Engine and drive system last forever but rust is an issue.

At this time I have about 290,000 miles on the truck. Same clutch, no engine work. It runs great however rust is an issue. The back bumper is just about gone I have to replace it and the same with the front. This is an ongoing issue as I had the same issue with my last Tacoma. I live in the hills where they salt the roads in the winter and I use this truck to haul firewood from my wood lot to my house... Overall I love the durability but the rust issue is a big bummer. If it wasn't for the rust I probably would keep the truck to see if I can hit 400K. After this winter I plan on buying another one.

frame problems

The truck has been great EXCEPT for the frame. The frame has been steadily rusting out to the extent that I have had to take it to a welding shop twice to have steel plates welded on in order for it to pass the State Inspection .

Dependable

After 15 years still dependable, maintenance and upkeep reasonable, only 136,000 hope to double it although at 77 she'll probably out last me.

I like this vehicle, even with the age. For a 4 cyl., it has plenty of pep. It was an abused and neglected truck b4 I bought it, but it was fixed up and still runs good. I like the size and height. Turning radius good. Fits in garage well. Hauling is adequate for my needs. I like to sit higher when on the road. Good visibility.Good

Great truck!

It's not a great big truck but it can do what a big truck does! It has been a very reliable vehicle and I believe when we go to sell it, it will have held its value!!

One of the best small trucks!

I've owned my Tacoma since it was new for 14 years now and it has been a great vehicle! Driven it across America many times, and driven it for everything! Love it!

My 2002 Toyota Tacoma.

I am impressed with how well tbe paint is holding up. I was told not to buy a truck with a 4 cylinder anx a/c because of power loss. Although there is a slight loss of power it isn't enough to keep me from buying another one. The only complaint is the cab size and hieght of windshield. I have to duck down to see stop lights. My gead is almost hitting the roof and the cab is narrow. If 2 people are in tge truck you rub shoulders

Cost effective

We purchased our Tacoma 16 years ago and now have less than 140,000 miles on her. With luck and proper maintenance she may last us another 10 years or 100,000 miles, either would substantiate the value of our original purchase. Our next one, should we live that long, will have updated features like automatic windows and door locks. Thank you Toyota for your fine product and workmanship.

I love my little truck. It has been the best vehicle I have ever had. Reliable and strong. It will give me many more years. Never had a recall. Never had a break down that wasn't an easy fix. Would buy one again

the truck has been terrific since I bought it in 2002 haven't had much problem with it. It performs well and only had to change the battery and tires and it preforms well. It runs great and good gas mileage.

Best truck I severe have owned

I Love my Tacoma. I have had it a long time and it has a lot of miles on it but it has never let me down nor have I had to have any major repairs performed on it till just recently. I hope to keep driving it another 4 to 5 years as I do not want another vehicle.
