The little engine that kept going
2007 nissan sentra SL is has been a very reliable car that with basic maintenance should give you miles and miles of worry free ownership.
I've put over 174,000 miles (mostly highway/interstate driving) with no major issues.
I've used in all weather (rain, sleet, snow, etc) with a good set of tires that match the environment with minimal issues.
The engine is the low point in terms of performance. But with that said, it is still surprisingly stable at higher speeds (it just takes a little while to get there).
The trunk is above average for its class and one of those "pleasant surprises" that made living with it less of a chore than you'd think.
The interior is decent but you're looking at 2007 decent. It lags behind more modern cars on terms of features, but you also have alot less electronical issues that can go wrong.
Something to note, the headlights have a tendency to fog over after some time in the sun pretty badly, which will dimm the effects of your headlight beam pretty drastically if not addressed. Apparently, it's a well known issue for Nissan and Toyota around that time if I'm not mistaken.
I ended up having a professional wet sand, polish, and coat with ceramic wax. They look brand new, the beam is bright as ever, and didn't cost much (in terms of money or time).
It's also pretty easy to work on so that's a plus as well.
It serves its purpose as a commuter extremely well. Just keep up with basic maintenance, make sure the previous owner didn't abuse the heck out of it, and it should last you a good amount of miles without having to worry about major issues.
I've heard that some people have had problems with the transmission failing so I though I'd bring it up. I haven't had any issues, but I mostly use for highway driving so I don't typically put a lot of strain on it either.
