2004 Mazda MPV
Has a nasty tendency to eat the OEM coil packs. Once all thise were replaced, the problem seems to have ended. It is not cheap to pull the upper und of the motor to
get at the aft bank of cylinders for coil pack and plug replacement. It has a timing chain, not a belt, so periodic timing belt replacement is not necessary (big cost saver). Visibility is much better than out of the Honda Odyssey I also own. Spare tire access is cumbersome and a multi-step evolution. But drive train is solid after 151,000 miles despite an occasional clunky 2-3 upshift. Body panels started to ripple (on the sides) without provocation and some of the underbody struts broke as they were made out of cheap composite and didn’t stand the test of time. Had some initial troubles with the sliding doors but after some dealer adjustment, not a problem. Finish has held up decently despite enduring Colorado winters and Texas summers.
