighted and can store more than you would imagine, air conditioning is super cold and my tints came out perfect. The wheels are on nice alloy trims and there is no spare tires so be careful and try to keep a donut handy. The car is perfect for short runs or long hauls. She wants to be a sports car but isn't but still can maneuver well on the highway to avoid other people. I don't like the plastic clips holding the bumpers in place as they can easily be knocked off with a bad road. I rate the car a 9 out of ten and I am sure the newer models are even more advanced and better performance parts.

Great value, multiple quality issues

Absolutely still love my Veloster after six years on the road. Had radio, instrument cluster, and catalytic converter fail within 3 years. Metal is very thin and paint has not held up very well. Has more space than it would seem to have.

Needed improvements but still a great car!

Picked up my veloster used with 24k miles. It’s a 6 speed manual trans version with upgraded interior and pano glass sunroof. The cars been awesome for the most part. Some minor issues but it’s a joy!

Looks cool. That’s about it.

I bought this car back in 2012. It’s great on gas and looks nice but that’s about the only positives. You can hear and feel every bump from the road. I was highly dissatisfied with the stock tires that were faulty and needed to be replaced within 2 years of having the car. I literally drove maybe 5-10 miles a day on them because I lived so close to work at the time. Hyundai refused to work with me regarding the tires warranty and told me to contact the tire company. The tire company then told me to contact my dealer for tire replacements. I ended up having to buy newer tires on my own. This will be the only Hyundai I will ever own.

Things that make you go Hmmmm!

Several things have been replaced since I purchased the vehicle new. The Steering wheel, audio system, back lights on the driver’s side has a short in it, and now the Steering Column Coupler which is the most Dangerous of all the shortcomings of my Veloster.

2012 Hyundai Veloster

Enjoy the sporty look of my Hyundai Veloster. It's fun yet functional and gets great gas mileage. Unfortunately the trade off for great gas mileage is it's light weight and doesn't handle well in the crazy winter weather we get in the Midwest. However, I just work from home on those days when the roads get bad.

fun vehicle

Handles very nicely. Fuel economy is very good but not exceptional. I fun to drive around town and comfortable on long trips. The hose power in my non turbo model is not exciting but the way traffic is most of the time more power is unneeded. I'm suprised how much can be carried in it especially with the rear seats folded down. Overall for a single or couple it is a fun ride.

Fun and sporty!

I love my Veloster! I haven't had any trouble with it at all. I have even driven it cross country West Coast to East Coast. Fuel economy is pretty good averaging 34 mpg. It's sporty, and the back seat is even comfortable and roomy. Keeping up on the regular maintenance is my best recommendation.

A nifty little car, even after 4 years

The styling is as fresh and forward looking as it was back in 2012. The amenities are plentiful and the electronics and entertainment system continue to be top grade. The tires and rear/side view visibility are another story. Stay away from low profile tires. They look great but are susceptible to damage. If Hyundai could figure a way to see as easily out of the rear and side as it is to see out of the front, the car would be significantly better. All in all it suits my needs and is economical while at the same time it is stylish.
