Not as good as Toyota 4runner

Brought a 2004 Xterra when I totaled my 2000 Totyota 4runner back in 2017. Had the xterra for a few years. Finally back to another Toyota/Lexus SUV in March 2020. The xterra was decently reliable. It broke down on me once the interstate. The ride and interior of the xterra isn't very good compared to my 4runner. I wouldn't recommend this vehicle to anyone. It got me to and from work thankfully. Wouldn't put it on the road and my wife wouldn't drive this vehicle.

Everything you need, nothing you don't. - Kind of.

If you want a cheap, reliable, off roader this is fine. It's no 4runner but it's thousands less than a 4runner. Engine is underpowered but reliable which is important in a cheap truck. Manual 4x4 means lack of issues or being stranded.

Tough and reliable

These are good reliable SUVs. Real workhorses. Ride is stiff, handling is clumsy, and acceleration is not great but the most important thing is that they are well built, solid and reliable. MPG is mediocre at best..15-16 city and 17 hwy, maybe 18 downhill with a tailwind. But you'll get there. Isn't that what you really want?

Nice vehicle for its age.

It done us a very good job. Has always been dependable. It never got very good gas mileage but for its age I guess it did good. Repairs are a little more costly than on some other vehicle of its class. Overall we have been very satisfied with it.

Love my xterra

I have been through a lot with this truck. Over the years, there have been some recurrent electrical issues which is why I give it 4 stars. However, the truck has performed miraculously in extreme weather many times. I always felt safe in it. This is why it has been passed on to 19 yr old son when the vehicle has +230k miles.

Love it

I can't say enough about my Nissan XTerra. It's just the right size for my family and for what we like to do. I've always had SUV, but my Nissan has never failed me or my family. It doesn't matter what the weather or roads have in store for us, we have always made it to our destination and back home again.

2004 Xterra.

Nice truck. Great for winter weather. I like that it is heavy and 4 wheel drive. It's now 15 years old and still on the road. I bought the truck used 4 years ago. Needed some work. Mostly just general maintenance that was not done by previous owner. Has been all fixed up and is running great. Very popular in the area that I live, Oshkosh Wisconsin.

15 reliable years

I can only say this vehicle has been like a trusty steed that’s never let me down. I’ve done routine maintenance and have had no breakdowns relating to poor engineering. Almost 214,000 miles and still going. I can only hope my next ride is so well built.

Oldie but Goodie

My car is old, 17 years old, and kind of beat up inside but it runs like new. I have never had a major problem with it. The worst is that it pulls to the left but I have learned to compensate. If I could, I would definitely get another Nissan Xterra!!!

Great n fun to drive

Brought it off the dealership line that got it from Rental car company. It’s a 2004 Nissan Exterra 3.3 rear drive XE model. Brought it in 2006 till present, did maintenance schedule, oil, belts, fuel injection, fuel pump n filter, radiator, hose, timing belt, tires, transmission filter, up grade front dis n pads, oil sensor, crack n cam sensor, O2 sensor all 4, up grade muffler, tail pipe, after market fog lights an front grill beside other things. Also never did the rear brake shoes yet n drum. I’m a Chevy guy never thought I be driving a Nissan but glad I did Aloha. PS mileage was 15,500 now 127,888
