Nice car but repairs are over the top

Nice car but have replaced almost every key element from a/c unit to water pump to ball joints to battery to alternator and it only has 162,000 miles of easy driving ...earlier models were much better and more reliable

Great car, except for the engine...

solid car, but engine started burning oil at 70,000 miles. Hopefully Toyota will make it right.

CAMRY COMPARISON

My 2007 is beautiful AND comfortable, the perfect car for a lengthy trip and I am very happy with it. I also drive NEW cars--sedans, SUVs and Crossovers, so all opinions below are in comparison to the newer cars.

Toyota Hybrid

I own a 2007 Toyota Hybrid. Over all it’s been a solid car! Until The Hybrid Battery went out ! $3000 later I was on my way! Overall it’s been very Dependable though. I just wish someone would have warned me about that Battery Price! Crazy!

Great 6 cylinder engine. Rattled and squeaks in dash

Overall this car has 167,000 miles on it. A few somewhat minor issues, dash squeaks were not ever fixed despite dealer 6 hour attempt. Chassis plugs fell out and floor carpets got saturated twice. Another rear rattle can not be diagnosed. But if you play the radio loud you hardly notice these....

Don't wait until the head gasket blows

The piston and rings are an issue. If replacing the head gasket, you have to get inserts in the block before putting heads back on or the head bolts will strip as well. Preventative maintenance is key

2007 Camry

Not what I expected at all. It had been garaged for 10 years and looked like new when I bought it. 60k miles and had only been driven around town by an older couple. Before I could drive it home replaced alternator. Since then radiator, control arms, axles (twice) , valve cover gasket, interior door handle, CV joints, all struts done in addition to regular maintenance. And this one has the engine that burns oil. I dont put a lot of miles on it but spent on repairs what I paid for it. Not what I would anticipate from a Toyota camry. Interior has cheap materials. Visor replaced and dash recalled.

Reliable

Still going after 172,000 miles. It does tend to burn a little oil, but I don't see it going out the tail pipe. It seems to be tough on tires too. All in all a dependable auto.

Compare 2003 with 2007 camry

Think some changes made are less comfortable such as gear shift arrangement, arrangement of storage between front seats. Do wish the clock was easier to see in daylight hours.

Economic, Style and Toughness

A very good car but not a great car

For operations this is a great car It is a hybrid and good bed me 34 mph mixed daily commute in Orange County to LAX traffic on the 405. I have put 150k mikes in this car over six years Very reliable except Main battery died at 147k replaced under warranty Had buned oil to the tune of one at every 2500 miles since I got it This seems endemic to this engine as I had a highlander and rav 4 with the same engine and same oil use Next issue poor QC in that the covers for the auxiliary airbags mounted in that a pullers fit poorly

Toyota camry XLE Has to be the most reliable car

As long as I take it in regularly to Autobahn, Zak and Amy are very professional. I dropped it off late morning around 11:30 and I received a call around 1:30 from Autobahn to make sure all is well and it is. I definitely would advise everyone to go to Zak at Autobahn; you will receive excellent service and a good sign of a body shot is that it is immaculate and Autobahn never disappoints; the place is spotless. Don't waste your time looking for a great mechanic....he's here in Santa Rosa,
