Unique Sporty Body Style

The Veloster is compact and good in gas mileage. The body style is unique and sporty looking. The paint quality is acceptable but could be better. The turbo will provide a little more zip especially between first and second gear.

2017 Hyundai Veloster

I love the car it drives good but it doesn't have any power I love the blue tooth and remote start and sun roof plus the style of the car but what really attracted me to the car was the start 3rd door.

Nice small car

I really like my Hyundai Veloster. It's great on fuel and very comfortable to drive. What I'm not happy with is the extremely small window in the back; when looking in the rear view mirror, you don't look through the upper rear window, you only get to see out the small lower window. I find it restricts my view out the back quite a bit. If I had a cop behind me with lights on, I wouldn't be able to see that since the spoiler/ window separation hides that area behind the car. I always have to look at the side mirror to see more than two car-lengths behind my vehicle. Also, what I'm not fond of is the center console where the stereo and air controls are. It should be directed towards the driver, and the stereo system should include a CD deck. I really wasn't happy about that when I made the discovery after having bought the car. Other than that I'm happy with my Veloster.

Hyundai Veloster

I enjoy my car as far as the handling of it, my biggest complaint if you're not on a smooth Road it is very rough riding, would be nice if you had an option on having low profile tires are regular, I just don't think the looks of the low profile tires are worth compromising the ride I think that would make a big difference

Different

I would definitely change the way the car accelerates and shifts. It's also a very tiny 2 person car. It has 2 seats in the back, but really only 5 year olds would fit comfortably. The trunk is spacious, and I love my sunroof.

Buy the turbo..

I would recommend you by the turbo. At the dead stop, car takes a bit to catch. Leather seats might have been a better upgrade. No CD player for us old folks. Paint caught many minor scratches after a few washes..

17 veloster

Economical good mileage, automatic transmission sluggish, noise level high, can’t hear radio on expressway.Comfortable ride for size of vehicle. All in all happy with car, would have loved to had a turbo, but none available, due to it being 2017,no 2018 were made, but that’s the way it goes.

2017 Hyundai Veloster Valve Edition

I think it definitely needs a lot more horse power (intake system upgrade) and a arm rest in the back seat also a back dome light that you can turn on and off. A much better stereo system maybe a Bose or Infinity would be nice.

Just average

I like noting about this car except the look of the car, should have done more research before I bought the car. there is no acceleration, the gas miles are not great. I actually spend more money in gas in this car than I did my 2013 Sonata.

Sport looking sedan

Clean looking sedan. Runs ok in automatic. Jerks a bit if you try to go fast. But just switch over to paddle shift and it will run great. I like all the smart electronic panel. Nice loud radio. Over all it's ok. For a single person. For a family of 4 not so much. The back is super small. The 3 door feature horrible. It's not made for tall people, or someone on the hefty side. I have also noticed that the seatbelts in the back get caught on it's guide. Not letting the seatbelt retract properly. I will call customer service and complain because that's a safety issue.

Clock and window seals

The clock stopped working and no one could tell me how to reset it on the phone. I am taking it in today. The exterior window seals on both driver and passenger sides have melted! I know it is summer, but my husband's 2018 Cruze sits right next to mine daily with no problems at all. Hyundai does not want to cover these under warranty even though my 2017 model has less than 17,000 miles on it. I like driving the car, but am unimpressed with Hyundai customer service.

Fun for the Money

Wish visibility better,i paint issues scratches way too easily , very noisy ride, Needs more safety features . Blind spot warning would be great. Keep it sporty and affordable. Would not buy again unless better visibility and safety features installed.

2017 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

The 2017 Hyundai Veloster Turbo is a cute car, with plenty of trunk space, and actually very comfortable to sit in the back seat. However, the car has NO power, does NOT accelerate well after turning a corner. The car acts like it wants to stall. The panoramic sun roof is very noisy when it is opened. The engine does NOT have a powerful sound, when revved. I traded a 2012 Hyndai Genesis Coupe, for this Hyundai Veloster that I should have kept.

Love this car

Love this car but hate the transmission in it, the only complaint about this car is the transmission, it hesitates all the time off the line, which is dangerous when going through an intersection. Should be recalled and replaced.

Too bad about Tranny

Would b much better if transmission was safe and consistent the interior works well I am over 6’4” and quite comfortable. Controls are intuitive easy to reach and use. Build quality is good and did have to have some minor repairs to body from speed bump issues at parking garages front bumper scrapes easily and tore twice.

Transmission

Vehicle slips out of gear almost t-boned last time hesitates on exceleration problem needs to be corrected. This has happened 5 times in 25 months,no sense taking it back to dealer, since they won’t be able replicate the problem, because it doesn’t occur often enough.

The Dual Clutch transmission ruins a really good car.

The car is comfortable, nimble, fun, and attractive. There is so much to enjoy about this car that I'm upset that I dislike it so much. I do all city driving and get all of 17 mpg, no I'm not driving like a maniac, that's 100 percent on the DCT. Acceleration is anemic at best, auto shifting is smooth but comes at terrible times. When it downshifts into first from second, it rev matches so slowly that I think it's waiting for me to change my mind that the throttle position and speed of the car is really a first gear want. My wife has a 2012 Elantra where horsepower, torque, and weight are similar enough to be close in performance but it's nowhere near. I have talked to her about trading cars, legitimately, and she wants no part of driving the Veloster every day (because of the transmission.) Nearly every car I have ever owned, I'm 43, has had lower horsepower than the Veloster so, I'm plenty familiar with the performance I should expect. Now, for those of you that are still skeptical of my credentials as someone to tell you to stay away from any Hyundai DCT, I've driven a manual since I was 19, I deliver pizza and have for 25 years, and have been an avid car guy my whole life. What the DCT does is fully engage the clutches at idle and it has to build up steam from there, no other transmission does this. In a manual transmission you usually slip the clutch until fully engaged at say 1000-1200 rpm for a normal takeoff and a performance take off would have the engine speed higher. A regular automatic transmission would have the torque converter to serve that same function, resulting in the engine using more of the available torque to get going. The DCT could actually do this, it is in fact using clutches to do its job and the computer could be programmed to provide a slight slippage to put it in a better position to putting down the torque it does have. They don't do this because it would cause those items to more of a maintenance item, like a regular clutch is, and removing the whole setup and digging into it would cost thousands of dollars, so they do it the safe way. What this means is that a DCT transmission is so bad that it provides all the terrible traits of both the automatic and manual transmissions, while not really having an upside because speed of shifts isn't even particularly good on these economy cars because the standard public doesn't like that fast and hard shifting. I was positive they would get rid of them in the newer models, because it's so terrible of a transmission that it's not worth even trying to fix, but they have doubled down and put them in even MORE of their lineup. I wasn't aware of all of these downsides when I purchased this car, the test drive doesn't provide a way to see how the car will work in traffic or in an emergency situation where you have to accelerate quicker than you expected (remember that stupid downshift issue, that WILL get you in trouble.) Buy a Hyundai, stay FAR away from any vehicle with this God awful transmission.

Great car but have run into more issues than I would like to explain.

Car runs great and most issues I have faced are based on this being my first car from a dealership but am happy I was approved for the car in the first place. As I said most issues I have found with the car come with just the type of car it is. Not to say it's horrible but car sets a little to low for the crappy roads in this state. Also was not the happiest with a handful of things going out rather soon exspcially with this being a brand new car when I obtained it.
